  1. So before we begin, I am not ranking TE as a skill position due to there being different types of them from all-around where they have no real weakness as a player at the position due to it being a scarcity and unicorn (George Kittle, Travis Kelce, Mark Andrews, Brock Bowers,TJ Hockenson, Antonio Gates, Tony Gonzalez, Jason Witten, Shannon Sharpe, you get the gist), blocking (Spencer Shannon), receiving but trouble with blocking (Ja'Tavion Sanders; Gunnar Helm), or unknown due to age and how they grow into the position (Jordan Washington - can catch, blocking is to be expected...a weak point). Great, so Oregon has Da'Juan Riggs, a three-star RB, #56 RB, and #747 overall, Jeremiah McClellan, top-100 recruit, #18 WR, and #86 overall, Ryan Pellum, not with the team, but we'll add him was top-250, #36 WR, and #219 overall, Dillon Gresham who was the #58 WR, and #407 overall, along with Jack Ressler, a three-star and the #139 WR with N/A for overall ranking. I was wrong that if you're above a top-100 recruit, you should play, amirite? Surely you don't mean that four-star = no RS, right? I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say you aren't daft and know what I meant when I said no RS; meaning top-50-75 level recruits should see some playing time due to them coming out as one of the most highly touted players in their class. Does that mean ALL players? Of course not. But being that highly rated usually means they should be seeing the field year one at some capacity, even if for 2-3 snaps a game. Arian Smith was between top-50 to top-100 recruit, he was #44 247, #80 On3, #64 for ESPN, but regardless, you went back to 2019 to get his information. A single player. Good on you, man.- irrelevant for something 7 years ago for a single player, not putting me in my place by listing 5+ names of highly rated guys taking a RS. Bowens was a three-star according to 247, and I can't find a composite. We aren't going to just randomly pick whatever site fits your narrative, and since 247 does the composites for all sites, we're using their ranking. But if you want to just say 'well, ESPN and On3 have him as a four-star,' that would make the composite useless, wouldn't it? Obviously as a three-star he needed the RS, and no, he's not the team's leading rusher, that would be Nate Frazier, who didn't RS. He was a top-75 recruit and he split carries with Trevor Etienne, making him a co-starter as a freshman. Henderson was a top-150 prospect per 247 composite, and the #15 RB, which again, does not disprove anything. He's clearly not at a stage where he can even be trusted to spell their literal only RB, Jeremiah Cobb. After Cobb, it's two QBs, Arnold and Ashton Daniels before we get to another RB, Damari Alston, who has 3 more carries and 6 more yards rushing as a senior than James Simon, a freshman. So let's see how those stack up - For Texas and Oregon, pretty similarly, actually. Both have mostly all three-star skill guys with Texas having the edge with five-star Wingo ranked #32, but didn't RS, and Jerrick Gibson #79 had to play out of necessity due to injury, while Butler ranked #122 and did RS. McClellan was ranked #86, while everyone else was a very low four-star (Gresham), or a three-star, so those guys tend to RS since they aren't top-50-ish guys who usually play. For example - all guys in the top-75 in last two classes UF: DJ Lagway #1 QB #3 overall - played and got hurt Dallas Wilson #8 WR #50 overall - played until he broke his right foot Vernell Brown III #5 WR #35 overall - playing currently UGA: Nate Frazier #2 RB #71 overall - co-starter with Travis Etienne until this year (only skill pos player in top-100) Talyn Taylor #6 WR #40 overall - has been part of 3 games this season (this is how you prove me wrong). RS candidate due to WR room being senior heavy AGS: Jerome Myles #3 WR #19 overall - injured for season Terry Bussey #1 ATH #16 overall - played all year fOSU: Jeremiah Smith #1 WR #1 overall - we all know Mylan Graham - talked about above Quincy Porter - still playing, albeit sparingly. Might RS Clem: Gideon Davidson #3 RB #69 overall - has played in all games TJ Moore #4 WR #21 overall - played all games Bryant Wesco Jr #11 WR #57 overall - played all games You get the point. You aren't a dullard, you just want to argue for the sake of arguing. I don't need to keep going school by school to prove higher rated skill prospects (top-75) outside of an outlier or two get playing time at high-level CFB programs, whether they're immediate contributors or only get a few snaps a game. Sark is stubborn and has some fascination with a "trust tree" that apparently only we seem to use considering no other program seems to have any issues getting their higher rated skill guys game opportunities, regardless of quarter. They seem to grasp that if they want this kid to learn they need real time, against real competition during conference play. Peer to peer, not 1s vs 3s in practice shit. It doesn't matter if it's 2 snaps or 60 snaps a game.
