  1. Nice attempt at a dig, but I also think we have too many uniform combos. A few of them have a classic look and I wish we'd stick with those. I understand the reason we do it, but I still don't like it.

Just because you're a fan doesn't mean you have to defend everything your school does. A basketball player on a football uniform is dumb regardless of whether or not recruits like it.

  2. Not H-E-B, per se, but it is made by the H-E-B folks.  Central Market Hatch Green Chili Queso has the suck. Avoid it.
Roasting my own hatch chilies and throwing them in a pot of Rotel & Easy Melt worked much better.
Weird, I just read this same thing earlier. Good to know.
  3. Friend had an older Viper and told me the drivetrain was pretty basic but you're kinda fucked if anything else breaks or gets damaged. $15K just for a hood I think he said.

Saw an orange one tonight and they do turn heads.

  4. I guess I hadn't heard St. Arnold's Weedwacker was dead. So stock up if that's your thing.

Picked up some Paulaner Oktoberfest Wiesn. Can't remember if I've seen that in six packs before.

  5. They are not lacking for business.  From 11-1 every yard crew in the area is camped out under the trees in the parking lot.  From 5-7 its nothing but dads whose wife called them on the way home and asked them to pick up dinner.  Very busy.  Add in the fact that the only 2 employees are complete stoners (I’m 90% sure they were dealing) making minimum wage and it seems like a viable business model.
I have no doubt the business model works. Was speaking more to the quality going downhill.
  6. I feel like Little Caesar's was better back in the day when you called in and actually ordered what you wanted along with Crazy Bread. Once they switched to the Hot-n-Ready model, it was all downhill. That doesn't mean I didn't regularly partake during my college years. We did find a roach cooked into the cheese once though. So there's that.

Well...I mean the guy is already out his truck for two weeks and has a bill over $1K...and counting. I get it, but this is why I don't trust anyone with my property.

Took my truck in once for a simple hub replacement and they broke an unrelated part that was on backorder. I ended up changing the other side out for $100 and a few hours of my time.

  8. Looks good.  I need to get after my doors.  What paint did you use?  Any prep tips?

Used Sherwin Williams Emerald interior/exterior urethane trim enamel. Also used it on my front door.

Since it was already painted before, there wasn't anything special with prep other than normal cleaning, light sanding, and filling gouges from where our dog scratched it up. The front door took more time to prep since it was stained wood with the difference being that I primed with Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3.

I've had good results with this paint using brushes for the hard to reach spots and finishing out with foam mini rollers. Doesn't look quite as good as sprayed, but pretty close.

Also, I tried something new with the hardware to hopefully prevent it from sticking if I need to remove it in the future. Before reinstalling I coated the contact points with a thin layer of dry Teflon lubricant. Not sure if it will work or not, but worth a try.

  9. To follow up on that, the clay removes the deposits that are embedded in the paint. Should feel like glass after you do it. It's really a pretty simple process if you have the time. I wash the car, apply Iron-X, wipe down and rinse. I then use the Clay Magic blue bars and Chemical Guys clay lube purchased on Amazon. Keep the paint wet and move the clay in straight lines. Wash and rinse again before polishing. Use a Porter Cable 7424XP or equivalent with a medium to mild pad and Meguiars Ultimate Compound. Watch YouTube videos and work in small sections. Rinse and wipe down with a diluted isopropyl mix. Apply Zaino or some other type of synthetic sealant afterwards.

That's about as easy and cheap of a detail as you can get although it's still a lot of work.
