Why would he think it’s better to sell $8.5b in stock and pay a $1b break up fee than to just sell $8.5b in stock?
I’m not sure if he has restrictions on selling his stock, but maybe it was to help maintain confidence in Tesla. He didn’t want it to look like he was dumping a bunch of stock near the top just for personal reasons.

The climate activist fixation on going after food providers is a bit strange. Not surprised Canada is leading the way.

Looks like I flew too close to the CR sun again. For my last post thought I’d share this response to the Dept of Commerce from a Bitcoin lobbying. Being pro Bitcoin is pro freedom. A lot of the ideals underpinning it are in line with why this country was founded. God speed, CR.
Also shout out to all my most prolific neggers. This wouldn’t be possible without you. Penelope, Felix, Vr horn, Upper Westside, Bullneck, Trauma Babe. Keep fighting that good fight.

Russia is on day 130 or so of a 3-day war. They are running low on a lot of high-tech munitions and manpower in general, and are having to take low-tech munitions from Belarus. Let’s revisit this conversation on August 4th. It’s not going to be the lost cause you think it is.
I hope you’re right. We’ll circle back.

But you know what? The United States and the European Union, as well as our partners (Japan, Canada Australia, etc.), throwing our economic weight around in terms of sanctions, etc. against Russia has shaken China up, to the point where Xi is shuffling the pro-Russian officials out of the upper levels.
The kinds of sanctions we levied against Russia, and the thought of stopping goods from China to most of the 1st World countries, scares the living shit out of Xi, because while it would hurt us, it would put hundreds of millions of Chinese out of work and in the streets.
If you take nothing else from all of this and from whatever pro-Russian sources you rely on, the US has shown it still has a shitload of economic power it can throw around.
We do have a lot of economic power still. Unfortunately we’ve played a lot of our best cards and showed the gameplan. China, and others, can now adjust and prepare ahead of time.

Once again, thanks for the heads up IV. Got my shit out of there in time.
Great to hear.
These exchange/yield product blowups are going to be a mixed bag. On the negative side, they are going to invite a lot of regulation. Some will be useful, but it introduces the chance for unrelated regs and other overreach. On the plus side, people should be learning the importance of self custody. The more people hold their own coins, the more resilient the whole system and less easily manipulated.
In other news, miner capitulation continuing.

Saw this last night. Add to it the Dutch farmer revolt and the EU is in for a hard time. What is next? American dock workers strike is on my bingo card.
That’s at the Long Beach port facility right? I remember seeing something about negotiations a while back.
