We are effing loaded at DT, there is no shame or shunning of those kids that didn't play. They needed to develop physically as well. Freshmen linemen in general rarely make a significant impact, when they do, its because there is shit there in the first place. Pretty sure those young guys are going to be good they just had too much depth in front of them. Good problem to have.

There was no shaming. It's true regardless of position or talent - if possible, you'd rather not be dependent on young inexperienced players. Not saying they're bad, just that "Good and has 2+ years starting experience" is better "Pretty good to good but hasn't had a lot of snaps."

Everything I've read has been that any IDL transfer would be a one year guy, so it wouldn't change a ton (or that's the thinking at least). Just gives the young guys another year of backup reps and S&C before they have to be starting which would be great

They have to get experience sometime. Kelvin Banks was an inexperienced OL until he wasn’t and balled! I say give ‘em a chance

They would, we'd probably just rotate them in more. Then Sweat + the transfer leave and you'll have a bunch of 3rd year dudes with substantial reps over two years and 3 years of film + S&C

This is assuming Collins decides to keep dicking around. If he actually shows up (lol) I'd be okay w/ what we have. Gets us a Murphy/Sweat/Collins IDL and then the year after we'll have Murphy + all the young dudes

I never read anything about Aaron Bryant or Kristopher Ross when writers are discussing the depth at Defensive Line.  I thought both of those guys were players.  Texas should be loaded at DT despite the attrition of two players.

It's all mostly inexperienced depth though. You don't want to be counting on those dudes if you have a choice

Burton mentioned today that he's hearing BJ Allen is already well over 210 pounds and there's some questions as to whether he is going to stick in a traditional safety role long term (for reference, Cook and Jerrin Thompson both played at around 185-188 this year). Said that news emphasizes the need to get a starting safety from the portal even more.

Then what are we guessing his long-term position will be? He's too short to be a LB. And idk about playing the dude in a "nontraditional" safety role. Seems like it'd be easier just to play a different dude who fits the role more cleanly for continuity. Jesus, tf did the dude do? The dude was listed at 185 as a recruit and he's gained 30-35+ pounds?

    Huh.

I didn't know anybody had a problem with the offensive play calling this year. It seems very good to me, outside of our delusion that we could just run over Iowa State's defense at the goal line (but hey, that worked out on 4th down). And usually when people do criticize it, it is for going deep on 4th and short and generally being too aggressive. Even our short passes seem to be set up well with motion and pulling blockers and so forth.

They're negative about everything to do with the team, just ignore it

So basically we slice through the shit12 like a hot knife through butter..

And then get fucked out of a playoff spot due to a dirty hit from Bama that led to them winning a game they actually lost, and one shit game at sand aggy. Is that what the above means?

That's not how probabilities work, no

I believe if he was down, then the late hit on the QB stands.

The fact that we got the ball back in good enough field position to get three points out of it probably made it better for us. Yeah we could have gotten two points then maybe drive the field, but who knows. It gave us a very good chance at three as it was.

The non call PI and face mask were the killers.

If they blow the whistle correctly when he was down, there's no "late" hit. Regardless, the refs fucking up directly took 2 off the board for us

  8. I remember TFB mentioned Sark and Ewers first, and they did get some of the assistants - I remember them teasing the DC hire and within 2 hours Surly figured out it was probably PK based off what they were saying

I hated Foster. He was terrible.

But what if all the other players were also terrible? The argument that these other players are for sure better is based on hate for the defensive coordinator and linebacker coach because there's no evidence to prove these guys are better. None.

I'm all for criticizing PK's scheme choices and Choate's shitty recruiting but this is just nonsense. Using a 2nd string safety playing out of position on the 100th ranked FEI defense to prove the coaching staff wasn't playing the "best players" is dumb. Same applies to the other players listed in this thread (Cooks and Adimora).

I think Foster shouldn't have played just because of how bad he was for the locker room and as a leader, even if the dudes behind him may be worse. Otherwise I agree with your point, nothing can be taken from dudes transferring down to shitty defenses.

To each his own, but Garth Brooks is the example for C&W? The guy with several crossover hits, who literally had a pop alter ego put out an album? I’d say Ernest Tubb or Porter Wagoner, but those guys liked pissing on girls, too.

I like using him as an example because I always have twenty people immediately respond he's not country, because apparently there's been no new country music in 20+ years and everything is just pop now according to some country music fans I talk to. You're right though

Tbh I just randomly picked an artist from each to be as ridiculous as possible. There's definitely crossover but I'd never in my life say that country is "very similar" to R&B

Big dick energy.  Why wouldn’t Addison want to play next to 2 future 1st rounders in Bijan and Worthy along with a QB that’s projected right now in to go early 1st round if not the #1 pick in almost all 2024 projected drafts.  Then you’ve got a guy like Ja’Tavion Sanders that by all accounts has looked like the 5 star player he was thought to be this spring.  Throw him a 1 mil NiL deal and let’s see if USC really has guys lined to shell the money they say they have.  Clearly they’ve got some funds with Mathis not choosing Texas.  Who knows, you got the kid on campus, see if you can change his mind… Fuck USC and Bama.

$1M isn't going to do it.

Anyway, Addison is just using us to cover for Lincoln’s tampering, right?

Literally every recruiting service and write up had him as a TE out of high school. There were concerns as to how much weight he'd be able to put on which would effect his blocking, but he was always a TE
