We really need to see some investment in these schools. Look at Mississippi as an example...

    Endowment:

    Ole Miss: $775M

    Mississippi State: $700M

    Southern Miss: $300M

    Jackson State: $60M

    Alcorn State: $20M

    Mississippi Valley State: $2.7M (!!!)

Something's being said here about blacks and being endowed, right?

I chose to go to OU.  I was easily into UT - financially it was an issue for me as I was out of state, unlike the rest of my extended family.  My brother went to Johns Hopkins.  I was put on a wait list at a top med school and decided I didn't want to wait a year and went to what was considered a total shithole med school compared to Hopkins and where I was wait listed.  I also had several MD/MBA options but felt my undergrad business degree taught me all I needed for what I wanted to do in the business/medical field.  Trust me, lots of people thought I was a total bozo for these decisions.  I laugh at everyone who went to those schools today as I've banked well into the 9 figures doing what I do founding and still running the largest group in my specialty.  Fuck Hopkins, Harvard, and McCombs.

Yeah, but think how much better off you'd be if you had Coach Derka plan things for you.

wow. so far everyone in this thread thinks it's a good idea. if my son were the no.1 or no.2 overall player in HS football i would never ever ever let him take a giant step backwards by going to play against such inferior competition, not only on his schedule, but day in and day out in practice. i'd rather see my son go play pro in Canada or Europe than see him go waste his time by surrounding himself exclusively with players/competition who are totally beneath him.

Observation- in 2000, UH pulled the “bleacher gate” stunt and pushed off Bellmont. Texas hasn’t played them yet in football, after being willing to schedule them before.

observation- in 1984, an angry SMU paid PIs to dig up recruiting dirt on SWC rivals, getting mild NCAA penalties on UT for mild violations. Texas hasn’t scheduled SMU in football since the SWC breakup.

There is a chance (and I hope it’s so) that Bellmont, mild mannered, agreeable and polite as it is, has an elephant’s memory and a vindictive streak. These B12 schools that think they’re going to gouge Texas on the way out and then schedule us down the road may be in for a surprise. Of course, the administrations will turn over in a few years, but the fan bases won’t.

Nobody has scheduled aggy in football and that would be a nice payday. Other sports? it'll happen for sure.

Great, 80 degrees and muggy this afternoon when I'm going to my daughter's elementary school gingerbread making party outside.

I'll be sweating and all the milfs will think it's because I'm nervous around all the hot yoga pant swamp ass.

    And yes, yes I am.

fify. Don't let appearances fool ya.

have to say that's the best photo you've posted so far

Thanks. I'm a bit ashamed to say that the shot came about quite serendipitously. I had the table set, I'd been messing with it all day trying different sizes, colors and shapes of bowls, some dried pecan leaves, some bits and pieces of broken pecan shell etc... using the light from a window to the immediate LEFT that provides a really soft light. I wasn't happy with what I was getting and had gone and gotten a tripod and a wider angle lens and just happened to be there as the light from the other window started to sweep across the table late in the day. I started clicking away, frantically adjusting to eliminate the blown highlights and keep the subject matter within the beam of light.

Intending no comment other than a true fact, companies rewarding long term employees with compensation commensurate with their industry peers (and consideration when cuts are made) is not a thing in this century. My dad worked for the same company his whole career, now that is a great way to make sure you spend your career not getting paid.

Not going to argue that! I didn't want to go too deep into it but suffice to say the times have changed. Much like Elvis, farming and factory work have left the building.

this is factually incorrect, and the idea that anyone could believe this baffles me. seemingly everyone in my parents generation just got an education, got some $30,000/yr job, went and bought a house or some property, and happily and easily raised 2, 3, 4, 5 kids, all while being able to take vacations and shit. you think that NOW is a better time in America? where i live, and for the people i know, right now is literally the worst America has ever been in our lifetimes. economic crises, a global pandemic, completely unaffordable housing, education and healthcare, a country divided by the two party system, with everyone in washington DC completely unable to work together, and you say this is yhe best time to ever be an American? tell me you're a 1%er without telling me you're a 1%er.

Did your parents get and keep the same job? Stable employment solves a lot of the issues that arise during a lifetime.

Find a legal immigrant who is roughly your own age and follow them for the next 30 years. This is the best US they've ever know so it should be interesting. Report back.

Oh, my prediction on the fall of the US? The South will rise again! Mine eyes have seen the Glory!!
