    This.

I'm not believing a coach would actually pitch this to a lineman. I'm also not believing a lineman would really want this, unless by "early" he means in 2 years...

If I'm a lineman I absolutely would be looking for near guarantee of a RS first year.

    You're naïve, then

    We aint getting Hookfin.

If this comes down to the fact that Texas wants to RS him - and Baylor is promising him a chance to play as a freshman - then that kid is insane.

Some kids have moronic dads who give them bad advice about how they shouldn't redshirt when they're about 30 pounds too light

We could have lied to him and said he could compete right away, but then you're risking him pulling a Michael Williams or Jean Delance.

Moral of the story is the kid's dad is an idiot who doesn't understand offensive line growth curves

Yeah, one thing Crouch has said the entire time during the recruiting process is that winning matters to him, and he wants to go to a team that is playing for championships. Tennessee was all but eliminated awhile ago, and it looked like a Clemson/Michigan battle, so this development is definitely a head scratcher.

Crouch is an amazing talent, but he doesn't really have a defined position. The real kick in the nuts for Clemson is that it's looking like they are about to lose a 4* OL that everyone assumed was Clemson bound. OL seemingly continues to be the only position Clemson struggles recruiting.

Hasn't he also been injured all year?

Sure it would be in poor form, and I don't think Herman is the type of cutthroat coach who would risk creating problems in the locker room to bring in Fields with Ehlinger doing well, but Fields would take that starting spot if he did transfer in.

I don't think this is necessarily true. Ehlinger was a fucking stud this year, and it's not like Fields was able to beat out Fromm

Either way, Fields isn't going to risk going somewhere where there's a reasonable chance he doesn't win the job immediately once eligible

that's a beast of a depth chart to be going up against and a pretty interesting move

To be fair, Rodney Anderson isn't returning. But yeah, much easier road to playing time at Texas.

Fields family consulting attorney to find out if they can turn UGA in and not sit a year?  Do they have to give the money back?  Lots of legalese to filter through.

They're saying because he encountered racism at Georgia, he should be able to transfer and play right away

Oh I didn't know Mowery had grade issues.  We have no interest in Ellison.

I think going forward when you see long time committed players not sign early, it should be a sign that there's a decent chance the player needs to work on his grades or SAT/ACT

Aggy boards talking like Mowery and Ellison may get "processed" ( doesn't look like either is signing early ), is Mowery a guy we'd be interested in?

Not if they don't qualify. Mowry is supposed to visit after the dead period

Nickel guys on the depth chart:

    • Thompson
    • Jamison? (maybe?)

Green, Cook, Boyce are outside guys I think?

that's kind of the issue and why Catalon is important? evidently they think he can play there (per IT guys IIRC)

The way we currently utilize our nickel, I don't think Jamison can hold up in the run game

Brown probably can't cover slot receivers down the field well enough

Thompson makes the most sense. If he gets hurt, then it might have to be Sterns or maybe Cook

But shouldn’t you know that when you’re part of a 2 QB class with 2 upperclassmen. Gotta know realistic best case scenario is 3rd string and you won’t see the field for a couple of years

Kids are told that, but sometimes they don't understand it until they're hardly getting any reps at practice

Isn’t that where Jamison is projected to?

*Nickel, not South Austin’s mom’s gaping hole. Although I guess it could be both.

Jamison has no chance at nickel with the current way the position is used, so they either need to change the position or move him to outside corner

Catalon is 5’9” and maxed out physically.  he doesn’t have the quick twitch that kyler murray has.  he’s a phenomenal high school player but I don’t see him as much of a loss seeing as we want to compete for championships.

I like him a lot as a safety/nickel where his tremendous instincts, football IQ, and ball skills make a difference, but his lack of uncommon physical traits, recent bad injury, and Naivar's ability to recruit safeties at an elite clip have me not caring too much about where he decides to go. I actually wouldn't mind him going to Arkansas to help beat A&M every once in awhile, if it's not Texas.

There has to be something going on with Houston. The theory was that he decommited because OU wanted him but they still haven't offered.

His SR film either isn't good or there are other issues like qualification issues.

A lot of recruitnick posters have said they don't think the senior hudl looks great
