That would be by far the best thing to come from the corona virus, but I’m not optimistic about it.

The California and Oregon schools are in a rough spot. Both of their state leaders have made it pretty damn clear football in the fall won’t be happening. The question then is can they get the rest of the P5 and maybe entire NCAA on board with waiting til spring? You have to think the SEC would say no and proceed with football in the fall so they can benefit from the money, recruiting, and transfer windfalls that would result. Like you said, the NCAA is the only one who could bring some uniformity to this.

So yeah, this thing is absolutely looking like it will be a cluster fuck. The one thing that could stop it would be a huge second wave in July or August that leads to everyone, including the SEC, having to cancel football in the fall. But even then, we might be right back at this spot in the spring with SEC schools wanting to play and the PAC-12 still not able to based on state law.

SEC will probably kick off if 50% of the USA population is infected.

  2. I'm approaching 80 years old and my views towards sports changed as I aged.  For 30 years I was in my seat for every home game and some road trips.  As ESPN and FOX improved their coverage and traffic and other headaches (weather) became more hassle I decidedly preferred to watch on big screen at home or with friends.  All that said I hope you younger folks continue to show and represent those of us who you complain about refusing to stand the entire game lol.

I cannot imagine the ou game without a crowd.  I have made a promise this year that before much longer I will personally attend another ou game in Dallas.  I haven't been since 2009.

  3. Cowherd tweeted that the Bama vs USC game at ATT Stadium looks doubtful.

Told by two people I trust — USC v Alabama isn’t happening. Trojans can’t even practice in LA potentially for several months. This is why Bama already talking to other possible opponents. Not official but understood. Feeling now that Pac 12 football in spring — much more likely.

Look at used. I got my 2013 model S P85+ with every offered upgrade and only 22,000 miles - in impeccable condition - for under $60,000. 2 years remaining bumper to bumper warranty and 4 total years left on battery and motor. I love my car, best auto purchase I’ve ever made.

Do you still own the car?  What has been your experience?  Still happy with the vehicle?  I know Tesla use to have a showroom in the Houston Galleria but I have no clue if it is open now that the Galleria has reopened.  Can you buy the used vehicle in their showroom?

A long time. They have billions of cash.

The Wisconsin Pension Fund agrees with you.

The State of Wisconsin Investment Board made some big changes in some of its largest stock investments in the first quarter, a period marked with volatility brought on by the coronavirus pandemic .

SWIB, as the board is known, manages state trust funds that at the end of 2019 totaled more than $128 billion, 91% of which falls under the Wisconsin Retirement System.

SWIB sold Apple (ticker: AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT) and Intel (INTC) in the first quarter, and doubled its stake in ride-hailing firm Uber Technologies (UBER). It disclosed the trades in a form it filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The Wisconsin Retirement System is the eighth-largest U.S. public pension fund and, by some measures, among the best. A study by the Pew Charitable Trusts using 2017 data found that Wisconsin had the best-funded state pension, with a funded ratio of 102.7%—meaning it had $1.03 in assets for every $1 in liabilities. The average state was only 69.1% funded, and only seven other states had a funded ratio over 90%. At the end of 2018, the pension remained fully funded.

While the article implies they sold AAPL, MSFT and INTC they just reduced their holdings and still hold a ton of those three stocks.

Tried going through 2 different CFA drive thrus at 2pm today, the line at one was so long it creates issues at the stop light intersection. The other one clogged up an entire shopping center. Unreal, at 2, not even peak lunch!

It has been that way since the March stay home started at the Whataburger in Houston near Voss (Winrock) on San Felipe.  The traffic light at Winrock/San Felipe gets backed up due to the take out crowd.  I wished I could buy Whataburger stock.  It is now privately owned :(.

My exact thought.  I mean, WTF?  Did he also have a folder with him titled "Secret Invasion Plan," with every step laid out, including contact names and numbers?

We're not even competent bad guys these days.  The American Age is over.

I've been saying that ever since the draw in Korea  but WTF, we're still here :)

    Mr. Fink

Thanks Mr. Fink for that uplifting morning message.

While I'm no expert since I lost my ass in March's market, here is a little more positive news for you to chew on this afternoon.  I think the guy is really onto something I just didn't see coming like a speeding train.

Aggy started flirting with the SEC in 1991, if not earlier, when it was becoming clear the SWC wasn't going to last. To be fair, UT was flirting with the SEC, Pac 10, and Big 10 at the same time. Arky obviously made the first move, and Frank Broyles made it clear he wanted UT and A&M to eventually join Arky in the SEC. Any talk of Arky leaving to get away from UT is pure revisionist history.

When the SWC imploded, UT's hope was to join the Pac and A&M wanted to join the SEC. Both wanted to stay together so the compromise was a marriage of convenience with the Big 8. That marriage has worked out about how you'd expect since many of the members had their eye on another partner from the beginning (CU/Pac, A&M/SEC, Mizzou/Big 10 (even though they had to settle for the SEC), UT flirting with the Pac).

Not trying to derail the discussion into conference realignment. Just pointing out that none of this is new, none of it should have been a surprise, and nobody "suddenly cut bait" as described above.

Your first paragraph is spot on.  I take issue with some parts of the second paragraph.  I never fully understood UT and aggy's positioning when Broyles broke away.  I do know for fact Broyles thought he had an agreement with UT and aggy to follow.  Not sure if that was with Royal or Dodds.  I seriously cannot see Dodds ever agreeing to go the SEC.  AS I recall it wasn't UT or aggy wanting to go to SEC so much as it was the the TEXAS LEGISLATURE that quashed any move away from SWC.

  11. Since there is no RMD from our IRA this year I'm thinking of taking that amount anyway and putting the after tax net into my puny Roth.  For some damned reason my investing skills have been better in the IRA than in the Roth, yet nothing to brag about in the IRA either.

Note:  I'm almost 80 and I'm told it is foolish to convert any money into Roth at this age.  If the market tanks, as I think it might, this would probably be a bad decision.  The IRA would become less valuable and subject to smaller future RMD taxes.  However, if the market continues to muddle along wouldn't it make sense to at least juice my under performing Roth?

  12. Relaxed rules regarding hair cuts

Here are some of the rules they will have to follow:

    • One customer per stylist allowed in the establishment, unless they are waiting for service
    • Six feet of distancing between work stations
    • Appointment system encouraged
    • If allowing walk-ins, distancing required for people waiting for service
    • Customers and stylists are strongly recommended to wear masks throughout

Trying to figure out how that pesky mask will work lol.
