3 of 6 openings filled with black candidates, and Bienemy didn’t get an interview unless he was the commanders Rooney qualifier. He is a raging asshole with some DV history. He kinda proved he was Reid’s assistant principal, the asshole to counter his captan Kangaroo and do the dirty work. But not calling plays. Or making them.

The media used him as the poster child for black coaches not getting a shot. There’s a reason that has nothing to do with his color.

No OC under Reid has ever called plays. The fact that it was made a narrative about him and not any other Andy Reid OC (Nagy, Pederson, Mornhinweg, or Childress) over the years is telling. People should've just said he's an asshole and that was preventing him from getting traction, but going on and on about him not calling plays when no other Reid OC called played was ridiculous.

  2. Why is the hiring of Kliff Kingsbury being reported as the firing of Eric Bienemy? Since when is a new head coach hiring a new OC reported as him firing the old OC who never worked for him? Seems like they're going out of their way to claim that Eric Bienemy was fired.  Didn't all of the newly hired head coaches essentially fire the staffs of the previous head coaches?

  3. Hunter just lacks composure at times and his handle has always been sketchy. Sometimes he's just seems to be a slight beat off. Like he'll make a really good look, but the pass will be just off or come in too hot. He'll still have his games where he's really impactful we just have to do a better job of maintaining when he's off his game. The addition of Weaver as major contributor will help to weather those moments as we progress during the season.

  4. I'm actually higher on Mitchell than I was last year. He's displayed more skill over the past 2 games than he had over the previous year and half. He's been a bit more aggressive on the offensive end and he's started to knock down that 15 to 17 ft shot fairly consistently.  When he makes quick decisions, without hesitation, especially off of that fake ball handoff action, he's going to have openings to go strong to the basket. If we can start utilizing his quickness off of that action, especially with how aggressively teams guard Abmas, his passing ability is going to open things up. He seems like the kind of player who is going to improve significantly once he becomes a pro and can completely dedicate himself to improving. Plus you can tell he's a coachable player. Compare his willingness to play within himself to someone like Greg Brown who basically had a similar skillset.

Our inability to get Abmas better looks in the flow of these big games is puzzling. He's one of the best catch-and-shoot guys out there, but he's having to settle for so many highly contested shots. I know other teams are focused on him, but still. Just one or two extra open looks per game could alter our season.

They ran a double pick action to him multiple times throughout the game and he missed one wide open shot and decided not to shoot it 2 other times.

Shedrick and Horton were mega whiffs in the portal. Sigh.

Shedrick was actually pretty good to start the season.  He had a 20+ point game early on,  but the injuries have clearly taken a toll.

If teams can squint and convince themselves they see Aaron Donald, it's gonna get him drafted really early.

I've always thought short, but long-armed DTs are a market inefficiency in the NFL, but Murphy is both short and has short arms. He'd truly be an anomaly if he became as dominant as Aaron Donald.

It will be good to take another look 3 weeks from now at which teams fall within those constraints. Most teams have only played about 4 or 5 conference games.

  9. I think the gutting has to due with financial issues.  According to the Buf Elliot and some of thr guys on the Saturday's Down Podcast the stuff coming out about how much of an NIL discount having Saban as their coach got Bama is shocking. And as a result their NIL budget is severely lacking now that they have to operate on equal terms with everyone else.

I think I also fall into this a bit.  I prefer my kids to socialize and be around children of like minded parents who give a damn and do not treat schools like daycares, but that comes with the access to time/healthcare and more importantly, money.   Heck, one of the administrators talked with my wife and I, and basically said in code for us to keep our kid in the Vanguard program and do not let him take gen ed classes with the majority.

As far as I'm concerned,  that's pretty much modus operandi for any public school regardless of the quality of the district .  When we started looking into the schools around the area I immediately started looking into GT testing and prepping my oldest (4 yrs old at the time) for it. I figured it would be easier to test into GT the earlier he did it and I was correct in my assumption. My son got in which wasn't surprising for him but that early exposure to testing (especially with the abstract nature of GT tests at younger ages) was definitely critical for my daughter who also qualified for GT when she was 4. I believe HISD recently changed their protocol for GT testing and don't allow for it in preK anymore, but I could be wrong.

It is very obvious how broken the public school system is, how underfunded the SPED programs are, and how the TEA is purposely fucking over HISD, the teachers, students, and anyone who sees education as something beyond a daycare.   The quality of some my my son's middle school teachers is appalling.   That they hire people with no education background is harmful to the students.

