Yeah, it's already here. I couldn't believe it the first time I saw a 3 on 2 fast break and one of the guys on the wing fanned out to the three point line. I'm sure there's some analytics guy out there saying it is the right play to make, but it goes against all of my sensibilities.

My other favorite knock is how everyone is so much better at shooting 3's now and back in the 90's the reason why nobody shot them is none of the players had the range.

    3Pt %

    2020- 35.7%

    1998- 34.6%

    1992- 33.6%

Yeah it seems like podcasting is going the way of video streaming platforms - you’ll have to subscribe to five or six different platforms to have access to everything you like.

I have never listened to Joe Rogan and have no plans to but I listen to multiple different podcasts from multiple publishers all the time. I like being able to access them all on one app.

Not looking forward to having to have eight different podcast apps.

Sadly it's the cutting the cord of the "radio/podcast world"

Netflix, Prime, Hulu, Apple +, Disney +, Youtube TV, etc.

I also thing most will start doing videos of their shows as well some already have.

Other than Houston bastardizing the analytical approach, what teams are doing that? There's more movement and passing in the NBA then there's ever been. There's just as many points in the paint.

I agree, the league has gone a little too 3-crazy, but only at the expense of the mid-range shot, not motion or passing. Do you really miss the baseline 18-footer that much?

A little 3 crazy? in a few years half the shots taken are going to be 3's at this rate. Hell if you take out transition layups/dunks I bet it's already close to 50%.

Do I miss the 18ft baseline jumper? Not particularity but I do think the 3 has taken away the flow of the NBA.

2020-  3's attempts per game- 34, FG attempts per game- 89, 38% of shots were 3's.

1998- 3's attempts per game- 12.7, FG attempts per game- 80, 15% of shots were 3's

1993- 3's attempts per game- 9, FG attempts per game- 86, 10.5% of shots were 3's

Not that unusual, but I find pretty much all podcasts to be boring as fuck. Why would I listen to a couple people drone on for hours about anything.

Rogan gets the best guests in the world. And metric fucktons of people listen.

I will never understand the "it's too long" view of podcasts.

    1. There are a shit ton of podcasts that are 15-30 minutes (or less) and plenty longer for those who like a guest or topic

    2. Most podcasts have guides of when guests are on or they are talking about a topic that might interest you. So you know you don't have to "listen to a couple of people drone on for hours"

    3. There is like a million different podcast so you can really find any topic you could possibly ever want to listen to

    4. Like it or not it's not going anywhere and is only going to become more popular

  5. Daily "you need to get your hearing checked", "you aren't listening to me", etc.

Maybe just maybe you wait until I am not in the shower, the garage, downstairs, in another room, etc. before you ask me a question.....................

Holy shit. Just looked it up. $250 million. And one of the most amazing things, to me, about the Rogan deal is that Rogan retains all rights to his intellectual property. Prob same with Simmons too. It's like the opposite of the music industry where the record company owns rights to recordings (and with more zeros).

Correct. I think it really is just a bigger play for Spotify to beat the shit out of Apple and become the Netflix of the podcast world. They want to create their own content instead of just being a vessel where people can find shows they like.

It will be interesting to see if those exclusive deals move the needle and get people to stop using Apple because their favorite show isn't on it anymore.

Agreed. I do think the 1998 bulls in current form could beat the 2020 warriors in current form.

The 96 Bulls team was better than the 98 team. You could make an argument that the 92 team was better as well.

Nope, hated that they fucked up a beautiful sport with those kinds of tactics.

Yes because watching 4 guys stand around while their teammate jacks up another 3 is so much more entertaining.

I wonder if this means that he will let spotify have influence on show guests and content.  Is that what they just bought?

I think it's similar to Howard Stern going to Sirius. They won't change anything (yes debate away on Howard) they just want the exclusive rights. He had over 190 million downloads in April, in the podcast world he is the king.

It's about branding and for Spotify trying to get Rogan's fans to switch from Apple (where most people listen) to Spotify.

They bought a talent that they hope bring more people to their service. They also bought the Ringer (Bill Simmons company) which has podcasts, video, blogs, etc.

It's where new media is going.

I bust out laughing when Bird and the Pacers thought they were going to beat Jordan and the Bulls in game 7, and Bird came over after the game to give MJ props. They both were laughing and Jordan says "You bitch, fuck you," and they start laughing. The greats were all good friends away from the game, but wanted to destroy each other on the court. That's what is missing from todays game.

Probably my favorite part of the Doc.

I lived in the Midwest during the 90's so I pretty much knew and followed everything about MJ and that team when I was in HS/college. But those behind the scene glimpses that this gives us is really what made it so great and obviously very few people had any knowledge of.

The reason why I love it is that is how team sports work talking shit and showing respect. Not to play the people don't understand card again but that is exactly how you would talk with your friends. The whole Michael was a tyrant asshole, and a horrible example of how to treat other people takes annoy the shit out of me.

He was respected by his teammates and the best players in the league. If the general public and Nancy's of the world can't handle it then tough shit.

As for it missing in today's game, I think that it is there- It's just a different time so it's not exactly the same.

  10. A guy I knew in HS became a D-1 male cheerleader. Said for all the shit he took for being a male cheerleader it was worth it because of the road games.

The home team cheerleaders would take the opposing teams cheerleaders out the night before the game. He said in most cases it was 3-4 male cheerleaders to about 15-20 female cheerleaders/dance team members from the home team. And there were always multiple options at the end of the night on every road game.

