This may have been mentioned up thread, but I didn’t see anything definitive. What about those of us who are self-employed? I don’t have employees nor do I have payroll.

I thought I read that Schedule C filers can qualify for PPP. Basically, your “payroll” number is your profit. Is this correct?  And if so, how do I prove I used the money to pay myself?

I've heard this will be done later through a second PPP application for 1099 people that will occur next week or beyond.  As far as proving your profit, they'll likely go off your Schedule C on the tax return.  The schedule that specifies your revenue, expenses and "profit".

My guess is they'll never get around to the 1099 folks.  Just go get your $10K and be thankful for that.

  2. I can’t see how this is going to matter. Forgiveness is a simple calculation based on the payroll, utilities, rent, and interest paid over the subsequent 8 weeks multiplied times the FTE calculation. I don’t think it is a bad idea, I’m just not certain where it makes a difference in forgiveness.
Agree. If you can provide good reporting and payroll statements, rent payment proof, etc that shouldn't be a problem.

Separate bank acct seems a bit like a belt and suspenders to me.

  3. I have been back and forth with my banker today about the PPP loan. Got everything submitted and they are trying to figure out how we are supposed to document company paid health insurance. What is everyone else doing in this regard?

Payroll reports should show that. Then you can check it against the statement from the health insurance provider.

everything I have read says only state and local taxes.

Yes, sorry for the misinformation.  I double checked the bill and you are correct:

" payment of State or local tax assessed on the compensation of employees;"

    Directly from the bill.

The 2.5x is the calculator used for LOAN AMOUNT CALCULATION, not for forgiveness.

Forgiveness is 8 weeks of wages, utilities, etc.

    Clear?

Just to clarify, are you interpreting the definition of "payroll costs" to include direct employees as well as outsourcing / 1099ers?

Correct.  All W-2 and 1099 subcontractors can be included in "payroll costs".  Exclude any amount of W-2 and 1099 wages for individuals that are in excess of $100,000/year.  Also, it's salaries, wages, tips, health care insurance costs, and all federal/state payroll taxes.  Add it all up for last 12 months, take the monthly average, and multiply by 2.5x.

That's the max amount of the loan you can receive.

For loan forgiveness, you may get up to 8 weeks of relief of payroll costs, rent, utilities, and mortgage interest expense.  There are a couple of "tests" that can lower the amount of loan forgiveness:

#1: are the number of your FTE (full-time-employees) for the 8-week period beginning on date of loan less than the average # of FTEs between Jan. 1, 2020 and Feb. 29, 2020?  If so, this reduces the amount of loan forgiveness.

#2: are any salaries reduced by 25% or more during this period?  If so, this reduces the amount of loan forgiveness.

By the time I type this, over 430,000 companies will have filed for the EIDL since the site changes for the SBA this weekend. That’s not public info, but anyone who’s worked on e-commerce site launches knows that when you enable ordering from customers, you don’t start the first order at #1. It looks like they started this process at order 3300xxxxxxx. I was a part of 7 filings today and they went up from 231k i finish tonight at 429k. Sequential.

Why does that matter? They’ve set aside the $10k “emergency loan” that is really a grant with $10billion as part of the CARES Act. That means that 1,000,000 companies will get it. They’ll be out of eligibility for that funding by some time Wednesday/Thursday.

Get your money (and your filings) right. Got 4 more tomorrow that are a bit more complicated. Hope everyone here gets theirs.

Up to 553k this morning.  FYI.

  7. I've been using the virus break to read golf books. First up was Stan Utley "Art of the Short Game". Follows the same philosophy as his putting method. After 2 practice chipping sessions, I'm seeing a great improvement. Weight about 60% on front leg, fold, turn and hold. Strike ball first. Makes chipping easy, just need to have a feel on distance.

Pitching, a little tougher, but the idea is to use the bounce and strike ground first, before ball. Similar technique to chipping, but add in wrist hinge. Send ball high with soft landing. Key is to stay forward on lead leg to prevent fats and thins.

  8. I’m having a first.  I’ve never had a brisket break straight through a stall and cook so damn fast.  Not even a micro stall.  Put the 15 lb packer on at 9am At 245-250 on smoker and its at 194 degrees six hours later!   Shit hasn’t even been able to develop a damn bark!!

    WTF?!?!?!
Funny, same thing happened here with that New Zealand brisket. 14lb cooked in 7 hrs. Straight through stall. I noticed it didn't have much of that hard fat cap, just had a good amount of the soft fat that cooks off.

I'm about to carve up, so we will see how it turned out.
  9. My club is open, Golf only. I have been practicing, but haven't played because of work and rain. Our club turned the cups upside down, as a preventative measure. Here was an email today:

Beginning today, the cups on all greens will be set upside down.  Once a ball has hit the cup, it's deemed holed.

The flag stick is not to be removed during play.

All rakes and ball washers are being removed from the course today.  Should your ball land in a footprint or location previously played from, you may place the ball as near as possible to the original lie where the sand is smooth with no penalty.  We ask after hitting a bunker shot, please smooth the bunker divot and footprints with your feet as best you can.

  10. I was wondering if any bow hunters here could opine on the merits/pitfalls of using this thing while hunting:

Would not use. You only need 1 arrow most of the time. This is technology that provides a solution where no problem exists.

That being said, you have to hand it to those Euros. Great engineering. Sounds quiet, looks smooth.

  11. I have been putting on them. The Bermuda grass is so tight right now you have to be really aggressive with the wedge to get it up. My short game was nails when in mid season forms I just haven’t gotten it close to coming back and now I’ve lost confidence. I picture blading or chili dipping every short shot over a bunker or from 30 out. I also have lost all spin on all clubs so I’m aiming 10 yards short depending on pin position when attacking a green. I’m just not confident unless I’m on the green or on the tee box right now. T is awesome to pipe drives and make 10-12 footers like it’s your job but frustrating as hell to shoot 90+ while doing it.

I've got a lot of work to do before pinehurst at the end of May. That work starts on Thursday over lunch. Then another 2.5 rounds this weekend.
*slight edit to my previous post. Just looked and I have 9 rounds recorded for 2020. Which is awesome. The new GHIN app is sweet. 13.1 handicap as of this morning.

Seconded. End of last summer I was nails, bringing the hc down to sub 7.

5 months off, winter conditions, and I can't chip or pitch worth a damn. Driver is still nails, irons are solid.

Mentally just know it will get better as the grass greens up and fairways soften. That, and many months more of playing /practicing.
  12. No it's not, that's just a ridiculous thing to say about club soccer in Europe. When has parity ever mattered? Each major league has been absolutely dominated by a small number of clubs in recent decades. That's just a really weird take. This isn't about parity in any way whatsoever. In fact, it's anti-parity. It actively prevents club owners from investing in their clubs to improve them ahead of revenue increases.
Agree. If you want parity, institute a salary cap.
  13.  pulled a couple other pics from week before last

    Baller! Great shots!

I'm always too busy gobbling up powder to stop and take pictures. That, and either skiing alone, or with guys who don't stop.

  14. Just bought the Aberlour 12 Double Cask. Fucking Christmas in a bottle. Wow.

I've been enjoying this myself. Kind of has a bourbon flavor with the sherry and oak barrel finishes. Spicy finish.
