Preseason top 5 next year feels like

    South Carolina
    Texas
    UConn
    Southern Cal
    Notre Dame

I'd be feeling far more confident with another big or two.

Moore and Jones are certainly a good starting point but we need depth, thankfully Vic and the staff are obviously attempting to address the issue.

Hopefully, the guard challenges we faced from not being successful in the portal last year, will light a fire to address our big girl needs for 2024-2025

    No surprises there

I'm not either, but definitely some surprises again this year. Would be nice to not have players that come to the team recovering from injury.

I'm hoping we end up with a bench full of players Vic trusts to play. Hate playing these deep teams while half our bench never gets out of warm-ups.

Do we pick up another player with Maul leaving?

You’re right, but it still stings a little that she didn’t want to play her final year at Texas.

    Yep, it does.

Lost her playing time to Moore, Gaston, and Jones but at least she came back for the tourney.

You have to be pretty good for Vic to sign you up, but the talent level here is on the incline, so some of the young ladies have some tough decisions to make.

Everyone wants to play, can't blame them.

  4. If you are a famous public personality in the age of every jackass having a publicly visible voice, you will be criticized and probably threatened on some level. The more abrasive you are the more attacks you will receive.

She is benefiting from her fame and suffering the consequences. Threats are never ok, but famous people need to expect and have a strategy to deal with it. It is coming.

She certainly should express her emotional challenges and frustrations, no problem there.

The issue I have is the context. It was the post-game interview in which the losing team typically says “we tried hard but failed to execute….give credit to the other assholes, they played well….we didn’t respond…. the refs fucked us….” whatever. And that’s it.

It’s like “horns down”. Please do it all you want, just not in the good game handshake line.

Angel’s maturity level had her change the subject entirely from the game and try to elicit sympathy for how hard it has been since “I” won the championship. She couldn’t own the loss, she tried to get everyone to feel sorry for her. Her road ahead will be hard if she doesn’t grow up quick.

Nice story and info from KXAN.   Excerpts:

“Coach Conradt means the world to me,” he said. “It’s what I envisioned when I took the job, her coming into the office and us drinking coffee the morning after the game and talking over the game. Like, how can you not value that expertise, that wisdom? I may have been coaching for 39 years, y’all, but I’m smart enough to know I can’t do it by myself.”

After she sat out of the Gonzaga game while in concussion protocol, forward Taylor Jones practiced Saturday, Schaefer said. That’s a step in the right direction for her to be available against the Wolfpack, but Schaefer didn’t confirm if she’ll play.

Texas got great minutes from Amina Muhammad, DeYona Gaston and Ndjakalenga Mwenentenda in Jones’ absence, on top of Aaliyah Moore’s tremendous game with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Texas is going to need all of its low-block players to match up with the Wolfpack’s frontcourt.

“They have a big, physical inside game, which we have to deal with a lot in the Big 12,” Schaefer said. “We’ve had to guard some really good inside players, and he (NC State coach Wes Moore) certainly has that. They’re so physical.”

Ehh, it’s been fine from what I’ve seen. The only questions I had were on the Iowa/WVU game. I thought our games in Austin were reffed fine.

It will just depends on what crew we have tonight. We will definitely have someone who we’ve seen before because they do B12 games (1), someone we haven’t seen before—most likely (2) and usually the 3rd is someone who may not be in either conference or in both conferences (3). That helps.

The women’s side is the same as the men’s on how refs advance to the next round. That may not bode well because of our style. The old saying goes it’s better to call a foul and have it be CI (Call Incorrect) than to not call a foul and have it be NCI (No Call Incorrect). More often than not, contact being a foul will result in a CC (Call Correct), and that could be contact that was always let go or not called in a regular season game.

These refereeing insights are always interesting as hell. Thanks.

I'd rather keep guys around who have already been here and contributed significant minutes. That includes Hunter and Mitchell.

Tyrese: Third in scoring, tied for most in assists, tied for most in steals, lead in turnovers, shot pretty well.
Dillon: Fourth in scoring, highest in rebounds, fourth in turnovers, third in blocks, shot well (dunks).

RT did great to finish this season with a tournament win.
Texas had no one who could create a shot for themselves and no one who could create shots for others. The team’s biggest strength was effort.
RT got the max from the squad assembled

Whether you like the outcome of the season or not, like all coaches, Coach Terry was responsible for the squad assembled.

  11. Coach Terry is not going away anytime soon.

We’ll have a number of additional data points to assess his ability to lead Texas by the earliest time he could be dismissed. I think the vast majority of us are hoping for the best.
