The West Mall stopped welcoming free speech, and built stuff to inhibit it, long before any of us got there.I’m not a constitutional attorney and I don’t know shit about fuck regarding politics.
As well, I’m not a savant on geography a la Michael Jordan. With that being said, if students wanted to organize a protest, debate, et al, with big crowds… couldn’t they walk about 35 yards and recreate what “they did in the 60s”… in the South Mall? I may be wrong, but I am pretty sure it’s a lot bigger and can hold more folk.
Heck, you can get a good picture from Littlefield Fountain if you fill it all the way to the street.
As I said, maybe I am wrong and my tin hat isn’t fitting properly (do I PM Derka to get a new one or where do I send my $9.95?)… but if creating 3-4 areas with trees… decreases or limits free speech on campus…C’moooooooooooooon man.

Those carts rocked. Ground up pickled jalapeño for hot sauce all over the rice. Gott damn a man could live large on a handful of change.
Cart by PCL / undergrad business was my daily
Man, we had the world by the short and curlies back then… and within budget.
Dont even get me started on the $.59, $.79, $.99 menu at Taco Bell. 3 hard tacos, a bean and cheese burrito no sauce no onion, a tostada/chalupa and a nachos all for under $5.
Later that evening invite over that good looking Harlingen chica from E316 class, who was at Tejano night last Thursday at the Union. You know the one. Cute face, little waist and thiccer than a 32 oz jar of cold Peter Pan peanut butter.
Order some Pizza Classics. $4.99 large pepperoni, so she can have some eats. And wash it down with some Boone’s Farm. Fuzzy Navel and Blue Hawaiian, $1.12 each, providing the social lubrication. You’re all in for around $7.50. Nothing left but to play some Bus Driver with the remaining alcohol and work on your spit game and seduction techniques, whilst a Jodeci Forever My Lady CD is providing the background.
Memory lane on the 40 doesn’t involve West Mall pseudo-intellectual, sophomoric cacophonous babble, by dudes in Red Wing boots.
Was too busy trying to do my best mestizo Wilt Chamberlain-Genghis Khan impersonation.Different strokes for different folks. Priorities man. Priorities.

If we pulled a Russia in Iraq how are we any different? We massively succeeded followed by a really stupid and extended insurgency - we staged a false flag, spied on them did everything wrong there and somehow we are just gonna pretend that we are somehow "different" than Russia? The entire global community condemned us for it and we did it anyway (with a few allies). The only difference is the results. Russia lost (there is no winning from where they are) and history will not be kind to them. We won and history is neutral at best to us.I'm not defending Saddam and his shit ass regime who was committing all kinds of atrocities and destabilizing the region, but the parallels are there. We of course did far less intentional killing of civilians and their infra, but it sure as fuck happened.
Stop glorifying this shit or putting it on some weird fascination with national identity. We are all humans and the animalistic side of humans crave war, its up to the cognitive humans to prevent it.

His psycho rant about cleansing the fifth column was telling. He's lost his marbles. I don't think there's a way out for him Except China, and they seem to be baiting him pretty hard.
Would you say the Chinese are masters at the baiting?
Maybe it’s an ancient Chinese secret…

OSU wouldn't have needed to run the conference tournament to make the NCAA's had they been eligible.
You know they were 15-15, right?
This has to be a joke.
If not, please let us know what you are drinking and/or smoking. I may need to switch liquors and/or strains.- 1

Okie State is likely a better team than Viriginia Tech.
Bruh. I appreciate the discussion. But make sure you give Fonzi his jacket back after you jumped that shark.
The spread is 1 for a 6/11 matchup. Maybe the folks in the desert know something about basketball.
The number of your seed MAY not be indicative of how strong you are or how you match up with the team you’re playing.
It ain’t the only one. Friars are only a 2’ fave against SDSU. That’s a 4/13 match up. Vegas has big hotels/casinos for a reason.
Save me that some of that Cheech strain my good sir.

Daisy chaining games and using transitive axioms are not going to matter.
There are 4-5 teams, other than the obvious like Zags, KU and Zona, no one wants to face right now as they are very hot and/or playing very good ball.
We got a bad draw with one of them.
The others are: Iowa, UCLA, Tenn, UH.
All of those got screwed with seeding too. That just tells me that the committee made it up its mind last week.

