It in no world makes any sense for either side. PE does well when there's something wrong and/or someone needs the money.
Texas athletics or the University do not need money and are running arguably better than any other university already. There is no advantage to it under any circumstance and if some PE firm wants to light money on fire and pay 100B for the Texas brand which is over 10x the value of the current highest sports franchise on planet earth, Texas would simply refuse because they have nothing to spend 100B on.
I mean, they could enhance the fan experience with that kind of money. Strippers and cocaine for everyone!

Tosh Lupoi to Cal very close to complete

Who? (Commanders QB coach)
Really thought the big NIL infusion and Luck could land a bigger name. Or he’s just a puppet for Luck
He and Luck are besties. Or something like that

Tosh Lupoi to Cal looks nailed on, details are being ironed out. On3 stating recruits are being told he is the new coach and other insiders stating things are moving extremely rapidly with donors lined up to pay for him

He is an athletic freak if I remember right. When he committed to Cal the mods were all “uhhhh NFL body like now”. I think he is pretty raw but I am going off memory from 6 months ago. High upside player but might take a year or two to find his sea legs

He probably couldn’t afford to live in Palo Alto on a D1 head coach salary.
Furd provides "free" housing to their football coaches as part of their salary package. It is straight up country club shit but a very nice incentive because PA and the surrounding Silicon Valley is definitely crazy $

Pretty big step down from Wilcox if you ask me.
Wilcox is a really not good head coach in virtually every area except being a nice guy. DC is his level. No idea if Lupoi will be a good HC or not but dunno how anyone can say he’d be a step down

Don’t know who I want at Cal, but Lupoi hasn’t impressed me. Bama and Oregon have him on as an ace recruiter, less as a manager or Xs and Os guy (Saban and Lanning or others seem to have handled that). Cal needs a HC that can do 2 out of 3 by themselves.
I want an OC that has succeeded under a defensive minded HC or vise versa. All depends on his coordinator choices. The $ wants him so I think it’ll happen. He won’t be calling plays but setting culture and recruiting and he is good at that.

Can he coach DBs? Asking for a friend..
He was Sark's DC at UW and USC
He is a very good to outstanding DC IMO. He was a safety when he played but I seem to remember him as a LB coach mostly before his DC days? Can’t quite remember. Wouldn’t be shocked at all to see him as an analyst here unless he goes to the pros

He’s going to make someone a great DC next year
Agreed, he is a very good defensive mind. There has also been speculation that he has his eyes on a pro job because the college stuff has worn him out

Justin Wilcox is beyond fired at Cal after violently shitting the bed against Furd. Only question is if it is announced before or after the ass kicking next week against SMU

For the one and only time in my life I will say “thank you, Furd. You are dogshit and your campus looks like a Taco Bell but you put the nail in the Justin Wilcox coffin. For that, Bless you.”
wait, you also dragged us with you into the ACC otherwise we’d be Oregon State right now. Ok, I say thank you twice but that’s it. Now go fuck yourself off to hell

Fine, it wasn’t a blowout.
It was an asskicking, curbstomping, buttfucking, or whatever your description of “they bent us over a table on national TV” is.
at least it wasn't a violent buttfucking. So we got that going for us

Cal is not firing Wilcox. They're having a damn good year for Cal.
And they won.
The win means he doesn’t get canned this week but I would be surprised if he is back. 9 years and this is arguably his worst team. Don’t let the record fool you, their schedule is beyond weak and they shit the bed numerous times this season.
Wilcox needed 8-4 at a minimum to survive and while it’s still possible, it is believed that he is also exhausted by all the struggles and may look for a Pro job like his bestie, Peter Sirmon, got last season. I wouldn’t be surprised by a quiet separation sooner rather than later. The win versus Louisville shows he hasn’t lost the team but if they had gotten rolled, he was gone by Monday
-
I guess Wilcox isn't getting tarmac'd after all

What a world that Cal decides to fire its coach in the middle of the season with a 5-4 record. I mean, c'mon, it's Cal.
The team sucks and it was the easiest schedule in at least 50 years. Plus, the chances they finish better than 6-6 are remote. Wilcox needed an 8-4 with that shit schedule to stay alive.
-
Not high on many peeps radar but Justin Wilcox is all but done at Cal. Negotiated buyout discussions underway behind the scenes. Might be announced as soon as after the Louisville game this weekend. Definitely no later than after the last game against SMU.
The money at Cal wants Tosh Lupoi and supposedly there is reciprocal interest. We'll see.

I feel like this thread has veered wildly off topic. To get us back on track:

Oregon State fucking my Pick 'em tonight.
Ooof, Cal beating the shit out of Oregon State was the easiest money of the week. Maybe the year. If Cal’s WRs could catch and a bullshit PI wasn’t called on a pick 6, that game was headed towards 55-9. 34-15 flattered the Beavs big time

I think they had an unofficial coach in waiting there so this wont move the chaos needle much
