  1. I'm not sure how anyone here has seen enough of either Casey or Card to have any opinion about either. I agree with this 100% I don't get how anyone acts like they know how good or bad Casey is. On the topic of Casey, one thing I believe that I haven't heard many people say is that he has taken the path that every single QB recruit (Milroe) except for Freshman starters should take. Redshirt, grind in school to graduate in 3, and put yourself in a position to either start or grad transfer and start 2 years somewhere else. Joe Burrow is the shining example of this. QB is a unique spot where a guy might need to transfer even if they have NFL talent and have worked hard just because top schools take a top quarterback every single year. Look at the Ohio State QB room with Burrow. What I do know about Casey is that he has worked his ass off for 3 years, doesn't drink, eats right and has been taking hella class to put himself in a position to either start here or somewhere else for 2 years and get a shot at the NFL. Hella respect to him and his family for pushing him to take that route because its not easy to graduate in 3 playing D1 football. Idk if a coach could sell a recruit on taking this path but somebody who is a mentor to qb recruits should because it really is the best path for any QB with NFL aspirations. JQJ is a kid with an NFL arm, NFL size and NFL athleticism I don't think the speculation of him moving to LB is very realistic. He and Card should really both redshirt and compete and then whoever doesn't get the nod transfer and try to make it to the league from another school (hopefully in the Pac-12). QB is a tough spot for a kid trying to make the NFL.
  2. SIAP, I usually lurk on the recruiting board but I thought this topic is worth a post over here. Potential Walk-on: For some reason I cannot post a new topic on the football forum, but I wanted to share. https://247sports.com/Player/Greg-Kelley-20744/ . This kid is the focus of a new documentary that took place in Leander called Outcry, which I highly recommend. I will try to keep the spoilers to a minimum. He has enrolled at UT and posted an instagram saying that he has begun his comeback to football and also has a few impressive posts in the weight room with a #305 power clean that looked easy. Kid had offers from rice, utsa and Texas State, so I think he would automatically be our most talented walk-on. Spoiler** If you watch the documentary this kid is impossible not to root for at this point and it would be incredibly cool to see him make the team and possibly get some action on special teams. Regardless it is a great story to follow I highly recommend the doc and check out the kids instagram for some truly inspiring stuff, including a reaction video of his acceptance to UT. He is a great guy to have on the team for leadership etc. and I will be following his career and rooting for the guy all the way 🤘
  3. That kid looks like he has got a lot of room to add muscle to that frame just judging off of twitter pictures. Obviously I haven't seen the kid in person but he does not look like a kid who screams "college ready" besides the fact that he's 6'6. Haven't watched hudl film but he has a few highlights without pads on his twitter profile and looks like an athletic kid with room to grow. Gotta give some credit to Jimbo for getting some of these highly ranked OOS guys. I think it helps us Tbh at least in the short term. It will be interesting to see how often Tom and Jimbo go OOS in these next couple of classes since we went heavy OOS in 2019 and they went heavy in-state and then it basically flip-flopped in 2020. All we gotta do is win.
