  1. I agree with the general sentiment but made a slight adjustment there.
  2. Fuck that guy. Who gives a shit what he says. Well, maybe I give a shit.
  3. They have not won a conference title since 1984 and their best finish in the last 10 years was 3rd place in their division. Plus, you know, the litany of shitty seasons between then (1984) and now. The program sucks.
  4. Where's the risk? It's all over the place. -Not getting paid for 9 years -The likelihood that they continue to suck + no TV revenue during that span -Assuming the alumni will continue to fork over money after 4-5-6 years if they still suck -Assuming that being in the ACC makes SMU better on the field -Assuming the ACC doesn't implode much sooner than 2036 -Not putting your football team in a position to succeed. Remember - they suck. Forcing a below average program to play better competition isn't a recipe for success. Let's look at northwestern in the Big 10. They suck. The fact that they have 2x more TV revenue now than what they had 10 years ago, did not change their course. They continue to suck. How does that apply to SMU? SMU is going to suck, without the TV money.
  5. There is nothing bizarre about parents wanting to see their kids play. There is also nothing bizarre about a kid that decides to play locally/ regionally so that he can be near his family.
  6. That may be the case, but I think the fact that there are 20-21 NFL teams east of Missouri has a lot to do with that.
  7. Easily huh?
  8. I don't have ill-will towards SMU. I'm just being pragmatic here. -It is not like they were dominating the AAC. Even though the ACC may arguably be the shittiest 'power' conference, it's still a big step up. SMU isn't going to all of the sudden start out recruiting everyone in the state. Money may buy some guys but you still need a staff that is top notch and wants to actually stay there. -Why would TX kids want to go play on the east coast? Do you think their parents would be on board with missing half their games? -The fan support is meek at best. -Who is to say the ACC actually makes it to 2036? What if it implodes in 4-5 years, or in say, 2030 when the buyout isn't nearly what it is right now? Like I'm saying - it's a big risk without the high reward.
  9. You always get so snippy around this time of the month. Take some of this before you post again:
  10. That's right - playing against schools similar to SMU: crap on-the-field-play with no fans in the stands.
  11. SMU - no TV money for 9 years. They will get a few years of TV money before the ACC media deal expires and the ACC implodes. Seems like a high risk low reward gamble.
  12. Even though they are getting their asses handed to them, all it will take is one win vs a ranked sec foe and it's gonna be "Florida beat a ranked SEC team. They should be ranked!"
  13. Tech's website sucks. I guess that's what happens when you struggle to put three W's together
  14. You might be a football fan but you're not a fan of reading comprehension. I neither stated that no politicians were going to get involved, nor did I state that no one would try to block a move. I will put my post down below, again. The bill submitted was symbolic. Aka "for show". I did not get into the reasons for that, but now I will. The +30 government representatives that signed, did it for show. It had no chance of getting discussed, let alone passing. It was done for symbolism- to say they were unhappy with the conference move. The Bill was submitted after the Democrats quorum-busted and left for DC (To go block a GOP bill). The Bill was unrelated to anything on the special session agenda for Governor Abbott - meaning, that it was ineligible to be passed as law. Even if Abbott had added it to the special session, it would have been pointless because quorum was not met.
  15. Your reply is makes zero sense. No where in my post did I say politicians never get involved.
  16. Your energies are misdirected. I never said blue blood and the post you responded to was my opinion that all-time-win totals cannot be taken at face value. However, proceed if you must..
  17. Where did I make exclusions for said argument? Take your faux rage and shove it up your ass. My argument applies to any team that wants to tout their "all-time-wins".
  18. I agree with most of what you said. The end result for me (and I am sure for a lot of fans) is that we are now cut out of a lot of away games with this conference change. It's relatively easy to travel within Texas and see our team play road games vs B12 teams. That's not the case moving the to SEC. It has to suck even more for the fans of P12 teams that are moving to the B10 - the travel distances are not fan friendly.
  19. The "all time wins" argument is weak as shit (fuck ohio state). Let's run down some reasons why.. 1. The programs that started early (i.e. Ohio State in the 1890s) would have a better chance of being in the top ten vs 'newer' programs. (i.e. UCF started D1-A in 1996). 2. How many of those all-time wins were against FCS, D2 or G5 teams that were paid to come over and take an ass beating? 3. How many of those all-time wins were against teams with losing records the year they played? 4. How many of those wins came against teams that still exist? Ever heard of Otterbein, Wittenberg, Oberlin, Marietta, Ohio Medical, Muskingum and Kenyon? Those are the teams Ohio St played from the 1890s to late 1920s. I will wrap this up with fuck ohio state and I love big naturals.
  20. What surprises me is that you can't believe it. Politics is a big show. No politician was actually going to be able to block a conference move. Any attempt(s) to do so was purely for show.
  21. I would like to give a big THANK YOU to those Tech graduates out there. If it wasn't for you, I would have to pick up my pizza instead of getting it delivered.
  22. 2004, 2006... that's 17 and 19 years ago respectively, since Cal could compete with the best in the conference. It all centers around this: Cal won't be sniffing a P5 conference championship any time soon.
  23. Granted, 4-6:30pm is a shit time, but otherwise there isn't anything difficult about getting into austin
