How good is this guy? Is he as good as Trill Carter?

Yeah, it's not. Saying it is doesn't make it so. It has a lower ceiling and a lower floor.
Two day one/two guys and JWhitt is a very good top of the room. Even at the bottom they may be better but who gives a damn about the #5/6/7 guys.
Is it a good WR room? Absolutely. But better than last year? Not a fucking chance.
Not a fucking chance that they can better than last years group? I think they can much better. The third and fourth options now legit dudes who have produced at a high level already.- 1

So if we didn’t return a veteran starter we simply went and bought a veteran starter off a good team? Is that right? Except for safety where we decided to upgrade over current starters.

MidSouthBama already with the horns down. These fucks are going to hate us like Nebraska hates us in 2-3 seasons.
You can already see the timing of NIL and us joining the SEC as the cause for everyone to hate us. Again.- 6

Does this include players that started for other playoff teams that now play for Texas?
We added a starting safety and two starting wide receivers from P5 schools. With the portal the entire “returning starter” stat means so much less than it used to. How many starters are we truly going to be breaking in new? Right tackle, middle linebacker and two tackles?- 1

Is Tulane star chasing, or are they actually loading up with talent?
Ty Thompson was a total bust at Oregon. It’s probably not a terrible strategy at Tulane to star chase to see if one of those guys can live up to their high school rankings but that’s a lot of recruiting busts on that list. -

I do, all the time. It’s objectively less of a headache and when I’m slowed boarding a plane, it is inevitably some dickhead in front of me who is having app problems or forgot to have the phone unlocked or whatever, just stealing seconds off of everyone’s life around them. Check bags in, print boarding passes while doing it, tuck in back pocket, show to Clear or TSA, show to board plane, throw in trash, done. Substance over style and it wins.
Why the fuck are you guys flying commercial in the first place?- 1

I’ll ask here. I feel like there were moments when cook was vocal about under utilized last season. With golden and bond in How does this affect the young guys
Im honestly wondering if we should ever take more than 1-2 receivers in any class unless we want depth for special teams. It seems like the easiest position to acquire quality starting talent.- 1

We really need another DT with the attrition we've had (Sweat/Murphy going pro, Carter transferring, and Ross off the team). A one-year rental like Caldwell would've been perfect to bridge the gap. Gotta get a DL coach and hope another quality guy (hopefully one of the Bama DL) jumps in.
I don’t think Ross was ever part of the equation so I doubt his departure has much to do with needing another player. Carter was supposed to be the guy we brought in to help us post Sweat/Murphy. That one not panning out hurts. -

Losing out on Jamaree Caldwell sucks but is not the end of the world. I assume Sark will go after another guy, but if he doesn’t, that’s fine.
Alfred Collins, Sydir Mitchell, Vernon Broughton, Aaron Butler, Jaray Bledsoe are all big, talented guys that were all in the lab with Bo Davis the last 1-2-3 years. Sark will hire a DL coach that should further develop their talent. Texas should be better on the edges and in coverage next year with their mix of young and experienced talent coming in. Both facets will allow the Horns to rely less on interior pressure.
Players develop. Texas has shown that statement to be especially true since Sark arrived. Texas will be mean on the defensive line next year because they’ve shown no reason why they shouldn’t be.
Aaron Bryant got some PT in 22 and we didn’t even see him this year? I thought he looked promising in limited snaps. If we don’t land another portal DT we are probably banking on one of the true freshman to be in the 4-5 man rotation. -

Way to mix metaphors to not make any fucking sense. I’m sure that sounded better in your head.- 5

That’s the trick to get easy rep on this site. All you have to do is lean into the one sided view there and you can quickly accumulate rep. It makes Surly vulnerable to trolling which is why I wish you couldn’t earn rep in the CR.- 13

I’d tap the brakes with that sort of unbridled optimism. They have the potential to match, but significantly less skins on the wall heading into 2024.
Golden and Bond are not “potential”. Unless your definition of potential is just that they haven’t don’t it in a Texas uniform yet.- 3

So for the poster who wondered if we would ever field a three receiver group as good as this year- the answer is yes. Next year we will have a top three to match or exceed 2023.

That's weird. I don't see any discussion of budgets, government, anything like that. You don't just get to cry "politics" and the opinions you disagree and threads you don't like magically go away.
There was a fucking Ben Shapiro tweet on gender on this thread. Take this abortion to the politics board.- 2

There is a difference in saying there are no 1:1 replacements for Sweat or Murphy and saying we shouldn’t just take a guy because we need depth. I’d rather throw a talented freshman to the fire before doing that. What is the general view of the Arizona guy?
