Based on y'alls intimate knowledge into how this played out, I'm sure. I'm not saying it's a great hire, its average, but y'alls expectations for this particular hire in this particular year are skewed.

I haven’t said anywhere that it had to be an “elite” coach - eg the dude from tOSU. A plus recruiter that also wasn’t fired from Sumlin’s staff and didn’t spend the last few years in the dredges of the Big10 isn’t too much to ask here.

Since when do Sumlins hiring/firing practices mean shit? (Yes this is an underwhelming hire, but meh)

I mean I understand why this is the sentiment, but in the context of Herman’s shitty hires, shitty staff management, stubbornness to make changes and the fact that he’s very much on the hot seat - it matters. This is a fucking ridiculous hire and there were plenty of options.

  3. Well that’s underwhelming but not unexpected. This process has been interesting - some hires look fine, others are head scratchers. Recruiting is probably one area where I’m least worried, but I would have expected a better recruiter for this last spot.

the great thing about the season we had is that our back ups got a shit ton of playing time, and many of those were started multiple games through the season.  our DL is fucking stacked...3 starters return plus a shit ton of great back ups.  our LB corp took a hit but we'll have 2 starters back in our new scheme, and our DBs return 3 starters plus some damn good ones with experience.  we'll have Chase and Marshall at receiver, RB will be by committee with TDP, Curry and Emery finally up to speed after having his eye surgery...he was literally legally blind in his right eye last season...and 3 return on the OL.

Brennan won't be Burrow, but no one in the nation will be Burrow given his record setting season.  Brennan is damn good though, and i'm perfectly comfortable with him.

we could drop some 25% production and STILL be one of the top 3 teams in the land.  we've got a system in place, and we're sticking to it....and confidence in what we do.  what we did last year was paradigm shifting in terms of how offense is played at this level and if you don't believe me i'll let Aranda explain what it was like to experience it first hand and just how different it is to everything else out there...start at the 13:00 min. mark.

    https://podcasts.google.com/?feed=aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5zaW1wbGVjYXN0LmNvbS83OVUzUnZDag&episode=MmIyZWRlYzEtYWQ2ZS00OTQ5LThkZWEtNzVhNmQyNzY3Mjg1&hl=en&ved=2ahUKEwin0tLqgrjnAhVIeawKHSz4CWcQieUEegQIBRAE&ep=6

and until you prove you can do it, after your recent history, i'll remain sceptical of any claim of future success against LSU.

Honestly, who fucking cares? You’re a fucking blowhard. The architect and the QB from that “paradigm shifting” offense are gone to the NFL. Will LSU be fine? Maybe. There’s plenty of talent there. Will you lose to Texas at home? Maybe, there’s enough returning talent on Texas’ end to do so. I get that your team just won the title and it’s fun to be a prick, but acting like that season is going to be replicated is moronic and you know it.

My my my. I step away for a few hours and come back to this shit show of pure unmitigated arrogance and pathetic bullshit. Do I give a flying fuck about the responses on this site. Not a whit. Like I closed my original post:
"I'm sure this will get all kinds of 'feedback' from the mob that inhabits this forum. Fine, just take it down the hall to somebody who gives a shit."

BTW, for a sense of your football prowess:

In this last lost decade, Texas finished the regular season 3 times with a losing record.

A&M is the only school in the state of Texas that did not have a single regular season losing record over that time.

Cumulative Aggie football regular season record for the decade was 78-42. For Texas it was 66-55.  Yeah, we did much better.

As if we didn’t know already, this post solidifies it. You’re a dipshit.

Damn. He earned it I guess - even if his success can be attributed to hiring good coordinators. If he can do something similar with his new hires, then he’s definitely worth the money to LSU. If not, well, it’s not like roads need repairing there anyway.

The price?  You and your prices.  I guess the price is how you score all that pussy you bragged about not needing but liking.

My son is friends with him.  I haven’t asked my son why he didn’t go. Does it really matter?  I mean I am sure he’s worried that he might have alienated himself from CTJ since you are the all fucking knowing.  🙄. Why don’t you ask him via twitter since you are so worried about his social media presence?  That’s your chance to make your mark and call him out for his “Prices”.

You’re just not very cultured are you Harvdog?

Wrong nomenclature. I started a surly account because IT posters and moderators kept bringing up how big of a bitch closetojumping was so I had to see it for myself. I haven''t been disappointed.

Lol I don’t know Nahlin’s history or know him personally but this tweet is perhaps the most bitchmade thing I’ve ever seen on the Internet. What a thin-skinned pussy.

  9. Giles hasn’t recruited in his career either. He could teach Buckner the Pluckers secret menu and how to win the wing eating contest though.

