The minute football players are officially recognized as employees and the universities are recognized as employers the sport as we know it dies.
I can just imagine wage and hour showing up at the local university.

I worked for Garrett Airesearch back in the 70’s. And I remember sitting around pondering the fact that Kelly Johnson and his skunkworks developed the SR-71 in the early 1960’s. Here we are half a century later and that airframe is still the gold standard.

It is simply an award that outlived its usefulness.

Do any of the most recent bits count?
Eagle Rare (2)
GH Mckenna
Weller (regular ol green)
Blantons
1792 (2)
Buffalo Trace (4)
I still like to find $25 gems that are as good as the over hyped and over priced stuff. And I would like it to stay available.
I used that green label Weller in place of Irish whiskey to make Irish coffee about a week ago simply because it was the closest bottle to me. Fuck me, I have been slamming them down every night since. I don’t know what it is about that particular sauce, but something really fucking special happens when mixed with strong coffee, heavy cream and brown sugar.

Interesting, I thought it was just me. We have a nice place by the house that makes a great pie. But these days 2 slices and I’m good. I’m an old, but damn I used to be able to put pizza away.

Is this real? I mean, under no circumstances should Vince and that idiot be going head to head on anything.

Why is anyone scared of Washington? They played nobody all season.
It’s not that I’m scared of them, it’s that they have a vertical passing game, they can run and play defense well. A team will have to play well to beat them.

What the hell are they talking about with McCarthy being an NFL player?
The only way he gets in the NFL is by buying a ticket.

You guys need to understand the absolute only way we’re getting in is with an FSU loss. Mich is not going to lose. FSU still might but it’s doubtful
Nah, I disagree. I have listened to the “eye test” bullshit for years. Texas would break foot off in the ass of all four teams currently playing. Washington presents a challenge, and we already beat Bama. Fuck that, give us a chance.

All I know is I love our chances to win it all if we get in.

How the fuck do these teams have such good records?
-
After seeing all the contenders, we’re going to win the whole fucking thing.

Bill Murray in St Vincent. It’s predictable, and nothing particularly special about the script. But, the use of Bob Dylan’s “Shelter from the storm” resonated with me.

I started on Marlboro reds in the 60’s. When I went to Germany to finish school I switched to HB’s (Haus Bergmann). When I got back stateside I picked up Winston’s and finally Marlboro lights. Put them down a long time ago, but if I’m being honest, I always liked to smoke. Especially in the morning with strong coffee.

The best "fill in the musical instrument player" discussion/argument kills me. I'm in agreement with you. 95% of the people arguing have no clue of proficiency/ability on any given instrument, just a biased opinion on what they like. People who claim Hendricks/Clapton/Slash et all, guitarist are the best ever, just spout what they've read somewhere else. Ever see Terry Cathy or Jan Akkerman play? I saw Carlos Montoya play flamenco guitar and he was amazing. He could do stuff most guitarist could never imagine doing. I guess people like to argue or try to prove their own importance/knowledge/superiority on subjects. I don't really care. I just enjoy the music.
I always laugh at “the best” lists. Those things are popularity contests. And there is really no way to evaluate a Johnny Winter to Al Di Meola to Steve Stevens based solely on technical efficiency. They ALL are fucking great at what they do. Then you have to throw in your BB King types who refuse to play chords if they can avoid it. Or a Keith Richards who loves to play open G. He is basically only playing five strings. And his riffs are iconic as hell.
Now if you start factoring in who could write songs, and who could not, you would get some separation. But even then how do you compare Knopfler to say, Clapton and the previously mentioned Richards when they don’t play anything alike? Yet they all are bad ass -

Agree 100%. More of the Pac 12 schools align with UT as a research university or Austin with its general liberalism/blue-democratic-leaning populace. Plus, LA, San Fran/Bay, Seattle, Oregon are way cooler areas to visit than most of SEC, with crappy redneck, red state towns. Facebook, Google, Apple, Tesla are all California-based global tech firms with skyscrapers or factories in Austin. What big tech firms from SEC-Land are in Austin with skyscrapers or factories? None?
(The move to SEC was orchestrated from top -- BOR, BMD, Abbott -- and was about way more than money and "big boy" football. Also about post-BLM, red state political alignment. No CR. Just saying... it is obvious.)
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But, this all worked out in our favor.

Football aside I believe Sark is a hell of a good story that no one in the media believes newsworthy. Which is a fucking shame.

In his autobiography, Adams says that he sometimes reprinted the same image --- dodging and burning various portions ---- a couple of thousand times before being satisfied with the result. So when you're viewing the famous Half Dome photo, keep in mind that it's not the actual photo as his camera perceived it, but the photo as his mind did AFTER he worked on it in the darkroom. I am convinced that, if he lived today, Ansel would be a huge Photoshop guy.I agree…

The ACC bitched about the lack of ESPN promotion. They promised them some more commercials, a few more national broadcasts, and coverage on College Gameday. In addition to the Clemson flag and other manufactured signs for other schools plus an ACC sign that say “Conference of Greatness” being held up by ESPN employees at every location now.
Seriously?

Pretty damn good crowd as well.

Damn, hard count got his ass.
What does college football look like in 20 years?

If that’s tongue in cheek disregard all this bullshit?
HR is nothing more than an apparatus or extension of a company’s law department. The eyes and ears so to speak. Most employees incorrectly believe HR to be their friend, but that is not their job at all. Their job is pretty much to protect the company. Putting out small fires before they become big ones. If you found help in the process of a complaint, good deal. Chances are whatever your issue was, was detrimental to the company.
Wage and hour on the other hand enforces wages, record keeping, overtime, David Bacon and The service contract act including the Fair labor standards act. Not to mention FMLA, garnishment of wages, polygraph testing, pretty much everything. And when there is an issue the letter you receive has United States of America vs whoever they are going after on the letterhead. It’s intimidating I don’t care who you are.
Can you imagine such a group with oversight over all of college football? Including its athletic directors, chancellors, or board members. All one disgruntled player would have to do is go to their local federal building and file a complaint. And unlike the NCAA (DOL) wage and hour has subpoena power. Discovery would also be a hell of a story should it come into play.