  2. Atascocita has been good for OL, so I think Kibble will be good. He's just behind Campbell right now since he's a natural RG.
  3. I see that more as hope than reality, unless he wants to start at a G5 school (nothing wrong with that, but it takes a special coach to win there). I think Klein will be at aggy for another 2-3 years before he finds a landing spot, assuming he wants to be a HC (not all coordinators want that responsibility. See PK). I hope he's gone next year, but I see it as unlikely since Reed will be back, but I can also see him bail since his cowbell RB Moss will be gone, Owens sucks bacteria leaking from a swollen prostate, and I don't know who else they have. Concepcion is gone, but Craver will be back, and I assume Jerome Myles will be healthy (I don't know if he'll be good, much like Owens was a five-star and sucks), and Kiotti Armstrong, who has great hands, and Kelshaun Johnson will have a more expanded role. They have Brandon Arrington (five-star ATH) coming in Jan, but I'm not sure if they'll play him at WR or CB (kind of like Jermaine Bishop for us, but I think they said he'll play DB?), and Aaron Gregory. KJ Edwards will be there, but I don't personally see him making an impact in year one. I can see their other RB, Hatton being really good. They lose good players, but also have some good ones coming in, albeit young.
  4. Admittedly, I did go pretty fast because I had like 8 schools, so that's on me. I already wrote about my miss on Mylan Graham, but he was a four-star when I looked him up. Regardless, what matters is you are right and I am wrong. I don't know who Sam Dixon is, tbh, or Noah Rogers. I didn't see them, so again, that's on me. But that doesn't disprove my initial post regarding playing guys to get up to speed, reps, game environment, etc. You can't simulate those no matter how many amps and speakers you have. They don't need catches like Smith, Tate, Wesco Jr, Coleman because those guys are either truly special generational (Smith) or just really good AND they have no real competition ahead of them to start. They just need 2-3 reps per game to get a feel and go peer to peer and improve route running, blocking, moving the DB/S away from the intended WR, be a good teammate. So it's a win-win for them. Think Xavier Worthy against Casey Cain or Jaden Alexis. If we had good WR's, Worthy may have been a RS or saw minnimal action, but we'll never know so it's moot. We have been fortunate enough to have balled out in the portal. Adonai Mitchell, Matthew Golden, Emmitt Mosley V to go with good WR's like Whittington, Worthy, and Sanders. It was dire when we had to settle for Aijye Hall, Milton, and Jahleel Billingsley to go with Worthy, Cain, Milton, Brenen Thompson, and Omerie.
