Believe their best pitcher is still to play. Guessing they throw him for the 7 inn game tomorrow, so we probably match him up with Stevens. Then plan for 4-5 from Gordon and the rest all staff for the final game.
-
Honestly though, why are we bunting EK there. Trust your 2 hitter Pierce.

Pretty much assume every SB gets a review

HODO!!

Wth is going on? Is Faltine being obnoxious or is SC hassling us for nothing
-
No reason for Messinger to be in front of Faltine

HAHAHAH he's JAG. He needs to sit, we have to have another bat on the bench that get the ball out of the infield. He's the same player as he was last year. Nice guy, team guy, has a little speed but jeebus he couldn't hit the broadside of a barn with a bass fiddle.
The harsh truth is that we don’t. Kash and O’Dowd were the only alternatives - Pierce was loath to play them and we’ve seen some sign of why. Good news is that Campbell is still serviceable; he walks a lot and doesn’t strike out an insane amount. His BABIP should improve and if he can improve at all I think he’ll be ok. The real disappointment is Messinger imo. Him showing nothing and losing Todd (who admittedly wasn’t setting the world on fire himself) is going to test us. -
It’s also just modern baseball. TJ is common even a couple years after HS. Multiple used to be a death sentence but will likely end up the norm. Guys throw more, harder, and more breaking at a younger age. Arkansas and MS State both lost stud starters for the year too.

That sucks.

Hmmm you’re right, there is “some skill involved from our pitchers to get out of these jams”. That’s why they’re here and not Texas southern. “BUT LUCK!!!” Yeah. There’s luck in baseball. Weird how more talented teams like, say, Texas, are luckier than say Alabama or Texas state. Throw strikes? Have you been watching this season or did you just tune in tonight? We average like less than 3 walks a game. We throw plenty of fucking strikes. So what’s your point here? That we may have to deal with a few 2 on no out situations throughout the year and that may cause some trouble? So no yeah you actually do make it sound like you expect Kerry Wood level shit every game
We’re allowing more baserunners and ER the last four games (1.6/IP and 3.5 ERA v 0.9/IP and 0.7 ERA) than previously. But thats against much tougher competition and our ERA isn’t bad over those four. Not worried about it now. -
Pulled out a win in a loud environment with multiple setbacks and coming off our first loss. Faltine is right, these guys are tough. Same thing as last year; we may put ourselves in shitty situations, but when it comes down to it this team doesn’t blink.
That’s what’s going to make us so dangerous down the stretch.- 2

Thinking Faltine should move up the lineup at least above Messinger

Is LSU the top team in the SEC West this year? Mississippi State and Arkansas don't look good early. Aggy is aggy. Auburn is 10-2, but outside of a 2-1 win over Texas Tech, not much to them. Our pitching schooled Alabama. Ole Miss??
Ole Miss is getting love in the polls but their non-con schedule looks laughable. Charleston South, VCU, ULM, and UCF? Won’t be shocked if they’re dangerous but reserving judgment for now. Can see LSU being dangerous this season. Bet we haven’t seen the last of them. -
3-6 baserunners in an inning might be the root cause.
Not to mention the pitchers motion taking long enough the bag is swiped by the time the catcher has the ball. How do you miss that as a coach -
6 SB in an inning? Gotta figure that out Tenn lol
-
Landon Sims pulled in the 4th. Hope he’s alright and we get a proper revenge matchup in Omaha.

Ivan you beautiful beast you!!

Pierce is really giving a lot of leeway here, or just loves is handed matchups
-
Really committed to matching them here

What a gift - lets dig it in further

Good game Pete. Not the cleanest outing, but he got it done. Lets get something going

Only skew is I think Stehly’s BABIP is like 200 points higher than Campbell right now. Best guess is that Campbell walks more but Stehly has better power. I favor Stehly but think they’ll both do well
