Yeah, the smartest thing Switzer ever did was make OU a defacto Texas program.  He always found reasons to play games in the state and recruited Houston really well along with DFW.  He even wanted OU to join the SWC at one point.  Now, DFW is at least twice the size as it was just 20 years ago.  Also, OU as a school has always had a large number of Texas students.

Nah, Barry didn’t start that. Bud Wilkinson 47 game win streak is directly tied to half the squad being from Texas. Barry just kept up the recruiting strategy Bud had already established.

LR is really screwing up... Caleb has not improved at all this year.  Won't be surprised to see usc continue to regress this year.

Lots of distractions. They have talent, it just isn’t cohesive. Looks like playground football.

Nah. Coaches like Riley are cowards. They are afraid to bring in good coaching talent because they are insecure and think that if the other guy does too good of a job, he will become their replacement. Lots of recent examples of this, including our guy Tommy boy.

Coaches that are secure in their own abilities go out and hire the best coaches they can, period. They want to win and they want their assistants to succeed with them.

I’m just speculating, but I don’t think he really cares. At least not in the same way a Saban or Smart does. Those guys spend 24/7 looking for an edge.

Riley on the other hand loves the trappings of the profession and cooks shit BBQ. I think it was the glitter more than the potential of winning that took him to SC.

You think that because you spend literally zero time or effort to learn anything about him - which I understand.

If you’re open to the possibility of a different opinion, watch his speech here.  He’s a humble, hard working man that grew up with extreme hardships and has earned this opportunity. He’s quite simply the antimeathead. He demands everyone’s best and knows how to get it.

I really don’t need to watch a video. I have spoken with him on several occasions at Clemson’s booster club gatherings. My kid is on the board of IPTAY donation group.

I also don’t necessarily disagree with any your particular points. But, to be the face of a major program? Yeah, that I didn’t see. Obviously Castiglione saw something else.

Not sure why Texas fans assumed he wouldn’t be. Can’t even begin to count how many times I read we’ll be wandering the desert for a decade, he’s charlie strong, etc.

Texas fans and Brandon Walker thought he’d fail. Great company to hold.

I live a short distance from Clemson. I had seen him many times while he was there. And nothing I ever saw suggested head coach material. Great assistant, lots of success, not particularly well spoken. And, there were many rumors as well.

So when Riley gutted that program, in a way I had not seen before. By not only his departure, but taking 75% of the offense with him, and collapsing the remaining staff. It sure looked like a multi year rebuilding job.

So yeah, I’m surprised that the guy I saw with the deer in the headlights look at his opening presser managed to pull this off in year two. Surprised the shit out of me.

I'm not fully convinced our OL isn't still a year away, or more, and Majors going down didn't help at all, probably explains all of the false starts, among other things.

I was pretty shocked at how ineffective the DL/front seven were after being so dominant.  When we can't get pressure, this is what happens with a PK offense.

The defensive line is what surprised me. I honestly didn’t think they could handle us.
