Since I didn't grow up in TX, I just don't get this "camp culture" y'all have.  Seeing that there are camp reunion committees, camp alumni chat groups, etc. just seems weird as fuck to an outsider.

Wait 'till you hear about the culture at "Fish Camp".

The whole Christian thing, besides a kind of nominal thing, seems to be a latter-day development.  Which pretty much makes sense.

Damn... We were looking for Jewish Space Lazers, but it was the Mormons behind weather control all along

Although 1,200 feet of elevation gain over 2 miles was no joke.

I mean....actual cash bribes would be a shitload more dignified than purchasing their votes with what amounts to tchotchkes on par with shit you get for 500 tickets at Chuck E Cheese.

Paramount said the $16 million sum “includes plaintiffs’ fees and costs,” and will not be paid to Trump directly, but instead will be allocated to Trump’s future presidential library — mirroring a settlement agreement that Disney’s ABC struck with Trump last December.

    Yup. From Paramount, in November.

It is my vibe that the higher ed management pipeline is as dog shit and reliant on consulting as every other management pipeline that I've come across. Just there to make a splash and leave before everyone gets wet kind of thing.

Am I off base? I feel like everything is boiling down to profit and loss, even education and civic services

This is true from my experience... Especially when universities want to save money by cutting staff and reducing headcount and then bringing in consultants as defensible one time expenditures.

My uni has lost 35% of personnel in some areas but has hired (by my count) 12 different consultants or outside firms to sell us their bullshit ideas and leave with us not having any folks to do the regular work let alone any new initiative or manage the transition to a new paradigm.

  8. Not a political cartoon, per se, but satire worth posting:

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—In a move that he called “long overdue,” on Tuesday Donald J. Trump signed an executive order changing the meaning of the word “obliterate.”

According to the order, the word, which formerly meant “destroy utterly” or “wipe out,” will now mean “delay for a few months.”

Trump used the signing ceremony to announce a plan to remove from the English language thousands of what he called “Obama-era long words.”

Headed for the chopping block are such polysyllabic words as “jurisprudence,” “constitutional,” and “polysyllabic.”
