Good for him - can't be too many finance interns at Dallas Kimball, whatever the form it takes

Surprised Figurelli hasn’t reached out to share his wisdom on a finance internship in the big corporate world.

From the linked article, for those having trouble believing the debt numbers I have been posting for years. Yes, Texas A&M has had the highest debt service of any college athletics program in the nation due to all the debt they took on for their Kyle Field project. aggy athletics debt is of 200% of gross revenue. UT Austin total debt is less than 100% of gross revenue.

The aggy debt numbers do not include the repayment of the debt they owe the academic side, etc. Notice UT Austin doesn't even make the top 15. Also, the SEZ project was funded with contributions, not debt, so while there is some change in these numbers (refinancings, repayments, etc) they haven't changed much in the few months since these numbers were reported. Revenue and expense numbers are for the FY ending Aug 31, 2019 and can be found here: https://ope.ed.gov/athletics/#/

RD, what’s the latest on cash reserves for both aggy & UT?

    fuck that guy.

I’m all for this talk and I hope it continues to be the narrative. I hope it just keeps escalating.

Riley hasn’t coached a single QB in his career, as OC or HC, that he developed from recruit to starter.

Rattler struggled turning the ball over in practice against the shitastic OU DBs. It’s not a new problem for him.

Rattler threw 33 INTs in 42 high school games. Sam threw 9 in 26, Baker threw 8 in 29, Kyler threw 16 in 32, and Hurts threw 7 in 16.

Rattler is going to put up some stats but anyone expecting him to be a step up for OU in QB play is making some huge assumptions.

FWIW — OU played in 6 one score games last season and Hurts never threw more than 1 INT in any game.

Riley is Spurrier 2.0, of his QB sucks it sure isn’t about the tutorage.

That's essentially how any interaction in society works.  Those with power dictate terms.  Your employer tells you how to act.  Whether they have enough power to make their demands is the deciding factor if something happens.  Since the players bring in a lot of revenue, I'm going to guess that almost all the demands will be met.  Also who is the "them" they telling how to act?  I doubt CDC or Hartzell give a shit about keeping anything the same.

We are going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

They're not telling anyone how to act or think. They're saying "if you want to continue to make hundreds of millions of dollars off of our athletic achievement then do these things or we won't play". Try paying attention next time.

Am I not paying attention?   That seems like telling someone how to act.

I don't know why anyone would think the lyrics to The Eyes are about slavery because they're obviously about pedophilia.

The Eyes of Texas are upon you,
    All the livelong day.

This obviously refers to all the pedophiles in Texas staring at your kids.

The Eyes of Texas are upon you,
    You cannot get away.

No matter where your kids go the pedophiles will follow them around watching them

Do not think you can escape them
At night or early in the morn -

The morning and at night is the best time to watch them because they will be getting dressed and undressed

The Eyes of Texas are upon you
    Til Gabriel blows his horn.

This is obviously just a euphemism for what the pedophile is doing while he's watching your kids

I am watching LHN right now and they’re showing our 2004 game against aggy. Watching it has made me long for what has been missing from UT football. Of course, number 1 is having a kick ass team with VY leading us to glory. However, it is more than that. Seeing the replay of this game brought back a bunch of good memories going to Austin or College Station on T+1. Nothing better than chanting “Poor Aggies” at Kyle after beating them and gloating afterwards at some bar in Nothgate. When I was growing up we played 3 rivalry games a year. We only have 1 now. We used to play in the best conference in the country. Remember the excitement of having a top 10 Nebraska team coming to Austin and us beating them.

The point of all this is reminiscing is to say is it still fucking worth it with all that’s going on. Getting rid of the Eyes is going to do more damage to our fan base than anyone can imagine. I know the Cabal is ready and willing to get rid of the Eyes and are proud of these players blah blah blah. I am not. They have driven wedge between our alumni, school and football team. Now Overshown is threatening to not participate. I am going to say this loud so those in the cheap seats can hear. GO FUCK YOURSELF. I would rather have a team of walkons whose dream was to wear burnt orange and walk on the field at DKR than some punk throwing ultimatums. These kids need to be told no.

