  1. Arch is probably going to make some absurd plays and head scratching mistakes in pursuit of a few more. I'm excited to see what the offense looks like with a credible vertical threat.
But really next season's result is directly correlated to how well we shore up the interior lines in the wake of major talent/experience departures on both sides of the ball. The next seven months are going to be lots of circular discussion that ultimately lands there.
He's going to give everyone frustrated with Quinn exactly what they want, but that will likely come with more than a few picks, ill advised shovel passes and getting rocked into a fumble if he doesn't learn to slide.

That said it will be nice to have a fearless QB that can actually put an opponent away when they're on their game, and not just a lesser opponent. Having a consistent running game plus a dual threat QB should do wonders for us in the RedZone. We shall see.

  2. I refrained from posting in this thread long enough, so here I am.

We can debate the calls on 4th and one and also on D with 29 secs left till half all the way to the start of the '25 season, but it won't change anything. Yes, I believe we could have taken down the Domers for the first championship since '05, but we'll never know now.

I think this team pretty much maxed out it's potential this year, (notice I said "pretty much") especially starting off with limited options in the running game which affected the offense as a whole. The defensive line exceeded expectations, and with a few exceptions our DB's did a good job of limiting opposing passing games from going off on us.

That said I'm proud of the way the team went about their business this year and have a feeling next season's version of the Longhorns won't be the type to lose to Georgia twice and mostly avoid the type of mistakes that almost cost us the Zona State game and finally bit us in the ass vs tOSU. In any case we get the opportunity for near instant revenge in game one. Hook em

  3. I wonder if the talking heads will talk themselves into Texas somehow beating big, bad tOSU like they did talking about how ASU could beat big, bad SEC Texas?

All that aside, lots of shit to clean up in our play or this game will be end of the line. Quinn may need to play like the gunslinger he was his first year as a Longhorn.

  4. Been watching a lot of YT talking heads discussing the playoffs and several have gone from "ASU could give Texas a game" to some talking themselves into 'zona State actually winning. Lulz

Don't get me wrong, anything could happen...but it's funny how in an effort to hype up this game some of those clowns really started believing their own bullshit.

  5. Drives me crazy that their punter got hurt and we STILL weren't looking for the fake.
Felt the same way about the last play. They send in Beck with a broken arm and we STILL couldn't stop that run up the gut.
Not to mention our special teams coordinator gets paid as much or more than some D2 head coaches. I like Banks as a recruiter, but special teams have been hit or miss for sure.

  6. Nowhere near enough love for this guy.  Has been a rock all year for the good guys.    great pick up.

Not exactly the prototypical DT body type, but he does get shit done. Good eval in the portal.

  7. Fuck that as well, DKR will hopefully never again be defiled by aggy or gooner. Cotton Bowl or nothing.
I see my post didn't age well, one of the two will indeed be defiling DKR next year.

My point still stands though, idc if I have to bring lawn chairs because the stands at the Cotton Bowl have crumbled to dust, no Jerryworld..not ever.
  8. I would look weird to go on and win the Title and still have to move on from Quinn...

    But fuck it.
If we manage to win it all (with Quinn behind center) there is zero chance he plays another year of college ball anywhere. That would be just the bump he needs to move up a few spots in the draft.

  9. Notre Dame isn’t the same team they were in September. They’ve been mauling people for six weeks and are a legit contender.
Much like people are saying about our schedule, exactly who have the Domers mauled?

If you look at it that way then the power of touchdown Jesus wasn't needed for most of their games.
  10. I think I’ve mentioned it before but how we handle the RB room is going to be fascinating. If Blue comes back, you are going to have him, Wisner and Gibson all expecting to touch the ball fairly regularly in 2025 + Baxter coming off injury. Clark probably factors into the conversation more in 2026. Returning from an Achilles at that position feels like a long road. Then you have the 2 freshman who I would assume are headed for redshirts.
7 scholarship RB’s feels like a lot. You almost certainly are losing someone if you bring in a portal guy.
I think Choice can always point to this season (or depth in pretty much any teams RB room by this point) as reasons why touches will be available to any back that can hit the right holes and hang on to the ball.