My son has an Art class where most of the kids play computer games and watch youtube.  The teacher claims the access to computers in Art is for their benefit.  If they can just watch youtube to learn now to draw then why the fuck does she have a job?  Just sluff this off on a PE teacher?

I just did a tour of Frank Black Middle school last November for my 5th grader and I must have gotten a complete snow job if what you say is true. The art teacher showed us some of the projects the kids were working on to present at the rodeo and they were extremely impressive. He even mentioned one of the kids in the previous year sold his art work for 10s of thousands of dollars there.  Prior to this year I heard so many great things about Frank Black that it was a no brainer to send my kids there, but after all of the horror stories about uninterested teachers and fighting, I've decided to sit down and fill out the magnet application today. I guess Hogg, Lanier, and/or TH Rogers will move Frank Black down the list.

Weaver should start over Brock. Easiest starting personnel change we can make. Weaver basically gives you everything Brock does with more explosion and guard skill. Let Brock get his 20 mins from the bench.

Brock guards interior guys though. Weaver can't do that.

Strange game. There was a few drops and the passes at the LOS were just annoying. I dont think Quinn was bad. I dont think he was great. I dont remember a pass that went behind Worthy, I remember the one sideline that may have hit the DBs foot. TO be honest Quinn might have been one of the best offensive players for Texas last night, that is the issue. I can not name an offensive player that had an A game. You can say the same for the defense. None of the Texas stars stepped up and played great. Washington's stars were great last night. Trice was teh best defensive player of the field. Penix and WRs were great.

I thought J'Tavion Sanders had a good game.

Michigan is going to win next week for 2 reasons:

They will run the ball all night and control TOP.  And they will generate an effective pass rush.

Penix will still put up good numbers.   But not even close to his game last night.

Does Michigan have more overall talent than Texas?  Nope.

But they have a much better coach who will scheme a winning game plan with one week to prepare as opposed to Sark who had 4 weeks and still looked unprepared.

Michigan will potentially have 20 guys drafted in the coming draft.

Would that Ewers was that guy.  I just don't think he is and that actually may be one of the problems with this team.

As I keep saying, I think this team is a little bit mindfucked still and I think a fiery leader (who himself is not mindfucked) might have helped us move past that.

I'm hopeful that Ewers will show more of what we saw against Oklahoma St in terms of his ability to get to his 2nd and 3rd reads more quickly. Also an understated fact about the switch from the Big 12 to the SEC is the hubris that comes with DCs in the SEC leads to fewer complicated defensive schemes and tactics. They're so confident in their personnel that they tend to play simpler schemes. Ewers will see a lot more man to man and simple coverages next year compared to what he's seen in the Big 12. Outside of maybe Arkansas and Vandy that 3 safety flyover defense is a thing of the past. SEC coaches have caught up with the rest of the college football on the offensive side of the ball, but theyre still old school NFL in terms of their mentality and willingness to innovate on the defensive side, of the field.

It will be much improved. Add a legit S prospect from the portal and it could be an entirely different unit. Muhammad is a fucking stud. We got the kid from Clemson coming also Williams a true fresh with more time to develop. I’m sure there is more but I’d expect a major leap in improvement.

Honestly, our safeties weren't really that bad yesterday which was surprising. Washington didnt attack them like we assumed they would. They went after our corners with total abandon though.

Dumb hypothetical but on the second to last possession with 4 yds to go on the seven, does anybody think Sweat or Murphy could have carried the ball and at least half of the Washington defense for at least a first down?

It would've taken huge balls but I almost thought we were going to go with a QB draw right there. The LBs dropped back and it was available for the taking.

Gameplan on WA side was legit. The took away AD and X, confused the hell out of Quinn, he’s a 20 year old soph that can happen. Covid extra year QBs need to GTFO. We had two true freshman trying to contain legit pro receivers and a QB that’s about to get PAID.

I don’t agree Texas didn’t get pressure. Blitz packages were stupid. Delays did nothing but give Penix time to set up and read it coming.  But we were “this” close to sacking him 3-4 times. Penix clearly got healthy and was fresh and more elusive than I expected. His ability to sense and side step pressure was NFL caliber now.

we all screamed run the ball, the offense wasn’t in sync but 7+ yards a carry was huge. Then two fumbles.

    damn.

that all suggests we lose by 14-20 points.

I think we made it a year early. We need a WR, DT, TE, possibly a S and this team is better than this year by a lot.

Penix has the lowest sack% in college football despite being pressured at a relatively high level. Outside of deep ball accuracy, sack avoidance is his best asset.
