Damn. Only one I’ve remotely cared about.

Rerick is having an impressive summer. 1.8era in 10ip, limiting walks a bit better. Navarre is getting shelled. Chamberlain is going to be a solid starter catcher for someone next season
Winfield reverting to the mean in the cape. Don’t ask, don’t tell on Tinney’s numbers. Not worried, it was a long season and he’s been on trips constantly this summer for visits/award ceremonies.
-
Won’t be any complaining about lack of lefty bats or arms next year. Outstanding ID and execution on positions of need. Guess this is what happens when portal season starts in May instead of late June for this staff

Witt still hasn’t thrown consistently since. Can we ship that surgeon to Guantanamo?

Borba’s numbers in SEC play really tell the story a lot of people see.
.227 BA
.792 OPS
38 strikeouts to 30 BB/HBP in 97 plate appearances.
So yeah, dramatic improvement seems fitting.
.800 ops in conference was 4th on the team, for context

This isn’t the first place I’ve seen Arod listed in CF. If he is our starting CF then we have some serious defensive issues
No. Robbins or Jonah

Great fucking work to all involved there. Had to be the top guy on our board and got it done

….so now just need a catcher. Probably the position we needed the most.
Last I checked Chamberlains ops was 1.000 so far this summer. We aren’t dead in the water if we miss there, but obviously it’s preferable for Chamberlain to platoon LH DH.
If we miss at C we probably need 1 more top of the order bat. Moving Volantis out of the pen likely means we can’t expect to win nearly every close game again next season

Pretty much everyone except UGA have catchers set for next year either returning or committed. Appears like LSU has entered the sweepstakes, would be pretty cut throat to recruit over Arrambide.
-
Lot of budget for Tinney is freed up. I assume plenty of teams are ahead of us in line for Sosa. The backup plan seems like Mack Whitcomb now, good slugging backstop from Tenn Tech
-
Tinney back in the cape with no public decision. Miss st just landed our backup option
-
Cant wait for defensive errors to be the difference in our series again. .910 fielder now playing on natural grass and facing harder hit balls
-
If the roster limit is 34 we still need to cut like 10 rostered guys/commits. Reducing roster sizes was such an unnecessary move

I don’t think they are done adding elsewhere, but you get Tinney and a SS (Becker plz) and things start looking pretty good offensively.
Still interested to see where Rodriguez slots in defensively because Moroknek is for sure in the OF and Freeman seems destined for the OF too considering we have a pretty good second baseman.
I’d say it’s a pretty good sign that Tinney is leaving the cape for a visit. Assumed the ship had sailed there.
Dylan Grego - Ball St SS seems to be one that the whole staff is following. 1.000 ops and .980 fielding % vs meh competition
Wondering if we’d offer Dylan Loy a weekend spot.
With closer settled today we’re looking to be in good shape with plenty of time left

Huge, MSU fans were pissed to lose him. Mostly a 1 inning guy, mid 90s lefty. Went 1.2 scoreless vs us with 3 Ks.

Definitely has power.
This was when he was with Auburn, 432 ft.
Right fielder never takes a step.
Will be funny for many reasons to have a mega douche on the team. Schloss going to let him keep the chains?

Winfield and Gasparino are only going to The Cape because that is where they played last summer. I think they usually just invite the returning guys back, and all the draft-eligible guys that leave are replaced by new freshmen/sophomores.
Winfield got sent home after like 2 weeks last year of hitting .100. Surprised he got invited back

Lefty OF 1.150 ops at butler
draft risk still

Seems like twitter mostly sorts Following by recent again if anyone cares to see who we’re targeting. Not shocking, but LSU and Tenn already have some big fish in the boat

Is Flores the most overrated player in recent UT baseball history? He’s slow, chokes, and looked like an idiot at the plate for what feels like the entire second half of the season. Please go pro.
Say whatever you want about the end of his career here at the plate, but he is certainly not a choker. 2 post season grand slams. Grand slam in the 9th this year to not get swept by T state. Huge late homer and another rbi in the Saturday game vs LSU that won us that series. At least 5 walk offs/go ahead homers last year
We clearly need to upgrade there, but the shit talking is going overboard on him

Played catcher, outfield, and infield in the Trinity League under head coach Eric Borba.
As soon as I saw OLu I wondered that. I’m sure Borba ending the season on such a high note can’t hurt their reviews of the program
1/3 of his hits as homers and 50 Ks feels very Gasparino-y. Homers vs USC and UCI midweek and a few vs UCSB. Can’t teach 20 homer power as a freshman, but that K rate in the WCC is a bit scary.

Becker (UVA SS that was on campus this weekend) ain’t much better at .925.
Trying to find a SS in the portal is like trying to find a LT in the portal in football. The good ones are either being kept by their existing teams or hold the most leverage in the portal.Maybe there is a world where they look to bring in a 2B then let Mendoza/Rodriguez battle it out at SS? Not what I would do but just brainstorming.
Let’s just pony up for 2 years of Cunningham and our problems are all solved

Amazing bat by every metric and hit well in their 2 series vs tournament teams. Can’t put a .910 fielder at short though

Dumb question amnesty, doesn't the portal close before the draft?
We didn’t get Spencer until late July last year

10ip across 3 outings this summer in Santa Barbara with 4H, 4BB, 16 Ks. Pretty good chance he’ll figure it out in his career, and I’d say it won’t take even 1 more year
I did forget about Moffett too, but I’d rather have 2 more years of Rerick than a guy in Moffett who’s never going to be a strike thrower
