Dempsey was not a Bradenton product. He was as bootstrapped/homegrown as it gets. Even spent three years at college, playing for the mighty Furman Paladins.

Can't think of a single other field player in history who "developed" for three years in the NCAAs and ultimately found their way to the top-level of European club soccer (Premiership, Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, Ligue 1).

    Tim Ream?

Right. Tamayo wasn't using them. Other people were and communicating the information to him.

EDIT to add: And I'm not trying to be smartass or pedantic. For example, what if I'm down to 12 bigs in a tourney and text a buddy and say hey wug open jamming ranges 12 bigs BTN, CO, HJ? and he replies? Was I "using a solver"? I don't think so. It gets pretty gray pretty fast.

How was he not using them? The first second of the Doug Polk video shows shows him at the rail and seems like he's "using" the computer there to me.

  3. I realize that it's Lebron who a lot of people hate and I'm sure ESPN is shoving this down everyone's throat to make it worse but is this really that much worse than Thanasis' career on the Bucks?

More on the Olympic team, we left this guy off the roster.  Hes been a contributing u-23 member for a bit

The Olympic roster hasn't been announced yet so Luna could still make the team.

Rothenstein thinks our starting 5 is Pope, Mark, Johnson, Kaluma, Shedrick

Those 5 plus Larry, Kent, and Weaver is a really strong 8 man rotation even if we're a little small inside

people have been talking about these fudged stats for a while now, and I’ve never been able to bring myself to care at all. Are we really going to act like Michael Jordan was not one of the all-time great defensive players in NBA history because he was given an extra steal here or there? does this “news” really do anything to change your opinion on Michael Jordan or his defensive ability and prowess? for me it does not. especially considering that the genesis of all of this talk is a bunch of GenZ kids trying to paint the NBA legends from the 80s as plumbers.

This is more of a targeted thing where specifically for Jordan's defensive player of the year season, the home scorekeeper insanely padded his numbers. Every other season his home/away splits for steals and blocks are essentially the same while in that season he got twice as many steals and blocks at home as he did away.

There have been at least two.

She was talking about the first one "did you see when JJ knocked me down?" and it's not even close to the same type of play. Running up the court, cutting a player off twice, and getting a shoulder check for your trouble (which seems like was the exact type of reaction she was looking for) is different than standing without the ball and just taking a hip check out of nowhere. But she knows that

  8. Clingan would be an awful pick for the Rockets. He'd help with interior defense but he and Sengun would have a hard enough time sharing the floor together before trying to fit in Amen and taking into account our general lack of shooters.

Reed Sheppard is the obvious option if we keep the pick. He should be a very good shooter and thrive playing off of Sengun as a secondary creator.

  9. It's Tactical Manager who is basically just a troll at this point and Weston's "friend" who is regularly making shit up chasing clout. Everyone would be better off completely ignoring those two guys. The Berhalter is literally Hilter faction of the fan base (that is pretty well represented here) really makes following anything USMNT a beating.

If Balogun wants to be mad at anyone about the last game, it should be Weston. He's the guy who kept missing Balogun's runs (and had a great game otherwise). Which seems to be the whole point Berhalter is making. The "we" he's talking about isn't saying the coaching staff needs to come up with a plan and just started thinking about that when they got into camp. "We" is the guys on the field with him need to get used to playing with Balogun, see the runs he's making, and deliver the pass.

I’m fine with Brooks’ contract. Not the issue. But Eason’s playing time is.

Can Ime not coach up Eason on defense to somewhere approaching Brooks’ level? Or did they sign Brooks to teach Eason? Eason is going to be on his second contract before Brooks is up. Is Brooks a trade price? It’s just weird reasoning to me.

The Rockets want to win games. Eason will develop more playing 24 minutes a game for a team attempting to win games than he would playing all of the minutes he wants on a team content with lucking into 20 wins with no organizational effort to win.

If Eason ends up too good to play 24-30 minutes being the backup 3/4, that's a good problem to have.

If why these people and probably the US are lost. It’s fair to disagree on opinions or goals, but when we disagree on math, like election results, we’ve lost.

some have dug in too deep and can never admit they’re wrong. Admitting they’re wrong would most likely shatter their mental state. But these 25-40% of the public will continue to vote. I have no doubt we will still hear “Trump won” 30 years after his death.

what's strange to me is how many people here seem to have drawn the line with this season as the point where the show jumped the shark, when in reality this season has been no different from the last, i dunno, 3, 5, 6 seasons? in fact i've enjoyed a couple of this season's episodes more than i have any episode of the most recent seasons. the idea at bat this season is noticeably different/worse than other seasons is confusing to me.

    People are dumb.

The one difference that I've noticed this season is that something will happen and it's kinda funny, not bad at all, but seems like would have been way funnier if they had gone a slightly different direction. I'm watching the show and in the moment seeing things that feel like missed opportunities to do something else. But is that an actual difference in the show? Probably not. It's probably just more exposure to their process with the podcast and see them clearly reacting to feedback they've gotten but not doing in in the way I thought was best.