What makes college football special is the traditions and community spirit that is forged at the games. Memories of good times with friends tailgating and memorable plays you were there to watch. I don’t care about the political opinions of UT players. I don’t care about your fucking opinions and no one wants to hear mine. The demand to get rid of the Eyes will rip through the fabric that binds us. It will piss off the vast majority of our fan base - including the ones that matter with deep pockets. We have already had so much taken from us that made UT football special. We have gone through a decade of losing, the cunty reign of Steve Patterson and the gross incompetence of Chollie. You put people through shit like that, they’re going to reassess. This fucking bullshit demand of the players AT THIS TIME, is so deviously destructive. It is a kill shot to our program. We obsess about the Horns because it is an escape from the world we live in. None of us are fans because of the political views of the players. The adults in the room need to step up and speak the truth. Tell the kids to fuck off and play football or take a hike.

Downside of closing the bars due to COVID, there isn’t anyone to cut you off when you’ve had just a few too many.

I really wonder how many of these guys really care about “instant” change enough to give up the potential of making millions?

Wonder why there isn’t a lot of this chatter from the players at OU, Bama, tOSU, LSU, etc...

Per a team source roughly 15 players are taking a “hard stance” on the requests or in their case it’s demands.  I’d bet most of those back off in the end if a few points on the checklist aren’t resolved to their liking.

Why Texas vs other programs?   I’d also bet a lot more programs would be in a similar scenario with UT if they had a Dr. Edmund Gordon on campus.   Factor in the culture of the program, campus & local community as well.

None of these observations are bad in my opinion, the requests for the most part are valid if not overdue.  I don’t know the entirety of Dr. Gordon’s tenure & agendas, but if in fact he’s the catalyst in this case..  it’s  bringing to light needed change that reflects “What Starts Here Changes The World”.

There is no more true “student athletes” in today’s CFB, but the current situation @ UT is healthy & far more favorable than the NFL D League mentality of the other programs you mentioned.

Let’s see how it all plays out, but I’m seeing a win/win in the end.

It's all about compliance culture.  They realize they have leverage right now and they are using it.  I fail to see where compromise happens when people are demanding and screaming or tone deaf and dismissive but this is a little bit silly.  It's gotten to the point if you don't immediately give into my demands then you must not care about them which is absurd.  I'm all for most of the proposed changes but calling them demands for one already sets a bad precedent. Young people have gotten to this weird point of thinking that if you don't give into my demands then you are a terrible person.  It only takes 3 seconds of thinking to come up with a conclusion like that.  Sounds like he needs to go home and have a real long serious conversation with himself.  The world doesn't revolve around Demarvion Overshown or any individual in particular.  That being said, I hear his concerns and I support him being able to say whatever he wants. And I hope he decides to come back because I think he has a ton of potential.

High emotions are running no doubt.   On this exact thread I had a poster challenge me over feelings towards “response time” & we are on the same side of the original points.

If the University had responded inside of the first few days if not week, some may have argued It was handled hastily & not given respect.

Simply stated, not everyone will be satisfied with the end result & there will be casualties.  I trust the administration will do the right thing.

It's a fucking song, and a poorly written one at that.  A song is negotiable, nothing to be idolized.

Passing along info, the “not negotiable” reflects the opinions of those other than myself & in a far better position to be heard.

”Cultural competency” isn’t a one way street, I’m just watching the cars pass by.

Oh so Clemson reaction was knee jerk? What's the possible fallout from these decisions? They are fucking no brainers dude. Fuck people like you. No one is saying do everything they asked, people are saying do things that are OBVIOUS and EASY wins.

As if being a cunt wasn’t enough, you just had to throw on a healthy sampling of stupid projections & assumptive statements.

Rather knee jerking shall we say?

    Exactly.

Texas dragging its feet on this issue fits the lazy culture of our school and alumni. We don’t care about winning. We care about talking about football. Let’s have some board meetings, hire a consultant firm, grill up some fajitas, pop a beer and talk about it. Then down the line, after we’ve already shown up late to the game, when can make a tweak or two, then we can buy the most expensive steak afterwards, and talk about how great we used to be.

Or they are not jerking their knees.