VT (116th of 358) and likely Purdue (215th) don't play defense the way the Big 12 does. Meaning our offense might not be horrible. The average Big 12 defense was 74.9, with KSU and WVU killing that average at 150 and 190 respectively. The closest Big 12 team that made the tournament in regards to defense was Kansas at 90.
Only us (6th) and TTU (11th), of Big 12 teams, give up less PPG than VT (22nd) in the nation. And if you have watched them play this year, you would know they play some mean D.
Mike Young can coach. This will be a tough game. We got a shitty draw.- 1

ACC is ass this year. Duke as a 2 and Tenn as a 3? C’mon man. Aub as a 2? No sir. Tenn got screwed by the seeding.
A&M got that shaft. I ain’t mad though because reasons. You hate to see it…Duke always gets an easy path. I hope Davidson shows them what’s up. Duke can lick my balls.

Have friends in Erbil.
They fired missiles at camps claiming to be affiliated with Israel. Am told this is in response for killing Iranian soldiers.

By just glancing, there’s some data points that don’t pass the smell test and defy plain common sense.
ABQ. As folk have already said. I bet a 5 lb bag of green Hatch chile and a meal of chicharrones at Barela’s coffeehouse … that has 0% chance of being accurate.
Frederick MD? … but not Alexandria, VA, which I believe is at least twice the size and twice as nice. Does the list even Bethesda bro?
I could go on, but that obviously has to be clickbait or really shitty journalism/research.

Trying to predict what Pinche Putin is going to do is just mental masturbation.
No one knows… as many stated 350+ pages ago, before the invasion. He’s a sociopath. Many have said that he doesn’t even know… Which is probably true.
It’s almost like dealing a mentally unstable jilted ex-lover/significant other that you just broke up with. But on steroids and blown up exponentially.
He could boil a bunny, go full gone girl or do something similar of what I’ve read on the divorce thread.
Predicting sociopathic behavior is extremely difficult. No one knows.
Let’s just hope for humanity, this situation ends as soon as possible.- 1

As someone who has been on a flight with him, he was first to board (I was probably tenth) and by the time I was on the plane he had his headphones in and was watching a tv show on his tablet. No interaction with anyone. No one hugged him.Co-signed. You sir are correct.
Not sure why anyone would lie about something that is easily debunked, as planes have a lot of folk on them.
As someone who has been on quite a few flights with him and sitting next to him from IAH-DCA… and back… I’ve never seen anyone come up to him, much less crew.Crew will come by and thank folk. But they are usually FFs that are 1k and PP.
His modus operandi once on a plane is to get on his tablet and watch a show or be on his phone.

A retired Marine general caused a lot of controversy several years back. The navy brought him in to do a red vs blue. He swarmed attack the carrier in the strait of Hormuz. Overwhelmed them prettt quick. They made him change tactics. He swarmed attacked them again from land. They made him change tactics again so he walked out and called bullshit. No one in the Navy thinks a carrier is sinkable until one sinks. And when that happens I hope they put the SecNAv and every single admiral on display at the Navy yard and have the President execute them.
Was it Gen. John Murray? If it wasn’t (as that sounds like something he would do/say)… do you recall who it was?
If I recall correctly, he’s Army not a Marine.

Is the West Mall still a place where all speech is welcome?

I can respect that my good man.
When MEChA, ALAS “Chingadas” (as some of us called them) and HBSA organized a rally, protest and walk regarding Hopwood, I was on campus. I believe the year was 92 or 93. I’m old and my memory is decrepit.
We did our thang on West Mall and walked to the office of Dan Morales (FTP) en masse and had some choice words for him as well.
Was it as big as Vietnam protests on campus? Most likely, no. There were only a couple of hundred of us. 250-300 or so, if I was a betting man.
(That was also the number of us that would go to Palmeras on Thursdays and do the macarena.)
If folk/students know how to organize, they can do it wherever, whenever. Platform/media is different now. It’s mostly digital. It’s no longer the Roman Senate style.
I appreciate the discourse hermano.
