His teammates love him.
Love this, thanks for sharing! I wanted to watch but it wasn’t showing in Houston (as far as I know?)

BTW, I'm fairly certain I attended the UH game at the Astrodome following the 1990 UT win.
My dad is UH Alum so I grew up a cougar fan. They won 84-21 against Eastern Washington. (lol)

1. Vince Young for the NATTY.
2. 1996 Big 12 Championship game. Ricky Williams, Priest Holmes, James Brown, Roll Left. This was my first season as a Longhorn fan so this game will always be very special to me.
3. November 27, 1998. Unranked Texas upsets #6 A&M and Ricky Williams breaks Tony Dorsett's 22-year-old rushing record with a 60 yd. touchdown run. (I was there in the student section.)
4. 2005 Rose Bowl. Terrific last second win against Michigan to cap off a great season and foreshadow great things to come.
5. 2023 Alabama. Instant classic.
Runner up: 1999 vs. #3 Nebraska - the first time we had faced them since the upset in '96. (I was there in the student section.)

At the same time, if the decline starts next year? So be it... would be timed perfectly for our entrance into the SEC. All I know is that I feel more comfortable about next year and I'm thinking with all the dumbass SEC bravado, their fans are feeling less comfortable. Not that I'm worried about Vandy, Kentucky, SC, Mizzou... you know, perennial powerhouses.
I just hope the Longhorns don't play like the Astros... play strongly against good teams and lose to the A's. Longhorns have never done that, right? RIGHT?!?

I think it's cool when you get to play a bunch of teams you have long histories against.
The Big 12 was nice in that way because a lot of them were old members of the SWC.
I never felt any real sense of loyalty to the Big 12. I rooted for Big 12 teams if it was in our interest.
I don't really care about the SEC one way or another.
I'll miss playing some of the old teams, but I'm glad we still have OU and will be playing A&M again.
Other than that it's just a business decision. We'll be playing some good teams every year.
Right now I'm just thinking about how nice it would for our first and last years in the Big 12 to be championships. 🤘

What is the story?
As detailed in Joe Vardon's recent piece for The Athletic, Wilkins recalled that Jordan once had the audacity to enter his opponents' locker room and warn them that it would be "a long f------ night" before posting a standout performance early in his career.
"I remember him walking into our locker room in Chicago, and he walked right by me," Wilkins told Vardon. "And I'm like, what the hell is he coming in our locker room for? And he walked by me, walked by Kevin [Willis], and he tapped Randy Wittman on the leg, and he said, 'Lace 'em up, it's gonna be a long f---ing night.' And he walked out."

No matter what happens for the rest of the season or his career for the Longhorns, we'll always have that great win in our memories.
Thanks for that Sark! 🤘

What an amazing game, I'm still hoarse just from celebrating.
Let's close out our time in the Big 12 with a bang! 🤘

Wyoming: 20
Texas: 35
RB account for 216 total yards.
Predicting a bit of a hangover game. I hope I'm wrong. 🤘

Saban is 25-2 against former assistants with an average margin of victory of almost 24 points.
Bama 38
Texas 17
It's actually 28-2 against former assistants. (Link)
That is an impressive 93.3 % winning percentage.
Saban's time winning percentage at Alabama : 87.5%
That isn't a super significant difference. He beats everyone.

Texas: 23
Alabama: 17
Alabama with 341 yards of total offense.
Also calling Ewers throwing 2 TD and being picked once.
-
Texas - 42
Rice - 7
Ewers - 256 passing yards with 3 TD
-
There isn't much game week chatter. Feeling down, Longhorn Nation?
I get that, but Ewers will bounce back this week and we'll paint Manhattan Orange!

Gonna be there. Gonna be loud. Gonna stroll out of the stadium with that warm, fuzzy, winning feeling. (plus a buzz and a sunburn)

They are usually pretty good at football. They have won as many Big 12 championships as everyone else combined.
That being said, I really hope we beat the fucking shit out of them.

Saturday was a complete gut punch for me. I was screaming and cursing at the TV. Turning it off. Turning it back on. I was forced to let go of the idea that maybe this year's team could be something special. Oh well. Maybe they'll win the championship when I'm 45 - another year to wait. I could literally feel it like an illness when I went to sleep that night.
At times like that wonder, why do I do this to myself? Why does it hurt so much? Why do I expose myself to this pain?
Then I think about being a UT Freshman in 1996. Watching the gutsy roll left call on 4th and inches, leading to a touchdown, icing a huge upset win over Nebraska and giving Texas the first championship of the Big 12's existence.
I was HOOKED for life.
I remember a cool, humid morning the day after Thanksgiving in 1998. Driving through winding Texas highways early in the morning to get to the stadium in time. Hearing the roar of the crowd as Ricky Williams busted out for a 60 yard touchdown run late in first quarter to break the NCAA rushing record against the Aggies.
I remember January 4, 2006. Down by 5 with a little over 2 minutes to play. USC has the ball. 4th and 2. I scream at the TV "If we can just stop them we can win this son of a bitch!". LenDale White stuffed for a one yard gain. The rest is history as Vince Young led the Longhorn nation to the promised land.
That is why these losses hurt. I love Texas Longhorn football.
So I don't ask you to not be angry, upset, or even lose hope for a while. I just ask that you think about why you care so much.
Hook 'em!

I think the fan base is still a bit traumatized. It's been a long tough period. Takes at least a full season of being good to fully get some swagger back.
