i keep hearing the accusation that male coaches who behave like kim mulkey are praised for it, but i’ve yet to see any examples of it.

You ever heard of a guy named Chris Beard?

My wife, who knows nothing about college coaches (but a ton about HS coaches as she works with them every day) made the the point that women have a much shorter leash in all aspects of our society.

As someone who worked in corporate America for my career, I have to agree with her. Women who made it to the top were seen as a "bad mom", "greedy," "short-fused," "bitchy," etc, while men were more perceived as "driven," "committed," "hard-working", "tough," etc. Bobby Knight was and is still mostly regarded in a very positive light precisely for possessing those characteristics. I'm not defending Kim Mulkey and I don't know her story, but I do enjoy all the barbs people throw at her. It was more a general observation about human nature and our society.

    Yep. Spot on

So many of the terrible takes on the women’s game/tournament are rooted in sexism and racism. It’s amazing to watch grown adults show their whole ass with these takes.

If the program DOESN'T slip, or god forbid actually improves, then that's not exactly bad, is it?

I’m convinced some people on this board* WANT our program to slip/fail so they can say they were right about RT

It’s very tedious having the same argument about RT over and over and OVER again. I’m probably the biggest RT “sunshine pumper” on here and all I’ve ever said is we have to wait and see how he does before jumping to conclusions.

I think he did a decent (not great) job this year with the hand he was dealt. Next year we’ll really see what’s up as he will likely be rid of Beards guys in Hunter and Mitchell and the team will be mostly his guys.

IMO Shedrick could have a monster year next year if he’s healthy. Weaver we all love. Johnson looks great. Let’s see who else RT can pick up in the portal and what he can do with them

*(PS im not naming names or singling anyone out)

Eh, she talked shit on the court and in the media when she won . Then she cried foul when she lost and people gave the shit right back. She doesn't deserve death threats or racist taunts but that's simply a strawman attempt to evade accountability on what she does deserve. She's a poor sport. She don't have to die but she can go fuck herself.

    Dish, take. A simple concept.

Again equating talking trash on the court with death threats and racist taunts towards a young woman in her eaely 20s makes no sense at all to me. Theyre very far from the same

She takes what she dishes (trash talk on the court) just fine. What she dishes out is nowhere near death threats and racist taunts

  5. Angel Reese talks trash on the court like basically every men’s player in the last 30-40 years

Implying that she deserves death threats and racist taunts as a result is a take, i guess. A very bad one. But a take nonetheless

FWIW, Dillon Mitchell tweeted about the Texas One Fund an hour ago...seems odd for somebody who is thought to be leaving?

He's also not officially in the portal as far as I can tell.

Regarding Mitchell, if he leaves it will be to a top team like Kansas - and then we are all going to watch with dismay when he is a huge contributor.

He averaged about 10 points and 8 boards in 29 minutes a game this year

IMO he was already a solid contributor

I completely disagree that "kids these days aren’t even interested in listening to an adult", broad brush.  Maybe elite D1 athletes, I have no experience there, but I helped teach HS kids both in band and soccer and felt like they were for the most part engaged and willing to learn.

It's the oldest old man perspective in the book . . . "kids these days".  Eh.

And then the example of how terrible "kids these days" are was a guy likes pink. OH NOES!!!!!

Seems like he’s sowing the field for the Kentucky job. The Cal criticisms, while valid, reeked of an ulterior motive.

He’s 62 and had a very clean break with Villanova. Anything could be on the table. I do like him on TV, and he’d be fine staying put.

I don't think Jay Wright has any interest in coaching in the NIL/portal era but I could be wrong.

Dude's a 62 year old multimillionaire with a solid, well paying, easy gig that requires him to do just a little bit of work 3-4 months out of the year.

Whether you like the outcome of the season or not, like all coaches, Coach Terry was responsible for the squad assembled.

I think the squad assembled will be a lot more on RT next year than this year.

He wasn't able to recruit HS last year due to the interim tag, Beards top 2 recruits bounced on him late, and Beard assembled the rest of the team minus the transfers (and Brock).

Nice aggy post. The tournament is about survive and advance. They did and you were wrong but way to be aggy. I would’ve been right but but but. Guess your right post just ran out of time.

Don't worry bud. Still two more games for them to do exactly what I said they'd do!

Houston will experience what used to happen to Huggins good WVU teams…

…an earlier than expected tournament loss when the refs decide to call it close

This comment that Rockethorn called the dumbest he'd ever read and spent a few days melting down over, would have accurately described last night's game if the Aggies simply hit their FTs.
