  1. Anyone bitching about ND beating “nobodies” is stupid as fuck. We’ve all seen how difficult it is to go undefeated with ANY schedule. Not to mention that the bottom third of this conference is dogshit and the “middling” teams should be shit on yearly by Texas. OU is the only fucking obstacle here and Texas with Kelly would do fine in that matchup more often than not.

I’m holding out hope for the grand conspiracy that we’re getting Urban Meyer, but if we aren’t - Kelly is probably the best of the rest.

Lol. Coming out of the gate strong this week, I see.

I think people know my thoughts on Urban possibly coming to UT Austin.

Sorry you are not having as good of a start to your week as some others are.

You’re a fucking assclown. Your bullshit of “Urban would never be hired at Texas” is demonstrably false. Texas tried and failed to hire Urban (at this point anyway). Stick to poring over a&m’s financial reports you fucking blowhard.

Or where Saban has publicly said that Texas offered him or was interested in him for a job?

the fact is that people get offered jobs everyday and never say anything about getting an offer or turning one down.

There’s a difference between an active coach at a place like Bama not commenting on a job that was never technically open while they were making their decision and a guy who isn’t currently coaching making a statement about not returning to coaching. Like Thujone said - these situations aren’t identical at all. The similarities begin and end with the hiring school being Texas. That and the fact that we still suck.

His name came across my mind, too. His contract runs through 2022 so his buyout would be more in the ~$20M range. Say we could offer him $8M/yr - over 4 years that would almost make up the difference between what we've offered Urban and what Harbaugh's buyout would be.

Harbaugh currently makes 9 million per year. I don't know that it'd be worth it to take the extra recruiting responsibilities AND less money to coach in college.

  5. There are a ton of stock bots that will notify you via Discord when stock drops. The best chance you'll get a new processors/GPUs is via the newegg mobile app and Apple Pay. Literally one click and two presses of the power button and Apple Pay fills out all of your information for you.

I'm building a new PC this weekend with some significant upgrades. Currently running a Ryzen 1600x and a 1080Ti. I have my Ryzen 5800x on the table behind me and I'm upgrading to a Gigabye Vision 3080 (https://www.gigabyte.com/Graphics-Card/GV-N3080VISION-OC-10GD#kf) since I'm going for an all white build.  Should pair really well with my Samsung Odyssey G9 monitor.

To get rid of Herman, TEXAS currently owes him a $15mill buyout (with offset).  He won't leave without some of that buyout money for sure.

So say Mensa settles for $10mill buyout with no offset.  Then agrees to a $4mill/yr contract at a school like South Carolina.  After 3yrs Turtle-Tom has $22mill total vs just $15mill.  (Btw, Liberty is reportedly paying Hugh Freeze over $3mill on his new contract.)

    Source on TEXAS buyout info:

The word: To fire Tom Herman this season, the Longhorns' deep-pocketed boosters would need to shell out $15.4 million dollars if removed prior to Dec. 1 in addition coaching staff holds.

I thought we’d already said this wasn’t the case. His contract is a prorate - the closer we get to Dec 1, the cheaper the buyout is. The Dec 1 amount that’s quoted in all these articles is just what the prorate is on that day.

Its a combination of many factors.  Here is a partial listing.

    1. Arrogance, but lots of programs are arrogant.
    2. Fractured mega-booster base (Houston vs Dallas for example)
    3. Serious academic institution that has real standards to uphold (not a bad thing but part of it)
    4. Huge mid-level booster base capable of serious interference
    5. Lack of cohesion between AD and booster base at any level
    6. 5 leads to poorly run searches for major mens coaches because there is no comprehensively orchestrated and executed strategy
    7. In general, a badly run (especially historically) athletic department as it relates to major mens sports (contributes to 5)
    8. Country club atmosphere
    9. Only a few brief periods of success interrupted by LONG periods of mediocrity gets ingrained at some point
    10. Texas believes that everyone wants to coach at Texas.  Some coaches dont give a fuck about Texas.
    11. Texas believes that Texas should be elite just because its Texas, there is no thought of excruciating level of effort required to achieve maintained success at the highest levels
    12. 11 means that fans believe you hire a good coach, you recruit the same 4-5* like always, put them in the country club, and success naturally follows.  It doesnt.

    1. If everyone’s arrogant, then what the fuck is the point of this?

    2. Mostly 9.95er bullshit - you don’t know shit about this one way or the other.
    3. Plenty of good schools succeed at football - including Texas for long stretches of time. Fuck off.
    4. ?????

    5. Right - the lack of cohesion explains the amount of money raised by the AD to complete numerous projects. Sorry, I can’t be bothered to look this up - the gigantic fucking Longhorn in the South end zone is taking up too much of my screen.
    6. With Mike Perrin at the helm? Sure that was probably true. See well, every single hire CDC has done up to this point.
    7. Ah yes, the money printing machine that is the Texas AD - so perpetually poorly run that it gives back tens of millions of dollars a year to The University.
    8. See previous post, see response 2 on this list, etc. Fuck off.
    9. Other than Ohio State, which football program hasn’t gone through periods of mediocrity?
    10. Some coaches don’t give a fuck about Bama, Clemson, or OSU. What’s your point?

