  1. For some reason I watched the first few episodes of NYPD Blue last night. Not sure I am going to rewatch the full series but forgot how good it was and what a ground breaking show for network TV. I still can't believe they got away with some of the stuff they showed back then.

    indeed:

"What separated Jordan from all of us was he was the first one to three-peat. But he didn't three-peat against Magic, Larry and Dr. J."

Crazy that MJ ended the reign of Detroit, prevented the Celtics and the Lakers from winning again, denied Utah, Suns and Portland from getting rings, and stopped Ewing, Barkley, Malone and other hall of famers from ever getting a ring.  And yet, Isiah doles out this nugget of garbage. Thomas and the Pistons got retired by the Bulls.

He's a bitter little bitch that has changed his story a million times and contradicts himself over and over again. Anything that comes out of his mouth should just be ignored.

Anyone who doubts Larry’s greatness doesn’t know basketball. They should watch the videos of him breaking Kevin McHale’s team scoring record. McHale had score like 51 or 52 points and begged out towards the end of the 4th quarter because it was a blowout. Larry told him he should have stayed in and scored more because he was going to break that record. Within the next week, they were plying the Hawks in New Orleans and Larry went off. He broke the record and at one point had the Hawks bench cheering him on as he hit one crazy shot after another. There’s video of it. It’s pretty damn funny.

Another time, the Celtics were in a west coast swing and playing against Portland. I guess he was a little bored so he told his teammates he was only going to shoot left handed this game. He scored 20 something points all left handed in the win. Reporters asked him about it after the game and he said he was saving his right hand for the Lakers.

Bird was slow as shit, tough as nails and a guy that legit could hit shots from anywhere in the arena. The current young NBA fans have no clue how fucking good he was. As pure a shooter as the NBA has ever seen. The fact that he was an unathletic white guy make him an easy target for those that never saw him play. He looked like he was doing everything in slow motion but it didn't matter who was on him he was going to get his.

Zero, Zero, Zero is awesome start to end.  I could not recommend it more if you are like me and are hungering for more "Narcos".  Like "Narcos" much of the dialogue is in the native language in two of the three simultaneous stories.  I prefer it this way bc it feels more authentic as it gives the more real feeling the you are dropped into the scene as an observer.   The American brother/sister "The Brokers" is the weakest link, but is still intense much of the time.  You will have to get used to the flashback convention that is used to tie each story that rotates between the 3 simultaneous stories of "The Buyers" (Italian Mob), "The Sellers" Mexican Cartel), and "The Brokers" (New orleans shipping family) that continually rotate.

Thanks and I couldn't agree more. If anybody loved Narcos this is really well done. I am only 3 episodes in but has been great so far.

I haven't seen anyone mention this but I'm interested to see how many of your wives leave the water running the entire freaking time they are brushing their teeth.  Drives me fucking crazy

If that is one of your main annoyances with the wife congrats, you've won the lottery.

Opening a vet clinic is a weird idea. The vet tech (Ronnies GF) would basically be the owner and the vet docs would work for her? Nothing illegal about that, just strange.

It is a little odd and I don't know the set up but one of my clients who lives in Texas owns vet clinics in several different states. Obviously not the same since the "owner" will be working there too.

I always wonder if the producers tip off contestants as to where the idol is. They always seem to find it, and this time Tony finds one at night on some huge island? Hokay

No they don't. But I have no doubt that producers push new angles of game play or potential targets while doing their one on one interviews with the players. Not directly but indirectly via leading questions, etc.

I really can't stand Tony.  I think he's sunk now though.  2 straight immunity wins and that move tonight have raised his threat level too early.

Agreed. He's a good player I just don't like the way he plays. He's a bully like Rob but Rob does it in such a different way it doesn't come off as being and overconfident asshole.

Tony's goose is cooked as Jeremy mentioned he made a move way too early and is going to create a massive target on his back. Sure he has an idol but he will need to win out if he has a chance to getting to the end as the first time he is exposed whoever is left would be morons to not get rid of him.

Will be interesting to see how the fire tokens work as we get a little closer to the end of the game.

  8. My parents live about 20 minutes from us-

    The female mind-

Pre COVID- We see your parents ALL THE TIME can't we just have some family time ourselves?

During COVID- We never see your parents anymore, I am surprised they haven't asked to come over (yes, don't even mentioned the obvious reason why they haven't)

    And coming soon-

Post COVID- We see your parents ALL THE TIME can't we just have some family time ourselves?

Did I miss an annoucement? Is Ronnie retiring?

Yeah they have talked about it and Ronnie seems to be more serious about it recently. Howard of course is giving him shit and that he will be bored with nothing to do. I can't tell if it's just Howard ripping on him for show content, that he is pissed he won't be around anymore or a little of both.

really sad next season is the last.  I love the show, and feel like it is a pretty solid adaptation of the books.  I wish they would have spaced it out just a bit more as they have generally combined 2 or more books into a 10 episode season.  It's a top 5 show for me.

Agreed. One of my favorites as well. Great characters, actors and story lines. I will be sad when it's gone.

I would guess that focus groups tell them that seeing the players' survival (or lack of) skills isn't a fun watch.  The drama of blindsides or come-from-behind competition wins most likely scores high with audiences.

That or them realizing that there is only so many ways for someone to complain about not being hungry, the rice almost being gone, etc. That is the same every season and would just get repetitive over and over again. Comps and new twists allow them to sell a different show each season.

I put this show in the same category with Billions.  If you can suspend disbelief about some ridiculous shit and overlook the fact that the writers phone it in at certain points, you can watch some truly remarkable actors.  Bateman, Linney, Garner, and Janet McTeer (Helen) are all outstanding.

And lol at people bitching that it's not Breaking Bad.  That's like bitching at every other novelist for not being Tolstoy.

    100%.

too many idols and advantages. I'm ok with a hidden immunity idol or two but not much else. I also think there should be a cost to using a hidden immunity idol. You lose your vote the following week.

I assume there are many idols and advantages because there were episodes that it was fairly straight forward who was going home, even if the edit tried to add some drama.

At this point kind of like the whispering at tribal they can't put the toothpaste back in the tube.

I watched a couple of episodes from the first few seasons last year and was amazed at how different it was than what I remembered. Way more "surviving without food" and camp life then I ever remembered, just a lot of laying around chatting about stupid stuff they would never show in current seasons.

Now it's comp, search for idol, immunity challenge, a little game talk, tribal.
