Wasn’t Charles Wright behind walk-ons on the depth chart last year? I think the plan is going to be that Card plays even if he’s in a wheelchair.
Sark said in the presser that he's improved a lot and knows the offense

So if Card can't go, we are down to QB 4 then.
If Card can't go, we have QB3 in Wright, correct?

Maalik is "not healthy."
So who is QB4 if Card is out and something happens to Wright?

Do we have an update on Card's health? That seems to be the most important factor for the UTSA game.
11:30 (presser - should get injury updates)

If they rest Bijan, it would be nice to see Jonathon Brooks gets some early action in this game. Would like to see what he can do with the 1s
Me too. Brooks is intriguing as one of those guys who absolutely lit it up against not-great competition. What's his ceiling? We don't know, cause he's never been pushed. He could be outstanding, though.

If the goal is to win the Big 12, this game means nothing except optics. Trotting A hurt Card out there to potentially be out for TT/WV is stupid. Let him rest
The goal should be to keep our recruiting class. Right now, we have a massive advantage over our biggest in-state recruiting rival, as we played Bama tight while they lost to app state at home. If UTSA wins, we lose ALL that momentum. The fact that we were on QB3 and missing other key players won't even be a footnote in the narrative. We have to win this one.

Card can barely walk today.....IT belives Wright most likely gets to start. Card will be a gametime decision if anything.
It's probably best for the team if Wright is able to start this week and we make it through UTSA so we have card rested and ready to go for conference play until Ewers is back.
Yeah, even if Card is serviceable by Saturday, he'll have missed a week of practice. You plan to start Wright, work in RoJo wildcat (perhaps a bit heavier than usual), and, if possible have Card available in case the shit really hits the fan.

to me, Wright is the definition of a 3rd string QB...which is NOT bad.
if the coaching staff thought basically anything of him, he would have played in the Bama game based on what we saw from Card - immobile for much of the game, throwing off back foot, etc. throwing him into the fire would have been less than ideal BUT clearly the staff thinks Card on 1 leg > Wright on 2
It might also be that Card had a much better grasp on this game plan.

The way he landed was ripe for a shoulder injury though.
I don't mind the initial hit at all. He was coming in fast and trying to make a play. What I DO mind--a lot--is how he finished the tackle once the ball was out of the QB's hands. That's when you need to pull up. Maybe the momentum still pushes Quinn to the ground, but there's no need to finishthe tackle, driving him into the ground with the defender on top. That's just dirty, malicious play.

Are we shrugging this off? I know there’s little to no information outside of the headline. Just checking.
Not shrugging it off, but we probably won't get reliable info until tomorrow's presser.

Did Roschon come to Texas as a QB recruit? I seem to remember him being moved to RB because of a need at that position. He's actually one of the strongest/toughest runners at that position in college.
Yes. Granted, he was going to be buried in the depth chart... but so is Wright. Who knows.
Do we know for sure that Bijan is available (shoulder)? When I say I want to see Roschon in the wildcat, I'm assuming we have Bijan.

Okay I'm just asking because I honestly don't know the answer.
Why would several of you be calling for Charles Wright if Card can't go?
All I heard about Maalik Murphy (and this was before Ewers was on board, I think) was that he was some kind of all world talent. To be fair, I'm basing this on comments or tweets I saw from Ketchum, who was suggesting that Murphy was a "6-Star" QB.
I don't know anything about the season Murphy wound up having last fall.
In all the QB3 situations, Wright has been the one to play. That tells me that he's #3 in sark's mind and ahead of Murphy at the moment. Maybe that's based on understanding of the playback, time in the program, who knows, but I'll trust him to know his team.
If Card can't play, I'd love to see Wright be the QB with perhaps an even split with Roschon running wildcat plays. Especially if Roschon can pass every now and then.

I’m not sure that a 1-5 aggy team travels to South Carolina and wins.
Maybe they'll "get covid."

I love the season. Aggy is so obnoxiously arrogant in the offseason. It only takes a few games to shut them up.

Dude, Card looked good yesterday. Against the best defense in the country. Yes, Quinn looked better--arguably much better--but Card got the ball to his playmakers, kept drives going, and didn't look nearly as spooked as he did last year, all while obviously injured. We're significantly better this year if Quinn returns soon, but if Card plays and looks like he did yesterday, we'll have some good wins.

Buddy. This is so true.
I told my pop leaving the game that the last emotional loss like this for this team, we wound up losing 5 in a row.
Now, I think we all saw a different team out there, but let’s move on and crush the RoadrunnersYes, the difference is that we should have won vs OU but lost because our defense looked terrible. By contrast, yesterday, we "should have" been blown away, but we kept it tight because our defense played so well. One outcome gives you hope, and the other crushes it.

App State will be ranked, what, #5? Since they beat the undisputed #6? /s

Bama is going to move the ball. I would expect 500 yards of total offense. The key is to tackle on those short throws and not let those become big plays. Buckle down in the red zone and force a bunch of FGs.
"Bend, but don't break." I remember being frustrated early on with Will Muschamp because our defense gave up so many yards. But he kept opposing teams out of the end zone, and we won games.
-
A team led by Haynes King is ranked #6. Let that sink in.

Who is the other guy? Ballard or Wright. I thought Wright had legit offers.
