  1. Graduated from mccombs with the MPA. 99% of the people I graduated with went to public accounting. Good luck trying to find a company to recruit you at UT aside from public accounting firms. I’m not saying it isn’t possible, it’s just more difficult.

Big 4 gives a bunch of money to McCombs and the professors promote the hell out of them.

i left public accounting in Houston at a big 4 and went to one of my clients and became their corporate controller. You grit your teeth and do it. Kinda like a prostate exam. You know it’s beneficial for you and you hate it, but you gotta do it.

PwC is never leaving my resume. And they paid for the CPA exam.

If you're experiencing that then you're having the keto flu. Drink or eat electrolytes and you'll feel better. Go to the grocery store and get a salt that's called Morton's Lite Salt. It will have both sodium and potassium. I like to mix it with water and lemonade flavored Mio. Also, you may want to have a cup of bone broth a day too. Eat an avocado or dip some pork rinds in guacamole.

You're on the right track, you just need to be sure you're staying on top of your electrolytes. My wife had a co-worker that switched to a ketogenic diet and ended up in the hospital a couple of times because she wasn't managing hers properly, but I think she had some other stuff going on as well.

Thanks for the tip.  Gave my wife that information who is feeling like absolute shit right now.

  3. 316.6 as of Friday afternoon.

Hard to believe I’ve let myself get this bad. Started low carb lifestyle change and exercised over the weekend. Just stepped on the scale. 311.1 as of Monday morning before work. I would imagine 3 pounds of that is water as I’ve been pissing like a racehorse. Apparently that’s normal. Felt like total shit last night but powered through and feel OK this morning. I’m training my body to burn stored fat rather than carb intake.

I have to tell myself that this gets easier and it has over the course of 3 days. Keep on the right path and I can see the rewards.

  4. I haven't played Destiny 2 in about 2 months.  I have 110 hours in it.  I have over 3k hours in D1.  Bungie's inability to do anything that their community crows for has really lost all the faith I have in them as a company to continue making good games.

D2 is absolutely awful when comparing to D1 in just about every way to me.  Their lack of development to implement game changing content will doom the Destiny universe.  Wife and I occasionally turn on D1 and run strikes or do raids with our old group.  Population of D2 is down significantly since release.  Almost Division-esque.

  5. Time for me to start this journey as well.  I honestly need to lose about 100 pounds.  My wife probably needs to shed 15 or so (so she says).  I'd like to get to where I was in high school.  Currently at a 42 waist.  I'm going to do my official high weigh in this weekend and will post here.  I just turned 30 yesterday and have been thinking about getting my weight in check before something comes on down the line.  I work behind a desk all day so my activity level isn't great.  Need to boost that up in the mornings and evenings.

A big thing for me is soda.  I don't booze much but when I do, it's mainly non-low carb beer.  My wife is pretty informed regarding nutrition so I've asked for her help in cooking and lining up meals that are low in carbs and higher in proteins.  Snacks and sodas are going to have to go.  Just finished my last soda.

I'm hoping this thread will keep me accountable by having me document everything that goes on with weigh ins and progress.  Looking forward to it.  I'm sure once I start seeing some results, I'll start to feel better physically and mentally.  I've never really been concerned with watching what I eat/drink but it's time for a lifestyle change.

  6. I never have to worry about my wife's driving.  She was a Smith Driving Instructor? for her last job.  She's probably the safest person I know with regards to driving and knowing her way around.  I have to ask her for directions most of the time because I go to the same place every day (work) and she's out and about with the kid.

Like I've said over on the shag, I feel bad for a lot of you guys.  My wife is intelligent, plays video games with me, drinks (not in excess), is a great mom, still has sex with me, is a good driver, takes care of her vehicle (has the oil changed or changes it herself someones), doesn't really bitch or nag at me.  I feel like I hit the jackpot.

  7. obligatory ditch TEXAS or the longhorn on the front of the jersey.

In all seriousness though, make the fucking uniforms burnt orange, not okie lite orange.

  8. Brought a talking Elmo home for my son yesterday.  My wife just texted me and said that he was trying to put that thing in the trash can.  He's got himself a personality for only being 2 years old.

  9. 1) Utah - lowest expense ration and very good managed funds.  Also, I haven't encountered this yet since my kid is only 2 years old, but I know that Utah's system for getting money out is pretty painless.

    2) You can add a beneficiary to a second kid after you have another.  Each kid gets their own 529 plan associated with their name and SSN.  In 2018, there were some changes that went in to effect that allows parents to take money from a 529 and pay for K-12 grade private schooling.  Take a look at this if you're curious:

    3) Utah makes it pretty simple and straightforward.  You can set up monthly draws from your bank account or you can do lump sum amounts every year.  They also allow you to give a code out to family/people who want to give money for your kid's college fund.  You don't have to do anything other than give them the website and the code.  Very good Christmas/birthday gift idea.

  10. Phil Humber (tossed a perfect game for the White Sox in 2012 I think) was a neighbor of my parents.  Really cool guy and very down to earth.  He's out of baseball now.

Shot craps with Jerry Van Dyke on a cruise.  Hilarious guy.

Played poker at a buddy's house with Brandon Pettigrew (TE for the Lions).  I went to high school with him and played basketball with him in high school.  Very cool guy.

Layout is decent. Dealers okay. I got pissed when they took away the free coffee they used to put out on the side of the room and lowered the comp amount. Will have plenty of games going, just monitor the BravoPoker app.

The 2/5 can play fairly big at times, allows buy in up to $1,000 (similar at Aria). If you want a more manageable 2/5 game then try Bellagio where buy in is capped at $500.

Thanks for the info from everyone.  I'll report back when I have some poker hands to report.
