  1. I mean, we would go to Pappasito’s if it were an option, don't get me wrong. Better than where I've had to go there before.

My wife is from Pasadena/Deer Park. Went to SFA. She has weird nostalgic attachment to Casa Ole. So we've stopped multiple years at the Waco location on the way to Ou game. Pretty bad. Even she had to admit it was bad the last few times. Still, we go.

So @Helobious, this season features three SA/South Texas teams left:

    • Smithson Valley
    • Cibolo Steele
    • Veterans Memorial

Sadly, two have to play each other. Of the three, which one do you think has the best chance to advance to state?

Davenport is from the area in 4A D1. No clue about their opponent Tyler Chapel Hill other than they beat favored Kilgore. Looking forward to it.

Speaking of, never been to McLane stadium in Waco. Any good places to eat close by that won't take forever before the game?

COULD MITCHELL RETURN TO TEXAS IN 2024?

I’ll believe this when I see it, but a source close to the situation said Adonai Mitchell, who has 51 catches for 813 yards and a team-leading 10 touchdowns, is giving consideration to returning to Texas next season, in part, because the 2024 NFL Draft class is expected to be loaded at receiver.

Most are projecting the top of the 2024 receiver draft class to include:

    — Ohio State's Marvin Harrison Jr. (6-4, 205, Jr.; 67 receptions for 1,211 yards and 14 touchdowns)

    — LSU's Malik Nabers (6-0, 195, Jr.; 86 receptions for 1,546 yards and 14 touchdowns) and Brian Thomas Jr. (6-4, 205, Jr.; 60 receptions for 1,079 yards and 15 touchdowns)

    — Washington's Rome Odunze (6-3, 201, Jr.; 81 receptions for 1,428 yards and 13 touchdowns)

    — Florida State's Keon Coleman (6-4, 215, Jr.; 50 receptions for 658 yards and 11 touchdowns)

Mitchell has only one drop this entire season.

Every scout I’ve talked to believes Mitchell’s skill set (length, catch radius, contested catch ability and straight-line speed) projects him to be selected anywhere from the first to the third round. Those same scouts believe Harrison is a high-level first-round pick and they project Nabers, Thomas, Odunze and Coleman to be first or second-round selections.

The question is if Mitchell returns to Texas, could he elevate himself into a sure-fire first-round draft pick?

It just takes one team to fall in love with you and if Mitchell tests well, he could end up being a first-round draft pick in 2024.

(The NFL thought highly of receivers who played in Steve Sarkisian’s offenses at Alabama in 2019 and 2020. Henry Ruggs III and Jerry Jeudy were first-round picks in 2020, selections which were followed by Jaylen Waddle and DeVonta Smith going in the first round in 2021).

Several sources close to the team said Mitchell deciding to return to Texas would be a surprise. Those same sources certainly expect junior Xavier Worthy (73 catches for 969 yards and five touchdowns) to make himself eligible for the draft by the underclassmen deadline of Jan. 15.

    We’ll see.

    No way he comes back.

The way we spread the ball around, his stats are unlikely to be massively bigger and his measurables are his measurables. Test well and he can be a first rounder. 4 WR were picked in 1st round last year. A few other good ones are not a deterrent and he's never getting to top 10 pick status like Harrison or Julio Jones or whoever with another season.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, as I have only paid attention to this "new" war for a few days after October 7th.

I was under the impression that the entire concept of the protests we are seeing in the US (and around the world?) is more of a backlash against the government and existence of the Israeli state since, well, its existence.  I find it a little odd that Gen Z (or whomever) is just now latching onto this notion, but I didn't understand it to be an attempt at equivocating Hamas and Israel.

It seems to me that a whole bunch of people decided that the way Israel came into existence wasn't fair to the Palestinians and that is the root cause of the protests.

    Am I wrong?

Young people are fucking stupid, and loud. And taught by idiots like this.

48-20 Davenport. This was 20-20 after Calhoun got a stop with 6 minutes left in the 3rd. 9 minutes of game time later they are down four touchdowns.

Very surprised by how sloppy Calhoun was handling the ball. Kind of gave the game away. Their big back was an absolute beast.

Key injury tonight for Davenport. One of their best receivers #19 injured shoulder and couldn’t finish game. The way he was in sling and icing it looked like AC sprain. Doubt he plays next week. Is their best deep threat.

  6. You have to remember that Mark Cuban did about the best top tick ever when he cashed out on broadcast.com. Maybe he sees a similar bubble in sports franchises and wanted to get some liquidity out?

With streaming are TV revenues for sports topping? Idk. Just a thought.

You can get a box of 24 tampons throughout Europe for 2-3 Euros.  In the US, the same box is 7-8 USD.  It's fucking bullshit.

Ok I’m going to regret asking this, but the average woman’s period takes up 12 tampons? So a 5 dollar difference every two months is “fucking bullshit”? Or 30 dollars per annum. Of all the things to complain about

Okay, @Longhorn94, since I am a very pessimistic person, (being a Horns fan will do that to you) I asked ChatGPT to say why why Lake Travis could defeat Westlake this Saturday. Now I've gone from feeling low to feeling entirely hopeless:

    1. Strong Offense: If Lake Travis High School has a powerful and versatile offense with skilled players, they may be able to outscore Westlake High School.

    2. Solid Defense: A strong defense is crucial in football. If Lake Travis has a robust defensive strategy and skilled defenders, they may be able to prevent Westlake from scoring.

    3. Effective Coaching: Good coaching can make a significant difference. If Lake Travis has a well-prepared coaching staff that can make effective in-game decisions, it could give them an advantage.

    4. Home Field Advantage: Playing on their home turf can boost the morale of Lake Travis players and contribute to their overall performance.*

    5. Injury-Free Roster: If Lake Travis has a healthy and injury-free roster, they will have all their key players available for the game, giving them a better chance of success.

    6. Strategic Special Teams: Special teams play, including kick and punt returns, can swing the momentum of a game. If Lake Travis excels in this aspect, it could give them an edge.

    7. Motivation and Team Spirit: A motivated and cohesive team often performs better. If Lake Travis has a strong team spirit and motivation, it can positively impact their performance on the field.

    8. Previous Successes: If Lake Travis has a history of success against Westlake or in similar high-pressure situations, it might boost their confidence and increase their chances of winning.

    9. Adaptability: Football games can be unpredictable. If Lake Travis is good at adapting to different game situations and adjusting their strategy accordingly, they may have an advantage.

    10. Fan Support: The support of enthusiastic fans can create a positive atmosphere and energize the players. If Lake Travis has a strong fan base, it could contribute to their success on the field.

Just in case it gets a little too testy at the family gatherings and it's way too CR for the other thread, bring it here.

We have an uneasy detente at my mom's and sister's. Don't start nothing, won't be nothing. Because they know that I will respond in kind.

Someone over at the other thread mentioned turning off Fox News when they arrived. There's gotta be some more stories.

And this is equal opportunity. There have to be episodes of very liberal family members starting shit too. I don't give a damn if you want to protect farm animals from abuse while I am slicing ham. Want to watch Anthony shoot the pig with the Cajuns or stab him in Borneo? Either way that delicious pig is dinner. We can discuss ethical questions afterwards on the porch l.

I know y'all got them stories. Let's hear it.

Getting in a “slugfest” with family over politics is juvenile behavior.
