  1. I don't think 3/5 at the back is the answer for the US. We have struggled scoring and when everyone is healthy (if that ever happens) already have trouble finding minutes for all of the attacking players we want on the field. 3/5 in the back pulls another one of those attackers for an extra central defender.

4-2-3-1 could be a great fit for our player pool as a slight change up to the 4-3-3. It would really play out very similarly to what we already have but would add a true 10 role for Reyna instead of just a free role on the wing.

I still want to see Reyna as a false 9 in the 4-3-3. That gets the most talent on the field for us and Pulisic/Reyna/Weah have a lot of ability to switch across the front line.

This Golden Generation stuff is comical.

This absolutely could be a golden generation, but the thought that our current roster is our golden generation in their prime is just wild. Our best players are all in the 19-23 range.

The best comp I've seen for Jabari is a better three point shooting Rashard Lewis, which would be a very useful player, but also profiles to be probably the 3rd or 4th best player on a contender, depending on whether or not you have a superstar. So while arguably that's not what you're looking for at the very top of the draft, it's also a pretty high floor for that pick

We should be hoping to get a long 3&D wing with the Brooklyn pick, but with Sochan probably gone by then, you're probably hoping that Eason is there, otherwise you might be rolling the dice on Kendall Brown

Three point shooting was kinda Rashard Lewis's thing, do you mean a better defensive Rashard Lewis?

Is it wrong that my first thought is GGG is going to be fucking insufferable about his lineup getting dragged?

If your first thought about the US being up 3-0 to all but clench qualification is "I'm going to get annoyed that the coach thinks he got the lineup right", yeah, you're wrong.

  5. Too bad Hoppe (who has played like 60 minutes in the last 6 months) or Konrad (got hurt at the start of the year and hasn't played at all since) wasn't here to play instead...

    Random odd thought.

We're not sold on a coach that is now 3-0-3 against Mexico; with 4 of the games being legitimate "important" games.

Our last six games against Mexico are 3 wins, 1 draw, 2 losses.

We need 2 more points. Panama can get to 24 now.

If we tie Panama, they can't pass us. If we tie Costa Rica, they realistically can't pass us on goal differential. That should mean we are guaranteed to at least be fourth and make the playoff with one more point.

That 5m mark from Babers feels a little arbitrary to me. No one says the 5m mark. It’s always the last 4m with the tv timeout. It makes me suspicious what the difference is in the numbers when that one minute is factored in.

The NBA uses 5 minutes within 5 points as "clutch time". Is there a different standard for college?

  9. Can either of you explain the thought process behind why you would always be beat vs a competent player? It's been several years since I played poker consistently, but I'm not sure I understand the reasoning.

Seriously man ?  THAT was a lame ass attempt at a punch best case for Juwan. He swung his hand at an oppose coach in uncontrolled, anger, and rage.  Either way he caused a melee.. HE'S THE COACH !  It's his job to be the adult, and keep that kind of shit from not happening.

So to ask you the same question, what's your excuse for being a moron here?

I mean, I said he ridiculously overreacted and that it's fine if Michigan fires him for it, they just don't have to fire him. It's just also blatantly clear that it is not a punch.

this is fucking hilarious.  he wasn't trying to pull the guy closer to yell at him.  he was doing the NBA don't throw a closed fist thing

Of course he does. First, he would’ve punched him if he wasn’t, you know, Juwan Howard. Second, he incited a scrum filled with teenager and early 20s college students that would’ve been much worse if not for the level heads of his staff and the Wisc staff. Lol at Howard trying to “pull him closer to keep yelling at him”. Who does that?  Go home, you’re drunk.

If you watch that and think it was a punch or attempted punch, you're a fucking moron. If Michigan wants to fire him, cool. Feel free. But this isn't a situation where he 100% has to get fired no matter what.

  12. The whole "he threw a punch!" thing is pretty dumb. He didn't throw a punch. He tried to grab the dude's head to pull him closer to keep yelling at him (for whatever dumbass reason he wanted to do that). He ridiculously overreacted to the situation but I wouldn't say he needs to be fired just from this alone.

In theory - who is the best set piece taker on the team? Does anyone take them for club? Pulisic does sometimes. I would think Dest would be good but he may not have much experience.

Aaronson maybe? I feel like I recall him having some nice ones for us now that I think about it.

Reyna, Busio, Acosta. Of the players on the field, it's Pulisic. Seems like Dest would be good but I don't think I've ever seen him take one.

Why are people suggesting that LMA needs to make the HOF to have his number retired?

Is T.J. Ford in the HOF?

LMA did more in college than Durant and more in the pros than Ford.  Retire his number.  As others have pointed out, there are program reasons to do this, and LMA has earned the honor.

The rule used to be "win national player of the year, get your number retired". Durant and Ford did that. Aldridge was nowhere close. Basketball HOF would be something that sets him apart. Also, we should stop pretending Aldridge did more in college than Durant. Yes, he was here two years and there was more team success, but Aldridge was not even the best player on his team, while Durant was the best player in college.

It has been a couple years since i read the books, but i don't remember Moraine and Siuan bumping uglies.

New Spring (the prequel book) reveals that they were "pillow friends" but they definitely weren't banging at this point in the story in the books (at least not that we ever saw or were told about).

I definitely wanted more from this episode. Feels like they cut the season too short and are rushing but also kinda not a lot is going on. If the end of this season and then next season aren't better, not sure how long this is going to last.

  16. There are actually two USL players Kobi Henry and Jonathan Gomez (and it sounds like the two of you are each talking about one of them).

To me, this feels like a perfect roster for this kind of game/camp if there was just one or two more promising young midfielders in the group.

Or some other center forward. I'm 100 percent pro-Pepi, but it's absolutely bonkos that Gergg called up a solitary striker for the previous two cycles.

The last two games Pepi and Jesus were the only two strikers. The window before that Pepi, Zardes, and Hoppe were called in as the potential strikers.

It feels like Pefok and Dike have dropped out of favor because they don’t fit the pressing style.

A rational country given this occurrence would take a hard look at open carry and how it relates to self defense laws.

A rational country would just get rid of open carry entirely.

So I have a question for the actual lawyers on this site.  Let's say in the future a African American man goes to a predominantly white neighborhood and is armed to the teeth with a few rifles and guns.  Someone in the neighborhood comes out and says "what are you doing here".  Does the man with the guns have the right to start shooting people and then claiming it was self defense because he had fear for his life?  You can reverse this same scenario to a white man going into a African American neighborhood fully armed and doing the same thing.  Is this technically legal now and your lawyer would cite precedent in the Rittenhouse case?  I don't need to here that the white guy can do it but the black guy can't as I already know there is racial bias in this country.

I've seen similar things to this several times now where people are worried that there is now a precedent that a person can just show up wherever they want with a gun and then start indiscriminately shooting whoever they want based on "I was afraid for my life".

I don't understand how this case would do anything of the sort. It wasn't some South Park "It's coming right for us!" situation. Everything was on video and we all got to see what happened. No matter what you think about Rittenhouse (he's an idiot who basically has zero chance now at becoming a reasonable human being), whether he should have been there (obviously not), or open carry laws (completely fucking stupid and should be done away with), he didn't just show up and start shooting whoever he felt like shooting.
