Any Scipio postmortem nuggets?
If he analyzes the offensive line his post game write up might not be suitable for children. I watched a lot of football yesterday and I did not see a single game that featured an offensive line worse than ours. That included multiple G5 and Big 12 games.-

I think every SEC opponent is ranked that OU plays. Also read the OU thread. There’s serious deep seated issues in the foundation and they poor bruh. Texas struggles don’t change those facts. Croots ain’t coming anytime soon…
On this day, September 14th, Oklahoma has a better team than Texas. That was not a comment about long term program health or macro recruiting trends. In Dallas this team is going to lose by two TD’s to Oklahoma. That is my immediate concern.-

In Chris Simms's first start, he went 10-20 for 130 yards with 1 INT, 0 TD and was sacked 4 times (Applewhite didn't do much better when he came in, going 5-11 for 53 yards and fumbling on the last drive).
In VY's first start he was 12-16 for 156 with 1 INT, 1 TD. The next game he was 7-13 for 65 yards. The next game he was 8-15 for 68 yards and 2 INT. But VY did run for 100+ yards with a TD or two at least once, if not twice, in that time span.
Colt was 12-19 for 178 with 3 TD. The next game he was 19-32 for 154 with 1 INT, 1 TD. The next game he was 7-8 for 124 and 2 TD.
Sam was 15-27 for 222 with 1 TD. The next game he was 21-40 for 298 with 2 INT, 2 TD. He didn't start the game after that due to injury.
Ewers was 16-24 for 225 with 1 INT, 2 TD. The next game he was 9-12 for 134. He didn't start the game after that due to injury.
Point is, that's five NFL QBs, including two NPOYs, none of whom exactly beat the world in their first few games as the full-time starter. None of them looked polished or consistent, but all of them showed flashes of what they could do. All of them eventually looked polished and consistent (bad games here and there notwithstanding). Four of them could have led a national championship team. One of them did. Aside from that, there's a shitload of difference between a RS-SO and a RS-JR/SR. You can't compare Colt's or VY's or Simms's or Ewer's last year to Arch's first three games. If he's still playing like this in mid-October, then he's not the guy, at least for right now and we had one of those about 25 years ago who ended up winning a title. I'm not saying Arch is going to be VY. I'm only pointing out that VY couldn't beat out Chance fucking Mock, and even when he did he got benched at least twice.
This is his fifth start and his third year in the program. This is not even remotely close to what you are talking about.-

Texas likely finishes ahead of OU in the SEC but crazy to think after 3 games Mateer is an absolute no brainer over Manning. Sark will turn it around in the moneyball era.
Oklahoma is a better football team than Texas right now so I’m not sure how you came to that conclusion.-

Just waking up out of my emotions and . . . . Shit we really boo’d Manning lol. We wild as fuck 😂😂😂
You see I think the fact that a 5 Star QB named Manning having no idea how to throw a football correctly is the wild part.-

I thought benching Arch was fantasy talk but both Inside Texas and OTF podcasts openly talking about Caldwell needing to play.

Anyone wanting to bench this kid is a fucking mongoloid. Trust the process. We aren't losing to UTEP you vaginas.
Does the process involve the QB and offense getting progressively worse?-

Arch, with his feet so wide you would mistake him for playing Twister, missed an easy out to our tight end.

It's hilarious at this point.
Just laugh.
If his name were not Manning, we know Caldwell would be starting the second half. No other coach would put up with this. And the political reality is also part of the laughter through pain.-

This is how you fuck around and lose at home to UTEP.

We have a top 5 defense and a bottom quartile offense. The OC would be on the hot seat if it wasn't the head coach.
Meanwhile after the game our local media will ask Sarkisian what the pregame meal was.
I still cannot reconcile the talent difference between the offensive and defensive line. We have a top 3 defensive line in the country and San Jose St’s offensive line outplayed ours last week. -

He can't make easy throws.
At all.
He is having a complete meltdown. It’s like watching Chuck Knoblach implode in real time. -

The playcalling is really weird at this point. We need the passing game to get in a rhythm but we won't throw until 3rd and long or 4th down.
Sarkisian is making it as hard as possible on himself.
He is stubbornly forcing the run. Although after seeing Arch throw today I’m not sure I would be airing it out right now. -
Holy shit three plays in a row the line executes their assignment in the run game. Progress.
-
Arch has not made an effort to address his poor footwork and mechanics. I wonder if he is even being coached on it? Three straight plays in the red zone:
1st- Arch has horrible footwork and sidearms a quick out that was lucky to get there
2nd- Arch throws off his back foot and misses Wingo on an easy TD
3rd- Arch weirdly throws late over the middle against his body.
He honestly looks like a freshman that just started football recently.

