Man I’ve been drinking the shit out of this since Vernor’s stopped appearing on the shelves here. Also I ate the shit out of haribo sour gummies in early sobrietyb4de738f0fae66971e77f11621ffcd4e.jpg

I've been destroying sour patch kids.

Just popped in to point out that Roland Emmerich is an absolute garbage movie director whose movies are the biggest pieces of shit on the big screen, all of them lame ass campy crap with bad acting.

Just watched fifteen minutes of the remake of Midway before a constant stream of cringeworthy bad dialog, video game graphics, and horrific acting forced us to turn it off. This dipshit also directed 2012, another interesting movie idea ruined by poor directing. He only got away with Independence Day because it was a bit novel at the time and was loaded with A list stars.

    Screw that dude.

I have a soft spot for Independence Day. Stargate isn't awful. A lot of Independence Day is actually rehashed from Stargate, though.

I tried to watch The Patriot the other day. It's basically a shitty rip of Braveheart. I wouldn't fault anyone for enjoying it though.

Past those 3 it's a bunch of dogshit all the way down.

After my 4th of July relapse, I’ve been good. Sleep has been much better physically, but been having nightmares about covid 19 almost every night, feel like I’m not getting any mental sleep. My work had a big uptick last week, but I didn’t think it bothered me much, guess not. I just bought some CBD Gummies for anti anxiety and sleeping as melatonin hasn’t done shit for me lately. Just ate one and feel almost buzzed. Know it is in my head, but I’m very relaxed, hope this isn’t a bad move.

I don't count CBD as a relapse or "using" and many if not most people would say the same. Now, if you start using it to chase the mild high that it might produce then you might want to take a step back. i.e. if the jar of gummies is gone after 4 days. But like someone above said, no one is going to jail or beating their wife over a jar of CBD gummies.

On the sugar, yeah. It's a real thing. I've bought more candy and hostess bullshit since going to rehab than I probably did in 5 years before that. Obviously it's not optimal, but some things you're probably better off replacing than trying to white knuckle yourself into insanity.

I started smoking cigarettes which I'm not super happy with myself about but it's pretty easy for me to keep it to 3 or so a day. I was never a big smoker and didn't start at a young age so I'm not going to start smoking half a pack a day but again, optimally I wouldn't smoke at all. If it helps me resist the urge to go buy a bottle then that's a trade off I'll have to take - because I'm really only a few bottles away from killing myself, someone else, or finding out what an extended stay in jail is like.

Oh, and on NA beer - my first question would be why? Because for me it would be like pouring a bunch of lube around my asshole then bending over and waiting for Satan. Okay, maybe you liked the "taste" of beer, but I'm guessing it was part of a greater affinity that involved the alcohol.

The last meal I had there was overpriced and barely edible. Granted that was some time ago and at the satellite location.

No, I meant Austin punches above its weight class with food in general but Italian is a weak spot. Probably the one that sticks out the most.

Ah okay. I was wondering if that's what you meant but chose to misinterpret it anyway. Yes, as a whole Austin is a good food city but it can be strange when it comes to what is available and where. Some neighborhoods suck and some nighborhoods have a litany of options.

Of course, that's relative given that the city punches above its weight class in that regard.

Austin punches above its weight class with Italian food? I'd have to disagree whole heartedly. There's like 3 good southern/American Italian restaraunts here. Dallas and Houston might have surprisingly good and versatile Italian offerings but Austin is lacking. Trying to find good pizza here is especially a travesty (although Cane Roso was a nice addition - but that's a Dallas transplant).

Had Olive and June take out the other day. It's good but I'd almost call it new American with Italian ingredients. Doesn't scratch a red sauce itch.

We also contributed quite a bit to the threat. So yeah it's easy to, for example, get all huffy about Soviet submarines in Cuba, but does that happen without Jupiter missiles in Turkey? Point being, any Russian schmuck could say the exact same sentence that you began with and he'd be every bit as correct as you are. But the way you put it out there (and I'm sure the Russian schmuck would too) makes it seem as if the US (or in the schmuck's case, the USSR) was some sort of victim in the Cold War. We (they) weren't.

I mean I just said it was threatened - but yes it takes two to tango.

The real problem with our "national security" is that we've only really been insecure one time since 1812 and that is when we were fighting ourselves.  We don't really know what national security actually means.  We think its awesome to pay an exorbitant amount for a fighter jet. And it looks cool when its bombing overmatched warlords who still use 70s era Soviet weapons.  Meanwhile China and Russia probably already know how to take down our F-35.  That's why Israel wants their own variant which they won't share with us.

Yeah. National Security in 2020 is basically how secure is your data. Add a handful of aircraft carriers, some intelligence, some black ops capability - what else do you really need? Nuclear deterrent doesn't even scare anyone anymore. All those ICBMs will rust away under a tarp before anyone fires them.

I've not read the entire thread but Mexican cartels don't tend to hit people in their home wearing FedEx garb. They snatch them up and take em somewhere to complete the "job" in cartel style.

Exactly. Throw some asada on the grill, invite the cousins over. Put the Spurs game on. Make a night of it.
