  1. Tickets for tonight's game (decent upper deck infield) are less than $200 from a few vendors, with fees averaging around $70 per ticket.

I'm sorely tempted to head downtown tonight and see a World Series game in person for the first time in my life.  The fact that it could also be a World Series clenching game for the Rangers is pretty sweet, as well.

Dad took me to a Rangers game in their inaugural season in Arlington when I was 5 years old--I want to say it was against the Red Sox, but all I remember for sure is it was within the first few weeks of the season--and I've been a long-suffering fan ever since.  The way the 2011 Series got away from us took years off my life, I'm sure.

Completely off topic, I wish we'd have stuck with the uniform change we made when we moved from Arlington Stadium to the Ballpark in Arlington.  I thought I'd hate the red caps but I immediately loved the switch.

You dipsticks are acting like the original had massive elaborate sets. Did you not watch the show? They had 3 basic sets, living room, studio and coffee shop with an occasional 4th for locations.

True, but those sets looked like they belonged on a Hollywood sound stage, not a high school one act play.

Are you thinking Midnight Mass? I usually don’t go for horror stuff but it was campy enough to be fun.

Yeah that's what I was talking about.

A new way to destroy a vampire.  No fire, no beheading, no stake through the heart, just slice up his leathery wings while he feeds on you, so he can't outrun the rising sun.

It seems like maybe they made a deal with the devil on nye 1979 and the death of the kids is the payment.  But the story of Rod and his sister is progressing very slowly, as so much of each ep is spent either on a kid story or the present day interaction.

Yeah, at first it seemed that resurrected mom would be the featured supernatural force, but then Gugino shows up and some kind of Faustian bargain was my first thought, but since then I'm leaning toward she's just there as judgment upon the Usher siblings.  Not sure about anything, though.

  5. I got through most of the first episode before work interrupted me.  I stopped right when we learn Frederick is gay, and that Frasier always smells really good.

I didn't chuckle or even smile so far, so I'm hoping it gets better.

Frasier was one of the best sitcoms ever made.

Damn that takes me back to being a kid in Dallas in the early 80s. The Von Erichs were gods and WCCW was must-watch TV. I remember when our dad took mdleast and me to the shitty Sportatorium. No Von Erichs but we saw Iceman King Parsons win a match.

One of the most exciting nights of my childhood was going to the Sportatorium with a schoolfriend and his dad.

No Von Erich's that night, but I got to see one of my favorite things in wrestling back then, Ox Baker giving his opponent the "heart punch" which resulted in the guy flopping/convulsing on the canvas like a fish out of water.  I was terrified of Baker and that punch, which made it beyond thrilling.

But most of all, it was just incredible to be in the crowd that I'd seen on TV every Saturday night for years.

  7. I enjoyed the first episode but there were times when it seemed like it was dragging on versus getting the actual story started.

Great atmosphere, and I enjoy Bruce Greenwood in everything he does.  I hope they keep it interesting.

I've enjoyed all the Flanagan October netflix series except last years.  Hopefully this one bounces back.

What was last year's?  The preacher who brought home a vampire?

They called holding on Alabama that overturned a touchdown.

When's the last time they called holding on OU against us ever? It's been like 8 years in a row we get no calls and they just obviously hold.

Those were Big 12 Refs you goob

It's been a while since I followed recruiting closely, mainly because I'm just a few years short of 60 and there comes a time when you understand there are things you can't control, and high school recruit drama is one of them.

But supposedly we have a ton of big recruits on hand for this one.  I guess we'll see if it matters or not.

Holding was allowed. Just like every year with the rig12 and Oklahoma.

It ends next year thank God.

    Laughing my fucking ass off.

If you're expecting better officiating in the SEC then you're gonna be sorely disappointed.

    Fucking delicious.

    My gf is from India.

When she moved to Texas, I introduced her and her sister to:

Chicken Fried Steak, beef fajitas, and then more seriously, brisket at Black's in Lockhart, and prime Rib Eye steaks at the Wooden Nickel in Crested Butte.

They lost their minds.  And I had fun playing the serpent in the Garden.

Have friends in town from Germany so took them to the “local” steakhouse 30 miles away. Couldn’t get the game on the radio because of local Friday night high school football. Life in a small town.

    How'd they enjoy the steaks?
