It's been stated multiple times over but Aggie is paying above market price.

Right, I’m following that. My point is that you’d think going somewhere like Georgia or Bama and taking a little less money up front and winning + NIL would be worth more than the over market value aggy is allegedly paying.

  2. It’s honestly wild to me to see what they’ve been able to do. I get the paying players angle and all, but if you’re getting paid by Georgia, Alabama and whatever other winning program, why would you bother with aggy? At some point you’d have to think winning matters more than getting a little more money - especially in the NIL era.

    Petrinsky for Melendez.

And how the fuck was that outfield fly that Melendez hit and that guy dropped an out?

I wondered this, but the only rules I had to compare to were football catch possession rules. Those fucking suck too.

I mean, fair.  But Texas was -8 in that Fiesta Bowl, I think.

Texas was a 12.5 point dog in this one.  Against a team averaging 91 ppg and 99 ppg in the tournament.  And that 2008 Texas football team was pretty damn good;  this 2021 Texas WBB team is barely above average, at best.

Haven't seen the line for tomorrow's game yet.  Under underdog game, again.

Yeah I was splitting hairs with it being the 08 season. I watched the game and the team played great. Maryland looked lost in last ~2 min or so.

I watched that game last night, and the women put together a grittier, mentally tougher team performance than any Texas men's team in any sport since 2008.

Agreed - considering Texas just rolled over for OSU in the Fiesta Bowl in 2009......oh wait.

    And it already begins.

The new standard is that players get to choose. The fanbase needs to respect that. Maybe we will get 100% standing from the team or only 90%. We don't know yet. Either way it is not YOUR business whether or not those players choose to stand there so unless your goal is to be divisive and cause problems for the university, you should keep your thoughts to yourself about our student-athletes.

I fall somewhere on this spectrum. It’s encouraging that Texas now has a document that supports its claims that the song doesn’t have racist origins. The problem is the already established narrative and the reaction of people who don’t experience life the same way the football players do.

I don’t envy Sark for having to support his statement that everyone will be there for the song but the only way this works at all is for the entire team to stay - even if they don’t sing. Not everyone sang in the past anyway. Hopefully the team votes to look at it as an opportunity to appreciate fan support and has everyone agree to stay. If not, I think we’ll be having a conversation about getting rid of the song sooner rather than later. It just won’t be worth the continuous trouble.

I still see some issues though. The exhortation would be “give em hell boys and defeat the union so we can keep our slaves.”

We don’t know what Sinclair knew about Prather’s fondness for the phrase and the confederacy but it wouldn’t be a stretch for Sinclair to have heard some version of the Lee/Gregg story.

Precisely. We don’t know. Assuming in the absence of certainty is part of the problem and serves no purpose other than to twist the narrative.

The report simply acknowledges that racist tendencies existed back then (they do today, obviously), but that there’s no documented connection of the Eyes to anything explicitly racist. To say the song is racist is factually incorrect until proven otherwise.

$40M per year for a guy that would be the 3rd best QB on OU's roster right now.  Wouldn't have beaten out 2 of their last 3, either.

There a lot of fine takes in this thread - including several about whether or not it was stupid to pay Dak. This take is fucking stupid.

Jimmy Lake seems to be a mistake.

The remarks that PK "let" Petersen name Lake a Co-DC just to make Lake happy/stay at UW make more sense now that we've seen what's happened since.