  5. I looked up Mylan Graham, but looking at his controbutions, they're miniscule. He has 2 RB's and 3 TEs and 3 WR's (three studs, so hardly his fault) with more receptions and yards. That's Ryan Niblett reception numbers. I'm not going to say he won't be a good player, and since you found he was a composite five-star, I'll admit I was wrong on that one. But in my defense, as you can see below the composite didn't show up for me, so I dunno. This is what popped up for me when I looked him up as a recruit. It didn't have composite for whatever reason. Clearly I was wrong, and I admit that. But one player doesn't disprove my findings other than one player was a RS, while everyone else was not. I'm not moving goalposts, I'm pointing out a pattern, and I missed on a player, which I admit to. Also, it's mostly offensive players, but there are defensive players like Melvin Hills, Ty'Anthony Smith (I think?), etc. Since Sarkisian became coach: For comparison (offensive players only, since that's his forté), Texas redshirted or is in the process of redshirting 2025: Kaliq Lockett (#2 WR behind Dakorian Moore, unless something happens) Jaime Ffrench (see above) Michael Terry (see above) Nick Townsend (see above) Emaree Winston (Same) James Simon (same) Rickey Stewart Jr (needs muscle, possible transfer candidate) Only Daylon McCutcheon isn't a RS, and he has 6 catches for 70 yards (7 attempts, and he dropped a bad throw). A little under used considering we've seen what he an do with the ball in his hands. He's electric. So I don't understand why RS-ing would or should be done. They can all be rotated with Wingo and Livingstone for like 2-3 plays a game (Lockett), Moore Jr (Ffrench, McCutcheon), Michael Terry is a Swiss Army Knife who has good to great hands, and has played QB, WR, RB (which would be nice since Baxter lost his speed), same with Simon to move to Z or slot as a change of pace with his speed and cutting ability on the outside, Townsend is a freak who has played RB, TE, WR, can catch and since Endries has some issues there, why not get him involved at times? Obviously Washington is the "guy" since he can catch,so if Endries is having a shit day, plug in Townsend for 3 plays. Watson has absolutely great hands, but he's small for a TE. I understand his RS since I can't think of what to do with bin. 2024: Heavy defensive class Only Wingo didn't RS because we didn't have a true 'X', we just had Bond and Golden (who both played X and Z) who were ahead of Wingo, and Sark split Bond, Golden, and Blue out to the 'X' (blue way less so, but on occasions), so Wingo had to be there for rotation due to not having anyone else with a pulse unless you want go count Cook (who played sparingly with his invisible hands), Bolden (rarely), Davis (as a flex TE, but more as a blocker), Niblack (who had a total of 5 catches for 33 yards, and I'm sure he missed probably 10 balls thrown his way). Parker Livingstone Jordan Washington Christian Clark (achilles tear, but would have RS anyway) Aaron Butler Freddie Dubose (gone) Michael Kern (gone) Only Wingo and Gibson played because we had one healthy RB, Wisner, and our transfer back now has one good eye. Baxter tore every ligament from his knee to his neck, apparently. 2023: Heavy OL class Ryan Niblett Deandre Moore Jr Will Randle 2022: All players had to play out of necessity because Herman left no one. The best OL class we've had and a ton of defensive players now gone to draft or transferred 2021: Gunnar Helm Ja'Tavion Sanders Jonathon Brooks (we had Bijan and Rojo) Jaden Alexis (transferred) Juan Davis Casey Cain (transferred)
  6. And wbat I didn't convey (which is entirely my fault) was that the guys who have a RS have done nothing. None were five-star players. Every five-star RB and WR have played. Name one thar has RS'd. None have. Even if they didn't get a ton of catches/carries, they did not take a RS, they got on the field to learn. That's my point. Every program is different, so clearly you didn't read below where I listed other programs and their top offensive players. Just look at this year and last year alone. If you need me to list the freshmen that have played in conference or even big OOC programs I can do that. So many guys. I literally named what, like 8 schools off the top of my head? I can go through the entire SEC/B1G and I guarantee you other programs play their freshmen. If you want to pretend it doesn't happen and what Sarkisian is doing is "normal", you might want to get introduced to 2025. These kids want to play. That doesn't mean every player will be a Dallas Wilson, Vernell Brown, Ryan Williams, Jeremiah Smith, Dakorian Moore, Bryant Wesco, TJ Moore, etc. But they need to see the field even if it's for a couple of plays to see how they fare against their peers and not some zero sum practice bullshit. Arch looked like a "star" in practice, and so did our OL. We see how that went. Now we see Arch is growing with each game. That's how it works for all players. Reps = getting better, and getting a head start will help with the game slowing down. It's really not complicated.