    11. SOME Texas fans may believe this. Where’s the evidence to support that the Texas players, admin, or coaches believe this? Maybe the coaches Texas has hired since Mack have just sucked ass? More bullshit projection from your interpretation of 9.95er bullshit.
    12. Has the entire fan base been behind either of the last two head football coach hires? The answer is unequivocally no. I won’t get into the weird relationship that recruiting services have with fans and how that translates to success on the field, but a combination of bad coaching hires and poor evaluations can explain every bit of this list.

You are correct I believe UT suffers from a singularly unique pathology. Maybe that would explain things. Have you thought about that?

Or maybe - stay with me here - the players are the same fucking 4 and 5 star players that MANY other great football schools wanted. Maybe they bust their asses at practice, just like anyone who wants to get to the NFL would. Maybe the coaches just fucking suck and need to be canned. Weird concept I know. Your comments about “country club atmosphere” sound exactly like the oft repeated shit from 9.95ers trying to dress up the shit sandwich that was Texas’ previous two coaching staff hires.

No explanation for talented players that everyone else wanted sucking? Call them lazy! Blame the “atmosphere” because there CLEARLY wasn’t any signs of Strong or Herman sucking before they signed to coach at Texas.

With the right coach, this team and its players perform just fine. Saying anything else is fucking stupid.

It's not my war. I honestly couldn't care less one way or the other.

I just think it will end in a way you won't like.

I don't care if I'm right or wrong.

You know, you’ve said this repeatedly. “I don’t care what happens” blah blah. It sure the fuck seems like you care. Cut the bullshit - this shit is like a never ending edging exercise that ends in some weird tantric prolonged orgasm for you. In your mind it does anyway.

The compromise was agreeing to the other 95% of things brought up during the committee meeting.

I'm following you. I'm also under the impression that everything else on the list besides the song was really just filler - the issue seems to be the song and the song only. The group of athletes/students that put the requested changes together initially knew that no sane person/organization would deny anything else on the list.

It's OK, man. It gets better.

I won't speak to how DD gets his rocks off, but to just assume this ends the issue forever is... optimistic.

My HOPE is that our administration has been acting the 180 degree opposite of our howling moron fanbase and has been building bridges to the students with concerns and has, through mature leadership, created an environment of unity. By creating that environment FIRST, then the administration can say "The Eyes is staying" knowing that the players are already bought in and we all move forward confident that the unity is real and not just something that came from on high.

What actually happens remains to be seen.

    - Will Herman make all the players stand if this unity is actually just top-down command?
    - Will they do it even if he tells them they have to?
    - Will they kneel or otherwise signal objection?
    - Will future Longhorns see this differently and behave differently?
    - Will the more snowflake alumni among us be happy with the athletes' presence or will they start demanding more eager and open participation?

Maybe it's just over now. I have my doubts.

I won't disagree. This doesn't end it - if for no other reason than the fact that there's not even an illusion of compromise, just an ultimatum. I was just pointing out the obvious (to me) glee that DD posts with anytime he talks about doing away with it altogether. It brings nothing to the discussion.

Because this issue isn't going to go away.

DD says as he furiously masturbates to every news article that’s posted on Twitter about The Eyes.

I think bad teammate has some decent enough points regarding the issue, but you’re bringing absolutely NOTHING to the conversation by posting dumbass shit like this.

One thing you can count on is Dallas games being close. Doesn't matter if they are playing the Chiefs or the local middle school team. They will find a way for it to come down to the last possession.

After the opposing team blows a double digit lead, only for Dallas to get the ball with under 3 minutes left with a chance to win and have the most Dallas Cowboys sequence of events happen. Run/pass/pass/pass ball game.

For those curious about James Franklins current contract/buyout situation - Franklin just signed a contract extension (in Feb) with Penn State through 2025 that will pay him a little over 7 million a season.  He has a 5 million dollar buyout if he leaves before the 2021.

To get Franklin to make the move to Texas I assume the contract would have to start at 8 million a year.  That 8 million, plus the buyout (5 million)plus new assistants added to Tom's buyout and his assistants would probably cost Texas nearly 40 million dollars.

The obvious financial benefit to hiring Meyer is no buyout at a current school. That would probably free up the ability for Texas to pay assistant buyouts - which we'll definitely need to do with a new coach either way.

The notion that the university that currently employs Casey Horny, who was tits deep in one of the worst sports scandals in modern history, would be selling its soul when hiring Urban Meyer is fucking laughable.

Not to mention the fucking Grand Canyon-sized chasm between Art Briles and Urban Meyer when it comes to the “issues” they had with personnel.

Meyer recruited bad dudes that played football and behaved like bad dudes. Briles recruited bad dudes that played football, then spent over half a decade enabling them and actively conspiring with his bosses, the leaders of the school, the local police and others to cover up those players’ behavior and allow them to continue playing.

Briles entire staff was filled with rape enabling fuckheads. Urban Meyer kept the grandson of an OSU legend and his personal mentor on his staff when he shouldn’t have.

I don’t know that I’m entirely sold on The University hiring Meyer, but I know I’m tired of fucking losing and I know that the school could hire worse.

  16. It’s okay to acknowledge Sam’s limitations as a player while at the same time understanding that his coaches are shit and don’t put this team in a position to succeed. Unfortunately it appears we won’t know if Sam would do better with someone else as HC.
