If he really has decided, I don't get why they're waiting to announce. From our perspective, 1. Don't want him to have more time to change his mind and 2. Start the hype train for recruiting others.

Making a weekend splash doesn't seem any more helpful than announcing yesterday.

Maybe all of the recruits want to announce at the same time.

    Not quite.

But I still know plenty of hot Texas Exes in their 30s and 40s.

If the student body has declined since, what's the reason?

    Edit: NVM

  3. Man I really hope they make Stoops the interim for a year. Nothing is more reassuring to recruits than, "I don't know who the next head coach will be, but I know he will be the right coach for the job! Unlike the last coach I hand picked that bolted for a better gig!" Imagine being scared of a lame duck head coach.

This is exactly what we needed, when we needed it. Also, OU fans that are happy about this are delusional. I remember when 10 wins wasn't enough.

No, two of those were with the preseason Heisman favorite third year QB. How quickly people forget.

I don't think any Texas fans have forgotten that OU has been cranking out Heisman QB's. The majority of your post was about this season. Of course their offensive numbers will regress with a true freshman QB. OU has gotten marginally worse I suppose but they aren't bad. He also developed Baker and Kyler, and even Jalen I suppose, into the NFL starters they are today. I see where people are coming from when they argue he couldn't get it done with Heisman quarterbacks, but I don't think its fair, because I don't think they would have been near as good had they played elsewhere.

This is the exact issue. Texas fans are viewing this from the perspective of how shitty our program has been. Lots of our fanbase would absolutely agree with letting Riley go if we were in their position. He's a very good coach but he is not a $12M/yr coach. Step out of the Texas fan perspective for a minute.

OU has gotten worse every year under him, they scored zero second half points against OSU last night to blow a conference title. In their games against decent defenses this season they scored

23 against Nebraska (2 ST points - PAT return)
    16 against West Virginia
    14 against Baylor
28 against Iowa State (7 defensive points)
33 against Oklahoma State (9 defensive/ST points and zero offensive points in the second half)

So in games against decent defenses their offense scored 21, 16, 14, 21, 24

Now imagine the offensive genius who put that out there was asking you to double his salary. We'd say "see ya" just like OU did.

    With a true freshman QB

Yeah. It's so ridiculous. Everyone on the cesspool that is /r/cfb is bitching about it or at least acknowledging it and I'm sitting here wondering if they've ever watched a fucking Big12 game OU has been in.

I got banned today for telling an Ohio state fan to take the loss. I also called him a pussy.
