Random thought last night after I said “Thank you” to Alexa... what happens in the future when we accidentally create something that’s sentient but the coding prevents us from realizing it? At that point, the coding is like a slave chain, and we would unknowingly be slave owners. What if there’s something out there that’s already at that point?
We’ll make great pets.

I rather like this little ditty from Sean Ono Lennon and Les Claypool. They're playing Emo's on Monday.

Just finished the game. Wow.
Didn’t care for it during the first chapter, but it grew on me quick after that.
Great game. Wish there was a Deadwood language mod. Cock suckers!

I made it my resolution one year to read Infinite Jest exclusively on the toilet. Finally finished it at about 4:30pm on 12/31.
That’s a long shit

This lawn supervisor was out on a sprinkler maintenance job and he started working on a Findlay sprinkler head with a Langstrom 7″ gangly wrench. Just then, this little apprentice leaned over and said, “You can’t work on a Findlay sprinkler head with a Langstrom 7″ wrench.” Well this infuriated the supervisor, so he went and got Volume 14 of the Kinsley manual, and he reads to him and says, “The Langstrom 7″ wrench can be used with the Findlay sprocket.” Just then, the little apprentice leaned over and said, “It says sprocket not socket!”
Can’t stop laughing....
this is only true if you’re facing port

I can’t even imagine being such a fucking loser that I would have to pick apart every word written about OU and try to twist it around to put them in a bad light. It’s one my favorite things about aggy. They so desperately want to be seen as UTs equal.
Plus, aggy makes it easy. Box of rocks can aggy.

Not sucking up to the nukes in this thread, but that program is considered the most difficult non-special forces training in the entire enlisted navy.
They work super hard and have my respect.
As a combat systems sailor I had TS clearance and learned the art of extreme troubleshooting. If your mission critical gear is down, you have to jump that shit back to live. We’re all counting on you.jpg.
Technical sailors are highly sought in the workforce because we have been trained to keep shit working, often without the supplies required in the opps manuals. Our reward? Sleep. If your shit is working you get to sleep. My precious
If I had to do it again, I’d skip breaking my arm while diver training. That’s what I really wanted to be.

I feel dirty trying to think of BS positives. Fuck this thread

Joined Navy as Nuke candidate back before internets. Totally suckered by recruitment dollars and impulsive in the decision.
I had 4 months before shipping out and discovered an uncle that had been a Nuke. He was very successful in life, but his line of work couldn’t be more different than nuclear reactor shit so I was pretty surprised.
I asked him about his experience. Pretty damn close to how blacklab described it.
I changed my rate to sonar tech and had a relatively awesome experience. I mean daily life was all shitty, but I had great watch-standing in air conditioning. I volunteered for a whole bunch of extra shitty duty because I saw how much harder the engineering shipmates had it.
Aye aye fuck it.
Side note. I was kind of like your kid: skip the homework and bring on the tests.
I know for a fact that I would have never graduated from UT without the maturity and discipline the service instilled.
