Lol. I know you are probably being facetious but Texas is an easier job than ND. I don't see Urban wanting the ND job.
For what its worth Brett McMurphy on Kirk Bohls' pod this morning said ND would be his first choice. Now that is just an opinion because there is zero chance that he has any insider info on Urban after the Zach Smith saga he spear headed.

Both Nahlin and Hamilton at IT heard Brian Kelly's name pop up yesterday but they think it is misdirection and donors trying to create some leverage.

While I agree with the sentiment from Ian, the Sugar Bowl gave Tom an extra year thus allowing us a chance at Urban. Had they not won that game then we would be stuck with Matt Campbell right now.

In case more folks are looking for names in CDC's history, here is his bio from TexasSports and a listing of where he has been:
- TCU - 09+
- Rice (06-09)
- Arizona (00-06)
- Washington State (98-99)
- Cal Poly (94-98)
Oh great it will be either John Mackovic or Mike Stoops.

was that the one where Texas wasn't a part of the cap and Tom showed up un announced anyways, to greet Anthony Cook who tosu was after?
Not sure he just mentioned it briefly. Back then I only followed recruiting on a macro level.

On the other hand, if they weren't friends, if there was any animosity, it would be a plus reason for Meyer to take a UT job.
TIFWIW but Jeff Howe at 247 said something went down at one of the Houston satellite camps and he would be "shocked" if there was any kind of relationship there.

He'd take the USC job for less than the Texas job.
Why? Money wont be the #1 factor but why take less money and pay a higher tax rate?
Also if he wants to clean his image USC may not be the best place to go. Since the Reggie Bush scandal they have had the Sarkisian debacle and the admissions scandal inside the athletic department. This is probably why USC did not higher him last year.

Kyle doesn't strike me as a guy who'd go CFB over NFL. Dude's been around the league his whole life.
But am curious if any of the BMDs would push hard for it, and if he'd at least listen for two seconds. That's my main interest, because I seriously doubt he'd jump, and honestly not sure how well he'd do.
He and the GM are under contract until 2025 I believe. Would take another 2 or 3 bad years for him to leave or get fired.
If he gets run off would he come be Urbans OC in 3-4 years and learn the ins and outs of a successful college program? Then he could take over after Urban retires.

What motivates Urban Meyer is an interesting topic. Money always matters, but that's allegedly not his primary driver. Achievement and prestige play roles. The ability to redeem his status as on par with Saban and one of the greatest coaches of all-time is apparently important and there is one clear, inarguable way to create that outcome - win a national title at a 3rd school, which is a feat never before accomplished. If he can do so scandal-free and without having to constantly cheat, even better.
Those are the things more than money that have him interested in both Texas and USC, which are the only legitimate blue bloods expected to be in play any time soon. Getting to also troll Herman as a cherry on top is not something anyone has mentioned as being relevant, but I like to think that if he took the UT job, he'd be doing that regularly.
Texas offers a (still) cleaner recruiting landscape, all of the resources and coverage, and the easiest path of any school to the CFP. This is what's being sold and valued. The guy supposedly got burnt out on all of the cheating, on top of everything else, he was having to deal with at OSU.
Making a dominant 5+ year run with no scandals would also do wonders for his legacy. Would be easy to accomplish at a school like Texas where those have been scarce.

If only we could find a way for USC to take him off our hands for free. He has his buddy Orlando in place and is familiar Harrell. Would make it easier to pay Meyer and his new staff.

But will our Cal Berkeley loving Life UT Admin allow that to happen.?
Isn’t California their model here for the past 2 decades?
Seems like it’s.
Prove me wrong.
Hartzell seems to be more pro sports than Fenves so that is positive data point.

I really hope the BMDs can put the $$$ together this year. If Urban is hired this year, the drop off in recruiting will be minimal.
After he got hired at OSU they had a top 5 class even with looming sanctions. Recruiting would probably be better if hired this year.

Since Urban related...
Looks like the admin/CDC will get a very close look at Meyer during this process. The stars seem to be aligning already.

He’d also likely have 4 national titles if it wasn’t for the post season ban at Ohio state because of Treasell.
This may br the biggest pro to hiring him. He got that team to 12-0 with a post season ban and coming off a 6-6 season.

Wait? How?
That's assuming he replaces everyone. He's been enamored with Ash all off-season so him and his guys stay. Drayton may stay due to familiarity. CDC probably makes him keep most of the staff with Hand as the outlier.

I think we're all discounting the Urban/Mack friendship that could be the key to getting the admin on board. That coupled with his media rehab tour and things could get interesting this off-season.

Wells is hinting at an interview piece with him dropping today. He teased some very positive feedback from the UTEP game
Looks like their first game is Friday, could just be for that.

These opt outs should put the "Our back ups are All Americans and better than the starters" theory to bed for aggy. But then again they never learn do they?
