I had flipped over to BBall game and flipped back right when OT was starting, but did we actually choose to defend on that side of the field?? (Maybe there weren't any fans on other end either at that point in OT... don't know)

This was the crowd just before the end of regulation. Pretty sparse all around.  Sadly, this was also the loudest the stadium had been all night.

Seriously... If they wanted to do something then why not close it off like a continuous horseshoe. If there wasn't enough seat demand for that then leave it the fuck alone and spend the money elsewhere. It was a stupid concept from the start and a reflection of our dipshit decision makers

Anyone who voted to approve this eye sore should be banned from the spectator sports industry for life.

Take poll of any person who has ever attended a college football game or even seen one on TV and ask them which is better…

  3. Here’s the premise of the movie they were shooting…

Harland Rust is an outlaw with a bounty on his head. When his thirteen-year-old grandson Lucas is convicted of accidental murder and sentenced to hang, Rust travels to Kansas to break him out of prison. Together, the two fugitives must outrun the legendary U.S. Marshal Wood Helm and bounty-hunter Fenton "Preacher" Lang.” — per Wikipedia

The Heights neighborhood, in Houston, is packed with outstanding barbecue joints, but Truth (which opened its first outlet in Brenham in 2015) is transcendent.

Memo to Texas Monthly, Truth BBQ is NOT located in The Heights.

Nice to see them at #2 though.

Probably cheaper and less headache to just rent a place for 2 months in the summer.

That’s what I said in the summer of 2011 while leasing a studio apartment two blocks off Main St. in Frisco, Colorado for $800/month. At the time, studio condos at the nearby Cedar Lodge Condominiums were selling for $100,000 to $110,000. Why bother buying? Now that same apartment is renting for $1,500/month (saw it on Craigslist last week) and the condos are selling for $425,000. #shouldhaveboughtone

OP just go ahead and buy the most expensive house you can possibly stomach. You’re going to lease it out most of time anyway. Think of it as an investment, not an expense. The only actual expense is the opportunity cost you incur when you occupy it yourself.

  6. In my time and place (SW Houston 1987), gap year meant you weren’t quite sure what you wanted to do in life and your parents weren’t giving you a blank check for college so you took a year off and waited tables and partied while a good portion of your peer group went off to college. Then a year or so later you realized your HS diploma wasn’t going to get you where you wanted to go in life, so you had to figure out some way to continue your education, likely in a degree program that leads directly to some kind of employment. I know a handful of these people and they all turned out fine.

Every year for the past whatever…we buy $400 in tickets on the way out the evening of the game, so we don’t have to waste time standing in line the next year.

Lines are for suckers. I walk up the 2nd person in line. Hand him an stack of cash. Tell him to buy me some tickets and keep $20 for himself.

  8. Residential property taxes in China are zero. It makes it really easy for people to buy and hold real estate, even if it’s producing no income. Say what you want about property taxes in the USA, but at least they are a nudge toward keeping property productive, and a disincentive to build unneeded buildings. That being said, a zero property tax rate is a sure fire way to stimulate construction industry jobs.

Only issue not brought up is if your current place will hold this against you and think you aren’t a team player

My understanding is that CTH does not currently work for either Company A or Company B. These are two new companies making offers. If Company B is his current employer, that changes everything.

It's "all business" to them and should be for you.

This. You didn’t agree to marry them. All jobs are subject to either party changing their mind at any time. Don’t feel the least but bad for quitting after 5 years, 5 months, 5 days or even -5 days. You didn’t mislead them. You made a decision based on all information available at the time. Now circumstances have changed. All you owe them is honesty.
