Apologies if this is duplicate...but felt the need to share. This is a great opportunity to volunteer, and get a vaccine. My wife and I both did this last week and they work you pretty hard. It's clear to me that they could not distribute the 3k vaccines daily without the ~100 volunteers...and as an added gesture, they give the volunteers a shot to reward the hard work and to keep the machine going.

If you can make the time, I highly recommend it. They release each week's available signup on Saturdays at 5pm. If interested, you need to be online at 4:55 and refreshing at a rapid pace. I think we saw the week's slots go in about 4-5 minutes last week. Good luck, Surly.

That sounds more like bartering than volunteering.

I refresh the main page and it will show appointments here and there anywhere from "8 spots left" or "only a few spots left".  But you click on the link and it says no appointments.  I understand that shit goes fast, but then I go back and the spots are still there.   So who knows.

    Yep. Been there.

Page 1 is main scheduler page. If you see a location you like with available slots, click it.
Page 2 is the date/time selector. Most of the time it says "There are no available time slots" by the time you get here. If you CAN select a date/time, you move on to..
Page 3 where you actually get to enter your name, phone#, email, age, etc. It asks for your insurance info, but you can skip that if you don't have it handy. There's a 10 minute countdown clock to complete this page. When you're done here, you have a confirmed appointment.

I've had Page 1 on auto-refresh every 13 seconds for the past 4-5 hours. No big blocks of appointments are coming though today, at least not yet. Seems like the slots popping up today are cancellations of earlier scheduled appointments. Slots are gone is seconds. Most of the time, by the time you get through to Page 2 it's already booked. Other times, it tells you to select a time/date, but even then, it's already gone before you can finish. If you can get to Page 3, you are golden.

I scored one appointment for a friend today. Gulfgate HEB in Houston.

These one off appointments are literally gone in a matter of seconds.

    Lol, no latin americans?

I'm no demographer, but I assume they are counted in this line: "About 7.24% of the population were Hispanic or Latinos of any race."

  4. Update: the website monitoring software works!!! I have an appointment for the Moderna vaccine at 11 AM tomorrow at the HEB Pharmacy in Seguin.

The HEB website was changed about 10:15 AM for some slots in Cleburne. I was away from my phone. Gone in under 5 minutes.

The site changed again about 12:35 PM. I was there within 10 seconds of getting my notification (up to 5 minutes delayed). Said there were 18 slots open in Seguin. Clicked the link. GONE. Shit. Site changed back to no appointments 5 minutes later. Five minutes after that, Seguin opened up again with "a few slots remaining". This time: success.

Masks are forever people. Didn't you get the memo? There will be a new strain we have to worry about by summer time. After that masks will be mandatory to save olds from the flu every winter. After that...

  6. 75+ and teachers were in the CDC's recommendation for Phase 1B. Abbott is such a pandemic/vaccine/logistics expert he decided 65+ and fatties should be in Phase 1B as well. That's a big part of the problem. Phase 1B in Texas is too big.

  7. Looks like HEB has changed their MO. No longer pre-announcing when their reservation system will open. Now they say they will "open new appointment times immediately when our stores receive vaccine". So I guess that means I have to sit here and refresh the scheduler page constantly until some slots magically appear.

Separately, the City of Houston scheduling portal seems to be shut down for the foreseeable future. Too many fast fingered crackers scooping up all the available slots five minutes after they get announced. City is now redirecting vaccine to other channels to better serve the technologically challenged among us.

I'm the Harris County lottery now too, but so are a lot of others.

Bernard how did you get her signed up?  We're in Austin but willing to travel.  Thanks for any info you can provide.

    1. Download Everbridge app
    2. Sign up for HoustonAlerts
    3. Sign up for HoustonRecovers
    4. Make sure your phone is set to allow push notifications from the app. This is the fastest way to get the alert. Other options are text and email, but they are slower and appointments go FAST. 1,600 appointments were snapped up in a couple minutes on Friday.

agree that creating a higher priority for friends and family goes against the spirit of the program even all of them are 75+.

The providers are happy to let some people move to the front of the line. It’s official policy, not just an rogue employee. Just about the time I secured my mom’s appointment via the City of Houston alert map, a doc I know at a local hospital sent me a link for friends and family to sign up for the vaccine. The link included a definition of “immediate family” that I didn’t fit, but he insisted I could sign up that way anyway.

  10. Eat shit, HEB!!!!! I got my mom a vaccine appointment via City of Houston at Delmar Stadium drive through site for for Tuesday 1/26. 🙂

Signed up for alerts from Everbridge app; subcategory HoustonAlerts; subcategory HoustonRecovers or some such shit... I’m kinda drunk now. 🙂

App alerted me at 4PM today about 1,600 vaccination slots open for next week. I slammed my brakes and stopped on the shoulder of I-45 S near Beltway 8. Greenspoint, represent!!!!  A few taps later, appointment confirmed. A few moments later, all 1,600 slots were filled.

At current 7 day average vaccination rates, Texas will cross 50% of the over 16 population on July 21st and 100% next January 18th.  Believe it or not, that's progress.  About ten days ago, the 100% date was in June 2022.

When do we get all Americans over 65 vaccinated? At that point the number of deaths should drop by 80%.

  12. Failed again.

I was refreshing my browser fast and furiously just before 9 AM. At a bout 8:59:20 (per time.is) the "not accepting appointments for Phase 1b" notice changed to "Check Availability" link.

I clicked on that link and the scheduler page appeared, but it said "no appointments available". I refreshed that page constantly for five minutes but nothing changed. Frustrated, I stopped refreshing for a minute or two. Then refreshed again to see 42 slots available at one location and 35(?) slots available at another location. Clicked both of those links and was told no appointments available. 😞

More signups open in morning for Arkansas pass and Portland.

I'll be refreshing my browser at 9AM.

$500 bounty to any fast fingered Surly who can get through the HEB portal on my behalf. If you care to participate, PM me for my phone number, if you get though at 9:00:01 AM, you can call me and I'll give you whatever deets you need to enter in their system. First caller wins.

seems like the best way to get a vaccine is to be mobile and a flexible enough schedule to drop everything and rush over to a different town that has a handful of shots.

I'm ready. I'd have my mom in a car in 30 minutes and I'd drive her anywhere in Texas (or farther) if I knew a vaccine was waiting for our arrival. The question is how to find out where it's actually available.

The appointments for the 400 doses available at HEB in Wharton were gone in <30 seconds this AM.