Hey Sark... how come your brilliant playcalling ability falls off a fucking cliff the moment we get inside the opponents 10 yard line?
Well today it’s because we have one of the worst offensive lines in the country. -

i mean... how the fuck is this line pathetic inside the 5 yard line man... come the fuck on
Baker let a player go across his face….on the one yard line. I’m not even sure how that is physically possible. -

“Trying too hard” and “caring or pressing too much” are usually hollow platitudes used to describe shitty play. A holding penalty is usually the result of poor fundamentals or execution resulting in a player being out of position. Not because he simply cares too much.
Tripping and falling down while pulling on a counter at the goal line is just bad footwork and fundamentals. Players just need to practice and be better.

If he continues to lose weight and dedicate himself this offseason, Mitchell can be a 20 snap/rotational guy next year. And that outcome would be remarkable considering he was 99% likely to bust in August.
Man my take there. Wow. Guy just likes food more than football apparently.-

Comparing OL plug and play from the portal to DTs plugging and playing are two different things. Going and getting a good fit at an OL position to mesh with the rest of the group is one thing, going wholesale into the portal is another. Not only would adding 3-5 guys mean a complete retooling of the starting lineup, but also telling 5-7 guys to hit the fucking road, decimating continuity and development of those on campus.
Everyone on this thread is completely overreacting to the OL play for the first two games. The PFF score might not have been great for some of them against Ohio State, but the unit played well enough to win in that game. They played overall poorly against SJSU, but that's also what this 3 game stint is for - playing up a learning curve. We've seen OL play come together year after year with Flood. Christian Jones and the one giant dude who played for just one year as a 5th or 6th year guy and brags on Flood regularly whose name I forget both showed more in a year under Flood than they had in multiple seasons under prior coaching.
I'm fine with expecting another OT in this class and wish it would be a five person instead of a four person class, so maybe they seek one more guy or two in the portal this cycle, we'll see. Turntine is ready to play from a technique perspective on day one. Is he going to be physically ready? Again, we'll see.
I'm also fine with a bunch of mix and match experimenting at C and LG. I just don't think we're doomed at either spot, nor should not adding a transfer last cycle be viewed as an epic fail.
Wingo looks plenty fast on the field. He's gripping and trying to make plays before the ball is secured. If he settles down, he's going to have a big year. The plays are there. That all said, you sound like a fucking idiot with your whines about the guy's speed.
All fair points but I disagree with one thing. Continuity is less important if you simply have bad players. Neto has been in this program how long exactly and we cannot trust him to start at Ohio St? Florida State and Auburn completely retooled their line in one offseason. I mean from the bottom of the league to whipping Alabama’s ass in one offseason from the portal. We did not have to start Stroh and Hutson this year to achieve some mythical continuity award. That was a choice. Hutson will not suddenly become strong halfway through his what fourth year here? Stroh and Neto are just not good enough football players to start at Texas. That is us just simply choosing to settle. And if that means they hit the portal and we lose the continuity, so be it.-

Eh, I think he's pretty accurate in that statement:
https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/schools/texas/2024/gamelog/
UT's Rushing in the following games against "better" opponents:
GA 1: 27 for 29 yards, average 1.1
GA 2: 28 for 31 for, average 1.1
Arizona St: 30 for 53, average 1.8
Ohio State: 29 for 58, average 2.0
"Good" teams we ran the fuck over: Clemson, Michigan, OU, Texas A&M. Except we all know those were not all that fucking great.
We justified our lack of offense against elite defenses in the past as a by product of Ewers not being able to threaten the defense downfield allowing the Georgia’s of the world to run blitz our offense into oblivion. Now we have gone full circle to our expectations of an Arch led Sark offense opening up our run game. Against pretty good defenses Sark could scheme up open shots and enough running plays. But once a defense is good enough to have complete contempt for an aspect of our offense (Georgia passing game Ohio State running game) it was lights out for us.-
