The RB is a zone plug and play guy. He'll push if not surpass Pierce

I love the fisher pick. Good chance he would have been something like OT4 next year and would have been a first. Now you get to develop him in the league a year early while adding playable depth
I like the bullock pick in a vacuum, but I don’t love trading a 4th to move up 8 spots at the end of the third
Lassiter is fine if he’s playing only nickel. This was a loaded nickel class, and Houston picked him other several others. I do wonder how they felt about DeJean and Kool-Aid as nickels, who went right before
After the two DB picks, I wonder if they’re still looking for a starting safety in free agency (Simmons), or if they’d rather just develop these guys

Where Pearsall was drafted is more than fine. He was a late first early second guy. Even with San Francisco shopping Deebo and potentially trading him today, I thought it was a weird fit for them

I think they'd go Rakestraw over Sainristil. Hall Jr at #59 would be a home run

There's four "first rounders" with red flags who went undrafted in Cooper DeJean, Jer'Zhan Newton, Adonai Mitchell, and Kool-Aid McKinstry. Teams might not have some or all of them on their boards at all. I wonder if Houston does?
There's several centers who I don't think Houston would take, so root for those guys to go off the board early (Jackson Powers-Johnson and Zach Frazier)
Here's DJ's best available
24 Cooper DeJean
25 Jer'Zhan Newton
27 Adonai Mitchell
28 Kool-Aid McKinstry
29 Edgerrin Cooper
30 Ladd McConkey
32 Ennis Rakestraw Jr
34 Zach Frazier
38 Braden Fiske
41 Payton Wilson
42 Keon Coleman
43 Junior Colson
44 Malachi Corley
45 Marshawn Kneeland
The top guys who visited who are still on the board
Edgerrin Cooper
Ennis Trakestraw Jr
Payton Wilson
Marshawn Kneeland
Kignsley Suamataia
Javon Bullard
Michael Hall Jr

Could have stayed at 23 and had Brian Thomas instead of Diggs... Not loving that trade back and swap now.
Diggs helps you win more this year, which appears to be a priority

Bears should draft harrison jr or trade a couple of spots down for a qb hungry team
No, they should draft the elite QB prospect and have a shot to win big in the four year rookie pay scale window

Haven’t read anything in here. We could have 3 players drafted tonight. So is worthy not getting round 1 vibes? Round 2 I assume tomorrow.
Worthy seems to have been rising while Adonai has been falling this week, per the betting markets. Both could easily go tonight

I think Penix is the best “pure passer” of all the top 6 QBs mentioned. His previous injuries were prior to the previous two seasons, which both happened to end our FB season.
Hook’em!!!Caleb is the most accurate passer of the bunch

This is nuts. ESPN just said the first 6 picks could be QBs. Every team is chasing the Texans model of drafting a QB resulting in overnight success.
And you believe that?

Per Allbright, Houston could move back into the first round. Presumably that's if one of their ~16 first rounders falls?

- Jer'Zhan Newton - Maybe it's because I only watched 3-4 Illinois games last year, but in each one this guy was a disruption on the field on damned near every drive. He should be drafted around Murphy's pick yet I've seen him much lower.
Newton has a medical that could be dropping him

The first time I've seen it reported that Legette visited Houston. His O/U is 36.5, so there's a chance he's there at #42

Quick mock draft through their 4th round picks
42- Michael Hall Jr (Ohio State DT)
59- Javon Bullard (Georgia S)
86- Christian Mahogany (Boston College OL)
122- Ray Davis (Kentucky RB)
126- Jaylin Simpson (Auburn S)
Yeah, I posted this earlier in the thread
That line makes me think people think Rakestraw isn't making it past Houston though

Looking at the circa o/u, the only players commonly in first round mocks who don't have a line are Caleb, Daniels, Maye, Guyton, and Morgan.. which makes you think Guyton and Morgan are candidates to not go in the first
Making a mock (but leaving out the teams) based on the O/U gives you

Xavier Legette (36.5)

Ennis Rakestraw (41.5)
Once again, no line for Guyton or Morgan, which would seemingly slot right in between Nix/McConkey's 34.5 and Legette's 36.6
As a Texans fan, Rakestraw sitting at 41.5 is notable

2024 Houston Texans off-season thread

Look, once you're good it's tough to find instant starters in the draft after the second round. Houston probably found a starting nickel. Their other starter from the draft is Stefon Diggs.
I really like the Fisher pick because it's difficult to find plus left tackle upside players outside of the first half or so of the first round (this year was an abnormally deep draft). If this was a regular tackle draft, Fisher likely goes towards the top of the second or even sneaks into the first due to the positional inflation. There's a good chance he plays tackle this year simply because the starters seem to struggle to stay healthy for every game.
