The 2028 election is 39 months away. That's about 160 weeks so probably 150-200 insane "this will change everything" events. People had even cooled on the Selena shirts by 1999
Exactly. There's always some goober who thinks a particular event is singular with long reaching effects. After a weekend of college and NFL football distraction, this will quickly be yet another forgotten footnote. Those on the left (myself included) thought the effective overturn of Roe was going to seal the 2024 election for Dems. Womp womp.

Is "Bidet" French for how you say "Manservant you hired from near the dumpsters behind the Hancock HEB to wipe your ass"?

I took a one wipe shit today. Seriously, fiber is your friend. you need to do an additional wipe to validate but if it's all cleaned up in one wipe it's a single wipe dump.
Eat plenty of plant based foods to keep your butthole clean.
I eat a lot of fiber and this has not been my experience. Bidet for the win.

Singapore was cool. It's small and two full days/three nights is plenty to see the main sights in my opinion. A lot of the architecturally famous buildings you see in photos have aged and are bit shabby when seen close up. But still impressive. I enjoyed the war museum and colonial architecture in the old town. Everything is pretty expensive. Awesome airport.

I developed grinding about 6 years ago seemingly out of nowhere. Probably stress induced. Dentist said I had done some damage to my teeth and my jaw felt really fatigued. I got a custom mouthguard that I still wear. Grinding has gone down significantly. It helps that I made life changes that reduced my stressors.
You can get custom mouthguard kits online for 1/3rd the price dentists charge. Comes with various sized trays and putty that you bite into to make a hardened form. Takes a couple weeks to get the guard. You can get a cheapo version like one wears playing sports from any pharmacy, Target, etc...for the meantime.

Yeah, India is being punished for helping Russia by buying their oil and financing their war with Ukraine. You'd think they'd be rewarded for helping our president's butt buddy
I don't know how to feel about this one. I know intellectually that these tariffs are all incredibly stupid and self destructive. But I'm also kind of like fuck India for subsidizing Putin's murderous war.

It's not just an investment in the Spurs, it's also a major investment in our downtown and the city as a whole. This will undoubtedly have so many downstream benefits to tourism, small businesses, and pride in the city. A mega business city like Seattle can be ok after losing a sports team. It would be an enormous loss for a city like San Antonio.

I have a 37L Cotapaxi. Great bag. You'll only ever seen me with a Eagle Creek or Cotapaxi ever again. These two bag manufacturers are so much better than anything else on the market including Osprey
I have the 45L Osprey that always gets good reviews on these types of list. But I find the straps dig into my shoulders and affect circulation. May just be a me thing. I'll be trying out a Cotapaxi soon.

I finally understand a benefit to packing cubes. When you are staying at many different places on a trip, requiring many packings and un-packings, the cubes make it faster and easier to stay organized. It also helps for keeping dirty clothes separate. Does it save space? No.
I'm a big time convert. Separate cubes for shirts, boxers, socks, etc...just makes that part of traveling so much more convenient.

Randomly watched Apollo 13 for the first time in years. Still a great film.

I remember as a kid seeing Schindler's List and what kind of "decent" German citizen would let that kind of evil take root in their country. It's not as difficult to understand these days.

Democrats could immediately win back a lot of votes by swinging away from this psychotic pro-genocide platform they've been on.
I don't disagree. But I'm dubious that Israel/Palestine is a particularly important issue to many people.

People who go everywhere with their big headphones on. People being so disengaged from the world and the enshitification of the world probably has some connection. Similar to everyone glued to their phones (I'm a hypocrite).

I'm a fan of the Hawaii time zone. Wake up and watch the morning games with my coffee. Later games with lunch. Have the afternoon for the beach.

My default rule is every email, text, and call is a scam and I never answer any of them (or open attachments) unless I'm certain I know who they are.

I appreciate the detailed input. I got a quote a little while ago for $3,200 for a solo 7 night 60 mile highlights self-guided hike. Includes food, bag transport, and 4 hotels plus 3 refuges. Part of the cost is a single occupancy fee. Not cheap, particularly for a shorter itinerary, so I may look into the hiking club site. I'm aiming for August 2026, so hopefully rooms will be more available if I book it soon.

That's amazing Bobcat. I've had it on my list to do for years and never follow through until it's too late in the season and there's nowhere to stay. Did you use one of the agencies that books the stays and transports your big pack to each stop?

It's wildcat I think that points out, rightly, that a lot of these people, the petit bourgeouisie, are the main Trump supporters.
But, given how predictable the harm to businesses that rely on imported products (/Gary Oldman EVERYONE gif), it's astonishing that they're caught short by any of this.
And, it bothers me quite a lot because these are most of my clients (I am unsure how many were Trump voters, but all of them are like the MKC guy as far as having their oxen gored).
It's wild watching that podcast video. They seem like intelligent reasonable guys who work hard to run a business. Trump is all about chaos. Why did so many of these small business guys not consider how bad chaos might be for their businesses? From these lower level guys all the way up to Jamie Dimon types saying we need to get over worrying about tariffs. As a small business guy myself, it's mind blowing to me how enormous a blind spot all these guys have. FAFO indeed and we all get to pay for it.

I'm glad, of course, it ended up being a non-event for Hawaii. It was my first time in six plus years living here facing a serious potential damaging event. It was good practice figuring out what to load into the car and where to go. A dress rehearsal of sorts for something more serious. I realized I didn't have a real plan in place for something like this which is dumb when living on an isolated island.