In all seriousness, I know nothing about Buckner. His lack of recruiting chops seems less than ideal, considering the rest of the defensive staff’s makeup. I will say that the administrative side of recruiting (Officials, recruiting events) has been one of this staff’s strengths, so finding and identifying talent shouldn’t be a problem. As long as he isn’t Herman’s personality twin it should be a boost. NFL experience would come in handy in the trail.

Man, the Atlantic article about that kid knocked me off kilter for a solid week. Still gives me the wiggins worse than any horror movie I've watched. Beautifully written, which made a horrible experience feel too real.

Thanks for sharing man. I hadn’t read this - it’s so vivid and terrifying.

Why do people say this as if it is a bad thing? I'd rather our coach make good coordinator hires so that he can focus on being HC, especially if he's more comfortable doing that.

In this context, it’s further evidence that Herman continues to believe certain tasks that may be required of a head coach at a major program are beneath him. I don’t give a shit if he calls plays or not, but he hasn’t shown an ability to hire good coordinators at this point - Yurcich is still unproven at Texas.

Those two things have literally nothing to do with each other.

Or not giving enough of a shit to be bothered calling plays (until forced to make a choice of fire a coach mid season or call plays) and giving enough of a shit to be involved in hiring position coaches (outcome TBD) are similar behaviors of not giving a shit and easily compared, but I understand your position.

Ash was his college position coach at Wisco and boss at Rutgers this is extremely an Ash decision.

The question is whether Herman is ok with that.

Or maybe Herman’s aloof ass can’t be fucking bothered to worry about position coach hires. At this point it wouldn’t surprise me if this is the case, considering his obvious hatred for calling plays as a head coach.

What’s the fucking point here? That everyone opposed to Herman continuing the trend of dumbassery (coincidently - or not depending on whether or not you’re a dumbass - the same people who were opposed to the Strong dumbassery) prefers that Texas fucking sucks and revel in it? I don’t see your fucking point in any post so I’m gonna assume you’re a dumbass.

Pretty hilarious that the same people that hate Herman and want him fired get so pissed at his “shitty” hires that, if proven to be so, will help expedite his firing after this next year.  Must be weird to live in that world.

Some people hate Herman, some people look at Herman and 3 years of doing dumb ass shit and understand the most likely outcome. Then there’s the assholes that ride the wave from one coach to the next, ignoring the signs along the way that the ship is fucking sinking and jump to the front of the line to blow the newest hire.

What the fuck is so hard to understand about trends that people ignore them to their detriment? Saying that it’s more likely that Herman fucks it up than Texas wins the conference is not an endorsement of firing everyone and starting over. It’s an acknowledgment that he’s proven he can’t fill out an entire staff with competent coaches and he makes poor decisions that cost this team games. Hiring a CB coach with around one (1) calendar year on an actual coaching staff doesn’t exactly scream “I’m using my resources to make a great hire!” or more importantly “This will help Texas win games!”

But you are making judgments based on little factual information just to be contrarian. It's fucking boorish. No one really knows what kind of coach he'll be. I'm guessing you'd shit yourself with excitement if Samples was named the WR coach.

If I’m on record saying that Samples is a home run, by all means find it and shit on me appropriately. It’s not unreasonable to have an expectation that Texas hire a competent set of coaches to run the football program. Having an opinion on the pattern of behavior with regard to Herman’s hiring process is FAR from unreasonable. There’s plenty of fucking data to suggest that he’s going to fuck it up. Fuck this weak ass proxy defending the corches bullshit that’s emanating from your posts. If this guy is in fact hired and announced, it’s more likely that he fucking sucks than him being any good.

Because it's not worth getting upset about. If it's a bad hire then next year you will get what you really want anyway.

I think you’re misinterpreting the point of the post. I want Texas to fucking WIN. Nothing more, nothing less. Anything that doesn’t further that goal is bad.

This take is so fucking hilarious. Why do you you fucking care? Herman was never getting fired after 2019, so if you really want him gone, then why do you give any fucking shits at all who he's hiring. I would think you would welcome this hire with open arms, because to you it means he's likely gone after the 2020 season.

You remind me of the same people complaining Trump took out Soleimani.

Considering we’re all here because we’re fans of The University, any scenario where the football team has to spend more time than necessary in the cellar is a less than desirable outcome. Fuck anyone who prefers allowing or accepting Texas to be less than it should be and embracing mediocrity.

This point has been argued plenty on both sides throughout this thread, but I’m having a hard time understanding why everyone isn’t upset about hiring fucking dipshits to run the football program of the school I care about.