  7. Straight up. Fuck Georgia. Beat their asses.
  8. How are y'all misinterpreting me saying get freshman WR reps = getting them the ball? No. Just no. No one expects Lockett, Ffrench, Terry III, or McCutcheon to be Jeremiah Smith/Rysn Williams/Bryant Wesco Jr, Cam Coleman. What I'm saying is get them on the field in an environment to learn to play at the speed of the game, learn their routes, move the DB away from the intended WR, block, and learn to play against their peers, while the older WR's get the ball. And if the younger guys do, great! But that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying those teams play freshmen to get them game time and game environment experience so they can take that next step next season. No one (I hope) expects a Carnell Tate, or any of the other aforementioned. Just get them on the field for blocking, router, etc. There are so many more things a WR needs to learn than catch pass, make TD. I'm only doing recent HC or currently still at their school for impact players, and if any RS amounted to anything. Since Ryan Day has become HC in 2019, he has not redshirted a single WR or RB. Even Urban Meyer famously said they don't redshirt there. Ohio State - None. No WR or RB has had a RS That's the team we should aspire to be. I don't care about Day, but I like him not RS-ing any of his skill players so they can get action, even if not even catching a pass. And by "aspire" I mean no RS, even play 2 times a game, wgaf? Just get them experience. They seem to be doing just fine with their WR's not getting a RS. Same as RB. Alabama - Nick Saban rarely redshirt any WR'S, but the ones he did didn't do anything, or transferred, and the only RB he ever redshirted was Eddie Lacy. USC - Since Riley got there, only one notable WR was a redshirt, and it's Xavier Jordan, and so far he's done nothing. King Miller is the only RB who was a RS who has done something. Everyone else transferred. Aggy - since 2017 (Jimbo hired) only Ashton Bethel-Roman was a redshirt who was an aggy commit, and RB Amari Daniels. Both seem mid, but whatever. Concepcion did while ar NC State, but I don't count him. Jerome Myles (five-star) Is out for the season with injury, so that's more injury than needing a RS. Of the RS guys, only Bethel-Roman has made any kind of impact. No, Mario Craver did not RS at Miss St, in case you're wondering. Clemson - Antonio Williams had to RS due to multiple injuries, but he did not RS as a freshman. Mike Williams had to RS due to breaking his neck the first game of the season in 2015. No RB's who turned out to be good were redshirted Penn State - No "name" WR was a RS. No Penn State "name" RB was a RS Georgia - No "name" Georgia WR's were a RS. Only Zamir White was a redshirt since 2016 (Kirby's first year). Cash Jones was a walk-on. Oregon - No "name" WR has redshirted under Lanning. No RB'S were a RS since 2021 (Lanning first year) Auburn - no WRs RS'd. No RBs have been RS'd (since 2022 Hugh Freeze coach) Florida - see above These aren't some isolated cases, either. It's become more common due to wanting to get guys on the field for experience, game day action, learning what they're taught, or if need be, get them out of the door quicker.
  9. No, you're missing the forest for the trees. I'm simply saying get them reps. Not play the entire game, or even get 3 catches, but at least get them on the field to block. More goes into getting on the field than catching passes and TD's. They have to learn to be a teammate, block, build comrade, understand where they need to be, draw the DB away from the intended receiver, and so on. Yeah, catching passes and TD's are cool, but we need them for other things, too. They need to go against their intended peer group (aka the opponent who also has five-stars and high to mid four-stars) so they can see how they match up and what they need to work on (the coaches seeing this to get them better and more ready). There won't be another Jeremiah Smith for a decade, and as for Dakorian Moore, he's been good, but he's not Jeremiah Smith or even Ryan Williams. Right now Dakorian Moore has less yards than Wingo did, and Wingo wasn't even the main target, it was Bond and Golden, then Wingo. He was the third WR on the depth chart. Moore is supposed to be their Jeremiah Smith/Ryan Williams/Bryant Wesco Jr/Cam Coleman, while Wingo is supposed to be WR1 this season, not his frosh season with the transfers. So far he has looked like it the last few games.
  10. @South Austin Come get your mom!
  11. I don't know why ND's volleyball team doesn't just donate their knee pads to the committee?
  12. Wingo played as a freshman out of necessity, but Moore got to learn behind Whittington, one of the greatest Longhorns ever, and an amazing teacher. Livingstone was a project and needed weight, and is still 2 more catches ahead of Wingo was as a true freshman, and is 10 catches behind Wingo and 250 yards behind, but both have 5 TD's for the season (Wingo had 2 as a true frosh). So Wingo is the only freshman to start and it was out of necessity. Now we have Mosley and Livingstone, but that doesn't mean Lockett can't get reps to go into next season prepared.
