  1. It's Tactical Manager who is basically just a troll at this point and Weston's "friend" who is regularly making shit up chasing clout. Everyone would be better off completely ignoring those two guys. The Berhalter is literally Hilter faction of the fan base (that is pretty well represented here) really makes following anything USMNT a beating.

If Balogun wants to be mad at anyone about the last game, it should be Weston. He's the guy who kept missing Balogun's runs (and had a great game otherwise). Which seems to be the whole point Berhalter is making. The "we" he's talking about isn't saying the coaching staff needs to come up with a plan and just started thinking about that when they got into camp. "We" is the guys on the field with him need to get used to playing with Balogun, see the runs he's making, and deliver the pass.

I’m fine with Brooks’ contract. Not the issue. But Eason’s playing time is.

Can Ime not coach up Eason on defense to somewhere approaching Brooks’ level? Or did they sign Brooks to teach Eason? Eason is going to be on his second contract before Brooks is up. Is Brooks a trade price? It’s just weird reasoning to me.

The Rockets want to win games. Eason will develop more playing 24 minutes a game for a team attempting to win games than he would playing all of the minutes he wants on a team content with lucking into 20 wins with no organizational effort to win.

If Eason ends up too good to play 24-30 minutes being the backup 3/4, that's a good problem to have.

If why these people and probably the US are lost. It’s fair to disagree on opinions or goals, but when we disagree on math, like election results, we’ve lost.

some have dug in too deep and can never admit they’re wrong. Admitting they’re wrong would most likely shatter their mental state. But these 25-40% of the public will continue to vote. I have no doubt we will still hear “Trump won” 30 years after his death.

what's strange to me is how many people here seem to have drawn the line with this season as the point where the show jumped the shark, when in reality this season has been no different from the last, i dunno, 3, 5, 6 seasons? in fact i've enjoyed a couple of this season's episodes more than i have any episode of the most recent seasons. the idea at bat this season is noticeably different/worse than other seasons is confusing to me.

    People are dumb.

The one difference that I've noticed this season is that something will happen and it's kinda funny, not bad at all, but seems like would have been way funnier if they had gone a slightly different direction. I'm watching the show and in the moment seeing things that feel like missed opportunities to do something else. But is that an actual difference in the show? Probably not. It's probably just more exposure to their process with the podcast and see them clearly reacting to feedback they've gotten but not doing in in the way I thought was best.

At some point you have to realize that just because player A signed with team A for price A, doesn't mean player A would sign with team B for price A. Rockets are a shitty team, unless they overpaid they were not getting NBA players to come to Houston and mentor teenagers and 20 somethings.

No shit the Rockets weren't going to sign Dwight Powell for 3 years, 12 million total. But could they have given him 12 million a year of money that they needed to spend that would be coming off the books when it was time to pay the young guys (assuming some of them pan out)? Yeah, probably. Instead they gave that money to Dillon Brooks.

And Jeff Green took a one year deal for 6 million to do exactly the thing you're saying NBA players wouldn't do.

  6. The problem with Brooks as a player is that he's another guy who doesn't create offense for anyone else and he loves to shoot while not being a very good shooter. Definitely think the Rockets would have been better off spending that money on a better backup center (the Mavs managed to bring Dwight Powell back for 3 years, 12 million total) and another guard who can shoot and create (Detroit traded a future 2nd to take on Monte Morris's expiring contract, the Rockets surely could have done that too).

    wut?

Pepi was competing for one of three forward slots. His competition was Sargent, Haji, and Jesus (and Pefok). Morris was competing for a wing spot. His competition was Pulisic, Weah, Reyna, and Aaronson (with Arriola being the actual competition that he beat out).

Who is defending the hire? Please educate us. @goatsaag is the biggest apologist here and I'm willing to bet he would have liked us to hire someone else.

Keep yelling at the clouds. Over/under there's half a poster here that wanted Gerg.

Yeah, I think he's a solid coach who did well with the US but didn't do enough to be brought back for 4 more years. Would have preferred a change but bringing him back isn't the end of the world and does not doom the team to failure.

that is absolutely the concern here, dude. GERG is known for having his pets. fucking jordan morris over Pepi in the WC? fuck!

Serious question, are you really this invested in the USMNT to be so upset about this while also not following the team enough to not realize Jordan Morris and Pepi were not competing for the same roster spot? Or are you just doing a fake outrage thing about something you know didn't happen just for fun?

this probably best describes the hesitation to berhalterball v. 1.2beta

Takes like this really do a poor job of remembering how infrequently our best players have actually all been available at the same time.

The craziest thing about bringing greggggggg back is that the team has looked MUCH better (albeit against worse competition) with his assistant coaches running the show.

That says a lot, get out of these players way and let them play. But apparently the fed don't watch their team.

    or

I don't think Berhalter should be the choice (he did well here but it takes more than that for me to think you get a 2nd cycle) and am worried about the coaching and player pool getting stale over a 2nd cycle but the things we've been doing in this interim period are based on Berhalter's system with his assistants running the show. The team performing well right now is not somehow proving that Berhalter = bad.

Some of the runs he was making next to Weah tonight were straight football porn. And at the same time he was freeing CP along the other wing. That first run that CP made by himself where he chipped it over the bar Balogun was wide open in perfect position to his right.

Both Pulisic goals, Balogun was in perfect position to score too. If Pulisic made the pass on the first goal or a deflection came off Ochoa, Balogun scores. If Weah cuts the ball back a little more instead of getting it across goal, Balogun scores. Definitely encouraging that he's in all the right spots even if he didn't get a chance to even get a shot this game.
