The coaches of all rivals, major and minor, should be called.  If we're not interested, we should pretend to be.  Getting their salaries increased reduces the amount of money the schools can spend on competing against us.

  2. To the people who place their faith in the power of the money whip.... Evidence is mounting that people who are already rich can't be money-whipped.  Principle of diminishing marginal utility, Econ 101.

Also, if college football really were an activity in which you could simply buy your way to the top, would doing so really be worthwhile?

I think things are trending badly, but Brown's report said Meyer told Texas he's leaning toward no, and then the source quote said "if he's a no, then..." and continued.

So Brown is reporting that a source said that Meyer is leaning toward no, and then headlines it that it's over.

This is what I have been thinking about lately.  Let's say Meyer is worth $30 milllion, but he can do something really special for his family tree.  He can add up to $50 million to the bottom line in the next six/seven years . I am still thinking his ego will require a deal bigger than Jimbo's.  I am thinking 6 years at 13 million = 78 million, bigger than Jimbo, so the ego is satisfied.  Then comes the thing about Saban.  I think Urban thinks he only needs one, but two more championships at Texas puts him in the conversation with Saban as the best of all-time.   This is the best opportunity Urban is going to get, unless Clemson or Alabama were to come open. The cherry on top of the sundae is the extremely weak big12.  Look at that talent yesterday.  Here is a freshman totally rested and ready, earning 19 yards per carry!  He only has to beat Oklahoma to get into the big 12 championship game, and he has the state of Texas to recruit from.  This is totally a no-brainer for Urban, imo.

On the other hand, maybe Meyer is repulsed by the "soap opera" aspect of taking the job, which he would effectively be usurping from Herman.  As long as we're guessing.

  5. The idea that the team "getting COVID" has anything to do with the coaching situation is absurd.  To believe that, you not only have to believe that everyone in involved in the decision lacks integrity, but also that players would go along with it (especially seniors) without speaking up.

Those Olajuwon teams were really good.

But don’t fucking kid yourself. Literally zero people outside of Houston agree with you.

WGAS who "would have won"? Chicago's star player pussed out and ran off to play baseball for two years.  Championships are won on the field of play.  The first requirement is actually showing up to compete.  If Jordan had stuck around, he may have had a career-ending injury, or the entire team might have died in a plane crash.  Or maybe just lost to Houston--even the better team doesn't always win.  Nobody knows, and it's useless wankery to speculate.  Houston has the skins on the wall, and that's all that matters.  Their championships are just as legit as all others.

20 minutes and Texas will finally, officially, be knocked out of conference title contention.

Being in contention for a championship this late in the season is a mighty feather in Herman's cap.

Well, shit.  There it is, folks.  The wokerati have made their intentions clear.  If it's Meyer, there will be no peace until he's fired.  University leadership (I don't care which one) is too fucking cowardly to stand up to this kind of extortion.

Serious question, can Texas afford to buyout during the pandemic?

Money isn't an issue.  But whether Texas can afford it politically -- that's another question.  It certainly would be "bad optics" to be dropping huge sums on buyouts and hiring bonuses, while everyone else is suffering in austerity.

Hasn't stopped some other schools from pulling the trigger, though.

  10. OL is the most important unit on the team, bar none.  If you don't have an OL coach, you don't have shit.  Until we properly prioritize this position (if it means paying an OL coach OC money, so be it), we will continue to suck.

Can we at least find humor in the fact a bunch of people are accusing a bunch of people for virtue signaling because they stopped participating in virtue signaling?

Obviously you and I agree on basically nothing, but isn’t that at least funny to you?

You're seriously confused.  This isn't "virtue signaling".  If anything, it's "solidarity signaling".  It's saying "I'm with you" regardless of whether you suck.

It's no different than gang signs, etc.  Or do you think Bloods and Crips are also "virtue signaling" when they wear their gang's colors?

One source noted that Texas’ offense is ranked fourth in the country with a 53.7 percent passing completion rate.  “You know what is?” the source said. “It is because Tom’s offense knows how to impose their f-ing will on other teams. That’s why. They do the same thing over and over again on third-down. Why? Because it works.”

How can a 53.7% completion rate possibly be anywhere near fourth in the country?

Pierce blamed the millennials during the radio pre-game.    I don't think college kids are millennials.

Is he planning on recruiting some people from another generation next year, or does he plan on sucking again?
