There could be plenty of things at play here. We need to stop the bleeding in recruiting. Everything is completely shut down right now. Loudmouths are being quiet. If Herman's really coming back I promise the quiet would end.

A lot went on for months, people started to celebrate, and then things went completely radio silent? Then all of a sudden the 9.95 morons start getting info from CDC? Who wasnt even on point for this deal?

Confidence was high for a long time, meetings take place, and Urban wont put the issue to rest? This deal isnt over. Its in hibernation. Ive been having fun in this thread, but we are likely a month away. There's gonna be a ton of noise like today. The 9.95ers will have to keep their subscribers at bay while theyre in the dark or being fed horseshit. Dont let the timeline mind fuck you.

He claims that Urban told him not to ask about it on the podcast - but that they talked about it 'off the record' beforehand.

Yup - that was in the original post when he asked for questions for the interview.

  3. Here's Barton's interview with Urbs (FYI he's wearing the same shirt/pullover combo he was in HFD's laptop pic). It won't embed. If you don't want to download it, I think he said he's gonna release it publicly two days from now. He also mentioned in the description that Shelley has a serious fever/tested positive for covid :(

Spoiler alert: He's not going to respond. His MO is to drop a curiosity bomb with no context every once in a while and sit back and watch us stir. Maybe we'll get three ninja emojis. Maybe.

    @hornfromdallas prove him wrong 👀👀👀

That was my first thought.  Maybe it was, "If you say a word and it gets out, I'm not coming," and it's you and Sonny Dykes.

Well then we’re fucked because it did get out and now we’re gonna have Dykes

Wait if this Urbs talking to the current players (one of whom is related to our boy HFD) then this is curtains. We’re done here. We cracked the case. Nyt shift strikes again!!!

Say what you will about Larry, he does have a really oddly accurate track record.

He called Ewers decommitting before it happened and said he'd go to osu.

He said without question that Tom would not give his Monday press conference and that Kansas would be cancelled.

He didn't say maybe like a 9.95er, he said all of these things would happen and they did.

His most notable miss was that Herman would be fired and Drayton named interim following osu, but he did say that information was assuming we would lose the game like everyone expected us to.

Maybe he's just incredibly lucky, but I'm inclined to think he actually has a source. Only question is if his source is just wrong on Meyer.

Didn't derpy or someone else find out he probably has a connection to Trace Armstrong?

When Urban comes here, the Mack Brown curse will be lifted and forced onto the next team that hires Herman.

To be fair, Barton basically confirmed what CTJ said about Mack advising him not to take the job. Said he'd spoken with someone "interesting" on their opinion re: the program and working with the administration. Needless to say, Mack probably did not have glowing remarks.

I just can’t see somebody like CUM going to Bama. Not because of anything Bama related but why would he just follow the only coach of this era that is considered superior to him. What’s the challenge in that? That move has micropenis energy.

Yeah, I agree that winning at Bama would come with a huge asterisk next to it. Just made that comment from the talent perspective given that it seems talent/recruiting is what he values the most.

Given that the thread has spun itself back into a frenzy, I might as well add to it.

One of the strangest things about his dance with Texas was the strong interest by both sides. Then all of a sudden he cooled, and quickly. We can argue whether it was two, three or one week ago, but at some point he backed off.

I’m wondering if he was contacted about another job he potentially wanted more, or at least wanted to explore, before giving a final answer to Texas. With the Saban retirement rumor, the Michigan situation, etc, maybe there’s another job he’s working in parallel.

This is sounding more and more likely to me. I don't think he'd go to Michigan but ND/Bama definitely would be enticing to him. Bama would be plug and play but it sounds like the administration there is hanging its hat on Sark as the successor.

This article is interesting because it definitely implies this is not about the money for him. I might actually go through both the ND and UT rosters here to gauge the talent because that seems like the key factor. I don't know if recruiting proximity would quite matter given he's Urban Meyer but perhaps a slight to moderate advantage for UT there. Not sure what the AD/administrative differences are.

Barton is either a completely unprofessional joke ... Or he's lying

Kirk always insinuates that he is very buddy-buddy with Urban but their interactions are always Kirk trying to be very casual with him/Urban being very formal. Urban doesn't really slip up or act differently so I could totally see a scenario where he is embellishing things. He definitely relishes the attention.

    Certainly a possibility.

I will say, literally everything I have ever seen, heard, or read (mainly his book Above the Line) about the man leads me to believe that he would get started immediately and try to get Ewers in the fold.  The idea that he'd let Ewers go to Ohio State when he has a decent shot of getting him on his team is just not at all consistent with who I think he is.  He could take the job without taking any assistants with him, and just recruit before NSD1.

I mean, how much do you really want a coach that has so little dedication to your program that he'll let one of the highest rated QBs in recruiting services history go to Ohio State, because he likes them or cares about his legacy or whatever?  If a coach was trying to pull that bullshit when getting hired by OSU, I would be deeply unhappy.

Ewers would be signing next year so NSD1 doesn't matter.

I quoted you in it originally, but accidentally deleted the quote in my edit. Imgur doesn't imbed in Surly, so I uploaded it so it'd be imbedded.

Ah gotcha - thanks. I'll keep that in mind going forward. Haven't been able to upload stuff before so still figuring this out.
