You don’t get it. WNBA players work just as hard as NBA players. Therefore they should be paid the same. Don’t distract from the argument by pointing out irrelevancies like attendance, TV ratings, revenue from licensing, or other similar silly numbers. Just pay them more. C’mon man.

I think for this guy it’s pure libertarianism and then belief that every part of the government needs to be severely constrained due to corruption.

He’s honestly more of an anarchist libertarian than a fascist.

There's a lot of that mindset on both sides of the political spectrum.

Atlantic: The Americans Who Need Chaos.

    Quote

White men in the conspiracy-theory study were the most sensitive to perceived challenges to status, Petersen told me. But the researchers wrote that the need for chaos was “highest among racial groups facing historical injustice—in particular, Black males.”

Anti-elite conspiracy theories and tear-it-all-down rhetoric can appeal to groups who feel, sometimes quite rightly, aggrieved by long-standing injustice.

As we spoke, I recalled some of the radical rhetoric from the summer of 2020: “If this country doesn’t give us what we want, then we will burn down this system and replace it,” Hawk Newsome, the chairman of Black Lives Matter of Greater New York, said during an interview with Fox News. “I could be speaking figuratively; I could be speaking literally. It’s a matter of interpretation.” When I think about our political and social institutions, I cannot help thinking, “Just let them all burn.”

USC should just give the speech to Vince Young.

Yup. They'll probably give it to Lendale White instead

Same way my neighbors were okay with me trenching their yards on the way to and from HEB. When it is midnight and you absolutely, positively have to get some Doritos.

Wait... The HEB in Tehran is open at midnight?

He bought a plunger and a hammer with a MAGA hat on.  This happened, in real life.  What in the ever fucking hell timeline are we on?

Given that most MAGA folks are full of shit, the plunger wouldn't raise any suspicion

i started to read hamilton's reynold's pamphlet the other day and saw this in the intro.  the more things change, the more they stay the same.

Lies often detected and refuted are still revived and repeated, in the hope that the refutation may have been forgotten or that the frequency and boldness of accusation may supply the place of truth and proof.

There's also the "backfire effect", where people hold firmer to their beliefs when confronted by facts that refute them.

Still working out the details, but the current plan is to head to Quinault for two nights (Quinault first afternoon, Hoh Rain Forest and Kalaloch beaches day two), drive to Port Angeles on day three, with stops along the way at Sol Duc Falls and Lake Crescent (Spruce RR/Devil's Punchbowl), Hurricane Ridge/Hill on the fourth morning, with the afternoon still up in the air.

I'm staying at the Quinault Lodge later this week... Rialto on Friday, Lake Crescent and Hurricane Ridge on the way back home via the Kingston ferry on Saturday. Will report back.

    Checking back in...

Quinault Lodge is a beautiful property, but a little smaller than the other PNW National Park lodges I've stay at. Forget about cell phone coverage or wifi tho (not a bad thing). Dino's at the west end of the lake is good for pizza and pub food. The Internet Cafe next door is the best place for breakfast- ate there both days. We had dinner at The Salmon House as well... Good food, and slightly better prices than the Roosevelt Room on property.

We went to Rialto for the first day... No rain, just the typical Olympic Coast mist.

Today, we headed north in better weather. Stopped at Kalaloch to make sure that the Tree Of Life was still clinging to this earth.

We then went up to Sol Duc Falls... A bit chilly, but the only moisture was from the spray when it dripped back from the trees.

On the way back to the highway, it started to rain so we decided to skip the trip to the Punchbowl (choosing a great bowl of Pho in Port Angeles). From there, back to the ferry and Seattle.

Reading through your plans, I think they are better than what we did... The trips up and down and up the 101 were a bit of a beating.

Happy to provide any additional intel that might be helpful.
