  1. Cool AF. Can you believe some of that stick and cloth shit actually flew?

Even more fun ate the planes from what I call the “Hall of Nope” or “It was a great idea, it just didn’t work” or “French Engineering: Nobody copies the French and the French don’t copy nobody.”

    Wingtip jets? We got em.

    VTOL bomber? Check

Weird cockpit over giant engine? Sure!

There’s a couple more doozies but those will have to wait until later.

  2. Someone bought the house next door, tore it down, and made a yard out of the lot.
    We were playing barefoot.
The field was not 110 yards long, it wasn’t 55 yards long, it was more like 25-35 yards long with those pop-up goals that are about 3 1/2 feet tall.

So grownups playing on a toddler field?

This one is pretty special. It’s a real Deperdussin racer. Everything around it looks like powered kites because that’s what was contemporary. But this is one of those true “form follows function” moments. It a pretty airplane.

The building itself is an art deco gem. The former Le Bourget terminal.

I love the folk art of aviation.

  4. So go to reverb right now and look up the Trini Lopez reissues and then look at the Dave Grohl artist models. They are the same friggin guitar, but one is 2-3 times more than the other solely because of the name. Crazy.

What mesa is that? Lonestar, Electrodyne, Royal Atlantic?

Lonestar.  I love playing it at home, but when I've played it out I haven't been able to really bond with it.  I feel like it doesn't keep up with my buddy's Twin.  That said, it may be too much amp for me.  I haven't really had time to go through the manual to really understand all its glorious bells and whistles.  I've since bought an old Vibrolux and that kind of hits that 1x12 sweet spot for me.   It's a simpler machine, like its operator.

I'm pondering parting with it, so if you know anyone who may want it, I'm willing to make a deal.  It's in great shape.

looks like you're out of room and need to unload that goldtop.  i could do you the favor.

I've thought about it, but that is forever known in our household as the "free baby guitar" so I can't let go of it.  I'm sure I've told the story, but since I'm old, imma tell it again.  The day of Mrs. F's baby shower, a friend called me up and said, "Hey, you want to go check out this guitar shop up in Lewisville that's going out of business?"  You know the answer.  I asked my wife, "How much is this baby going to cost?"  She said the deductible has been met this year.  Won't cost us a thing.  So turns out the first shop was picked clean, but the R6 was hanging on the wall at the local GC and they were trying to get rid of it as it had been there for a while.  I was their man.

The R8 I'm pondering on.  I'm about to head out on travel, but if anyone wants a solid R8 that has grovers now and better than original (though I didn't do the replacing) pups, let me know come mid Jan.  The neck is just a hair thick for my tiny mitts.  So if I could find a thinner r9/r0 with the same basic look/sound, I'd swap.

  7. Someone convince me not to buy this.  Rarely have I wanted something so hard. It’s a Lotus Europa that someone else gave up on.  I know it will bring me only pain and anger, but so help me I want this so bad.

It’s what you want to do. So you should do it.
  8. Thanks for staying at the Casa de Ken! House rules:

Please, no loud music after 10 p.m.
When leaving the house for the day, please set the thermostat to 74.
Remember, no abortions allowed in the house.
Please remove sheets from bed and pile by the washer/dryer when checking out.
Send a text to Dave P if you need anything.

Don’t forget to leave your suitcase of money you need laundered in the utility room. Wink wink nudge nudge nudge. Say no more.
  9. She's great.  The ones she did with Mickey Raphael, Jeff Tweedy and Marc Rebillet were all really good.  I thought it was hi-larious that Rebillet didn't know that Ravi Shankar was her father, nor that she had a famous half-sister.

Always entertaining, plus I think I could listen to her talk about nothing all day and still catch a semi-stiffy.

I wouldn't mind having a separate game thread for each trial. Some of the catch-all threads get hard to follow after a few hundred pages and 90whatever indictments.

Agreed.  It's hard to keep the many and varied treasonous activities straight.
