It’s like WV put everything into winning set 1, and collapsed after a couple of plays didn’t go their way.
-
Slightly off-topic and probably discussed elsewhere: no band tonight or tomorrow night due to COVID protocols. (No band in Ft Worth on Sat either)
-
But you can only play to 15 in set 5 because reasons.
“Must win by 2”. Every time TV announcers say it -
Washington St (home) beat #6 Washington in five sets. Washington held off match points in set 4 and won that set, 46-44. Wow! Wash St was pretty resilient to come back from losing that long 4th set to win the match.

This L’vile squad is so good. Just swept Corn in Lincoln
Yes, they are scary good. -
I loved Jhenna with the Hook ‘em at the milkmen as they walked off the court.

B1G teams don’t care for Texas. Corn, Minny, Wisky, PSU. TOSU fans don’t like Texas
If it were football at the Shoe, I’d agree. For volleyball, I’ll take Columbus for a FF any day over Omaha. -
Columbus will be rocking and very anti-Texas if we get to the FF.
Any reason in particular? Maybe if Corn is there. I don’t see tOSU fans caring much. -
Skylar’s turn for an off day.
Reverse jinx, I hope -
WTF with these letdowns!! ND served tough at the end but still…
-
Logan really on today, especially compared to Friday.
Skylar’s turn for an off day. -
Logan was way off tonight. Also, something feels wrong with Brionne so far this season.
-
Body language from the team is totally off. I hope losing the set wakes them up.
-
I didn’t see the whole match. Did the 6-2 make an appearance?
-
Once our serve zeroed in on Baird, she wilted. Hambly didn’t sub and left her in the bad row. It was pretty much over then (except for the mental lapse at the end of the 3rd.) I guess he figured give her the experience in a tough match in “preseason”, or his alternatives were worse.
Still, a nice win! Always good to beat Tree.- 2

I don’t know your age but Austin Sports and Social is pretty good if you are younger.
Thanks for the suggestion. I’m very much middle-aged (physically), so a mixed age group would be ideal. -
No, Dallas.
Damn. Hoping it was Austin. Moved back here just in time for COVID. Would like to find a volleyball league like that just to get out and about again.- 1

I play in an old-man volleyball "league," with players ranging from 30s to actually 80-something. A lot of the oldsters seem to be fond of pickleball. I need to check it out sometime.
This league in Austin? -
Definitely better than the wet farts the last few years.
The other thing the "doomsayers" (i.e. me) have to admit is that when a team falters and loses, it's almost always going to look like we do when we lose. The system breaks down. passing, defense, bad sets, blocked attacks, the centre cannot hold, the falcon cannot hear the falconer.
We didn't lose this one solely because of poorer back row play. UK was a better, better balanced team and their setter was the core of it. I might suspect that Curry didn't get tons of national love because SEC, but she was about the equal of Barnes.
I am optimistic that JE gets it, at least more than he has in the past.
I'm invested in this sport more than football, and even baseball. I woke up this morning feeling bummed like I did after my hs teams lost big games, and like I used to after football games.
This, although I’m actually not as grumpy this year as in years past. Not playing the “what if”s in my mind as much. The back row could have been better, but the quick and loaded UK hitters had a lot to do with that too.
Would love to see a stat on block touches from this match compared to others. The back row aren’t used to seeing untouched missiles sent their way all night.
Also interesting to see someone else say they are invested in volleyball more than football. Been like that for me for some time now.- 2

There's been some talk about finding a place for him.
This is the kind of thing where CDC earns his money.
Even if we don't keep Morrison, maybe someone else can be found. The JE/Sullivan combo for back row hasn't gotten it done, for sure.
Wow, that would be fantastic! Hope CDC can pull it off. -
Why would Morrison stick around as a volunteer coach?
Not saying he will stick around. Just wishful thinking and fantasizing. Look at what he did to improve the serve receive and passing after 3 months. -
The same issues every year - serve receive and ball control/back row play. Without fail. But:
2009 we ran into the PSU dynasty
2016 was the start of the Stanford run
2015/2021 just sucked.
2012 was great but we got lucky the best setter in volleyball got hurt in the FF against Oregon and they lost
Agree. I don’t think our serve/receive in this year’s tournament was as bad as some years though. Stumbler was unstoppable. We didn’t get a lot of block touches that the back row is used to. -
Doesn't seem that will change about Elliott. Just have to live with it. It would be hard to justify replacing him as the coach.
I think it’s changing. Can you imagine 6 months or a full year with Morrison? -
So was this year just because we were young or is there just something about Elliott where he’s good enough to get to the FF/NC but for some reason just can’t close?
I don’t think we had major weaknesses this year. We had a very good team. UK was just the better team this year.