-strategizing at tribal needs to GTFO...especially asking people who they voted for prior to playing an idol wtf. That probably helped with winning Tony the game cause he didn't play his idol then if i remember correctly

-tap the fucking breaks...not the best season of Survivor ever

    - Agreed (although I would have had less a problem with it this season then when Chris won)

    - Agree

They tried it in NYC early on (remember the attorney that was the super spreader).  I've seen it with some nursing home stuff.

CDC put out a small study on a super spreader at the choir in Washington State, although it's more about how easily it spreads, but they were contact tracing and tracking down family/friends/etc. of those at the choir practice(s).

    https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6919e6.htm?s_cid=mm6919e6_w&fbclid=IwAR1QI5yQLgUl7O0YVCRUgkjPWSNZTjyG0kjyV_TTBkYg1BuVJZ4KAd-kNKE#contribAff

I don't think they did anything on the scale you are talking about though.

A smallish nursing home is probably the best test case for this. Obviously on a very small scale.

My MIL is in one. They went full lock down at least a week or two before everyone else was mandated to do so. They had one employee who tested posted- she was sent home and quarantined for two weeks. That was almost a month ago and they have had only one resident and one other employee test positive with no new positives in the last 2 weeks. They moved every resident that was in contact with that employee into a separate wing of the facility and that seems to have worked.

Scary shit but so far so good at her nursing home.

Zach was ok in WOW2. But in WOW1, he threw another tantrum at Jenna when she questioned him about being on Bumble. That was last year.

Yep, that's his MO, turn everything he does around and make it her fault.

  14. 47 minutes ago, Go Pokes said:

This is disappointing.  If you're a Zach hater, you may not have noticed it or refused to acknowledge it, but he's really grown up the past 2-3 years.  He still brought out his old immature Zach when he would deal with Ninja (a little understandable) or Amanda ( totally understandable since she's in the top 3 worst human beings ever on this show), but he has matured and was starting to become a CT Jr.   He had a ways to go to reach the Zen of CT, but he was slowly getting there.  CT didn't grow up overnight either.  And then this season happened.  I've been in his corner but he's making it tough with this crybaby shit he's pulling this season.

100% agree. He was great comedy relief and seemed way more laid back on the last challenge. I still think he isn't nearly as good of a competitor as he should be based on his physical tools. He just seems a little too soft and doesn't have that killer in him that CT does.

If you’re looking for another train wreck, search youtube for Jeremy Dewitte. He’s basically Florida’s funeral procession king.  He dresses like a cop and presumably acts like one.  But he’s not.  He talks a big game until the real police show up. Spoiler alert: one of the videos has a cop state that dewitte is a sex offender and he’s up on impersonation charges now.

Thanks I went down a youtube rabbit hole of his videos. What a fucking idiot.

I really wish the time he got arrested in Chicago the cops on the scene would have realized he wasn't a cop. Those guys would have given him so much more shit.

Also watching those videos gave me a greater appreciation for police officers, the amount of MORONS they have to deal with on a daily basis has to be mind blowing I wouldn't have the patience for it.

After seeing Tori smash Jenny last year in the hall brawl shit, I considered her the best female competitor. So anytime she loses an elimination for anything other than a puzzle, I probably would’ve been surprised

100%. Tori fucked herself from the very beginning when she was trying to fit pieces through the grate instead of smashing them. She also would have won if she would have only filled up half the wheel barrel like Jenna did. They put there second to last loads in at the same time and Tori had a full wheel barrel at the end and Jenna had about half.

Great comp and hats off to Jenna. Still think Tori is one of the best female competitors and she isn't afraid to compete like 95% of the rest of the house.

Jeezus. A whole episode with just drama and no challenge...well done MTV.

Gah damn Tori. I still luff u. I know Jordan is yelling over board, but if you had listened to him about standing up in the beginning...then you likely would have won. And he would have piped down sooner.

Still a Jordan fan here. He may talk shit but he is straight up and isnt a snake/hypocrite like most the other vet dudes.

Fuck Zac. Holy shit he has always been a dick to her.

    Shut up Nelson and Nany.

I still see weak players skating by...

    Agree with all of this-

    1. Jordan is an over confident dick but I think he is probably a super nice guy in real life, he just turns it up on the challenge to play that part of his personality

    2. Zach on the other hand is a fucking little bitch. He is one of those guys who treats his GF's like shit and then when he does something wrong turns it around on them to make it there fault. I fucking hate people like Zach. I wish Jenna would tell him to fuck off

    3. Not that all of the people on the show have issues but holy hell Nany is right up there with Cara Marie in no self worth issues. koo koo

    4. As discussed before the Producers tried to force people to compete but they are still skating by. I do think there are going to be people that don't run the final because they were too chicken shit to compete.

One addition- Dee is the most annoying worthless girl on the show. She acts like she is some amazing player when she cried all last season and made it to the end because everyone thought she would be easy to beat in the finale. I can't stand her.

Interesting point I heard on a podcast.  Probably the biggest of the many mistakes Lacina made near the end was getting rid of Ben.  I don't think that would have earned her many brownie points with the jury anyway.  If she votes out Michelle, that leaves Nat, Tony, her, and Ben in the final 4.  Unless Tony wins the final immunity challenge,  she could let Ben take out Tony in fire making and hope she can present a better argument (by taking credit for all of Tony's work) than Nat.  Huge mistakes by Nat and Lacina last night pretty much guaranteed Tony the W.

100% they both had a shot to take out the clear favorite to win and they both screwed up.
